i interviewed the week of 12/14 and still haven't heard anything....i'm sure that means i'm rejected or waitlisted but has anyone else not heard in this long? anyone received good news after a 1month+ wait?

you need to call obed. even if you are rejected or waitlisted, you would hear back in 2 weeks.

Just got an email saying my secondary and fee were received. My LORs were all sent via interfolio/virtual evals so hopefully my file will be complete soon!

can anyone who received an interview invite recently give out roughly when they are scheduling interviews?, if they are scheduling in March yet??

:scared::scared::scared:

got my decision....wait-listed on HIGH!!! I am soooo sacred, I really liked the school, and the interviewers.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!:luck::luck::luck:

If you are waitlisted high what are the chances you will be accepted eventually? For people who got waitlisted high in the past were most of them accepted. Anyone know the statistics??

Don't really know what to tell you, I am non-trad.
Thought I interviewed really well.

Lot of ppl here say that HIGHS are pulls off the wait list, but I wouldn't trust any %, cause many of the highs get accepted at others schools, so the % will be a little lopsided unless of course they called and account for everyone from that high list. But I doubt that.

The good part is that if you're willing to wait they'll offer HIGHS a spot in the 2015 class.

I wish you all the luck in the world!

Has anyone received a rejection after turning in their secondary and without an interview invite?

Last year (when I was wait listed LOW) I called Obed and talked for a little bit and he said that all of the HIGH wait lists were at the least offered spots in the following year's class. Some of the MED's and NONE of the LOWs. You can imagine how happy I was to hear that haha. I guess thats why they did away with the LOW wait list this year since it was synonymous with a rejection.

Ironically I just declined my acceptance a couple days ago, maybe they'll give you my spot. Good luck. :luck:

Thanks Bones DO, I wish you much success at RVU! I hope I at least get offered in next years class!!! :) I feel better now!!!

Just wondering - I was reading through the "Interview Feedback" for TouroNY and a couple comments said "I wish I would've known how few spots were left before I interviewed."

Does anybody have a recent number on how many spots are still open? I applied late, as in I was complete about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks! Not to give you false hope but its a decent time to be on the high waitlist. I think you will at the very least be offered a spot in 2015.

Okay, so I'm sure many people have this problem, but I don't know the answer. What happens if you are waiting to hear back from schools to see if you're accepted, but TUCOM accepts you and wants your $2000 deposit within 2 weeks? Do you seriously have to make a decision at that point? Seems a little ridiculous. Are there any ways to hold a spot and still be able to be refunded? AHHHHHHH.

Dave

only way to hold your spot is ask obed to put you on high waitlist if accepted

Yeah...I was wondering if that was possible. Has anyone done that? Seems kinda like saying "uh...I only kind of like your school. I'd rather go somewhere else" though.

I interviewed on Jan 27 with about 6-7 others and here are some of my feedback:

I have read the thread and heard some of you that got treated badly. How janitors would walk in and take bagels and stuff. It's definitely the same office and same people you are talking about HOWEVER..

For me and the others with me that day, we thought it went very well. We were treated very nicely. The Dean explained things philosophically including why he picks up the phone during a conversation. (The answer is he will always answer his students at any time during the day no matter where he is or what he is doing). Mr. Figueroa is awesome as usual, Dr. Levine is extremely witty in his stories and comments. My two interviewers were very serious. I prefer being asked questions instead of yapping on and on about myself. Either way it went great.

The school is small, so I understand how the bagels can easily be shared between the faculties and the students. There is plenty to go around. Plus it gives a home like feeling that everyone is so cool with each other you can skip all that custom and courtesy. As long as you get your bagel, then I am sure you are not missing out on anything right? Share people, share.

As for the other sessions that went awry, I don't understand how it could be so. We were divided into groups A, B, and C and the schedule is different for each of the groups. That way its broken up nicely between the interviewers, financial rep, tour and admission. We all went to our assigned places at the assigned time. Nothing wrong. And there were always a representative there at all times talking to us and asking us about our day, escorting us in and out of the building from one place to another.

The DEAN did ask if this is our first interview or not. He wasn't nosy at all. Plus, he said he rather we do the choosing. TOUROCOM NY is and will always be his number 1, therefore he will always refer to his own school to be the best. Which school doesn't? He doesn't want you here if you have other places you rather go to. Therefore he asked "What would you do if you didn't get accepted to medical school?" Which if you think about it, its deep.

If you think your life only revolves around medical school as your only route to happiness, maybe it's best you go out there to explore more. No one can say that there is only one thing for them. NO ONE.

Sometimes you are lucky that the path you chose is something you enjoy doing. Because you were exposed at an early age, and felt a deep connection to it. HOWEVER, it should never be the only passion you have in life.

Sorry if I yapped on too much. But that's my 2 cents

I was going through some of the comments and felt very disheartened by them. I interviewed on 1/13 and had the best experience. It is a world of difference from what I am reading from the other posters. First and foremost, Obed was wonderful. Some may feel that he is foreboding with his speech about the interview, but it was very helpful for me. It reminded me of all the little things to avoid during the interview. He also took some of his personal time to go over interview questions with me, so I would be prepared when asked by the panel.
The students who gave me the tour( how I wish I could remember their names) were wonderful. They were genuinely excited about attending the school and made the tour very enjoyable. They were very professional and explained the facility to great lengths. The Dean of Medicine was also very nice (no phone calls whatsoever). The food was delivered on time and there was plenty to go around, for the faculty as well as the students.
Overall, I truly loved my experience and everyone who was attending the school seemed genuinely very excited and thankful to be going there. I really don't know what changed between my interview date and the previous dates, but if you are looking at this school seriously and getting disheartened by all the negative comments, don't! :)

Sometimes a school just fits you. This seems to be the case with the last two posters, I hope you guys get in there so you'll be happy :) Good luck!!

Did anyone interviewed both at Touro NY and Touro NV?

What are your pros and cons for each school? and where would you go?

Please, any input would be sooo helpful.

Ok so not to rain on anybodies parade, but if you dont have the stats, it dosnt matter how well you interview. I went there and interviewed and got wait listed. I called two monthes later to learn that I did amazing at my interview, but that my numbers were not good enough....THEN WHY INTERVIEW ME!

There should be standards....they should not interview someone they are going to reject/waitlist....I mean at 200 dollars for the application fee some would think this is perhaps a scam...

Biology101, do you mind if I ask what general range of stats you fall into?

I just sent everything in today and really like the prospects of this school- even considering the cost of living, I think it is a good value.

My rough stats:
3.35 GPA
28 "O"

Hey guys,
I live in Brooklyn and want to stay in the city for school, residency, work, etc.
I understand that the school wants to supply the area with primary care docs; while I definitely have an interest in primary care, my interest also leans towards emergency medicine as well. Will this be frowned upon by Touro? Most of my clinical experience was in a high volume ER and in a post surgical care unit. Other than that, I have a lot of working experience in various fields (I'm actually an arborist- tree surgeon- in the city now. I've taught science in Brooklyn... and like I said, I worked at a hospital for a few years).

As far as my stats go...
I definitely had my screw ups in college, where I had W's, F's and a semester where I almost left school. That was a LONG time ago... and I was very immature then. However, I killed most of my pre-reqs then... Bio A, Micro A, Genetics A, Molecular B+, Chem 1 A, Chem 2 A, Orgo 1 A, Orgo 2 B+, Phys 1 A, Phys 2 C+ :(... I did well on my major classes as well...
But I def slipped up along the way. Oh, MCAT is not until May, but I'm pushing a 30 on my practice tests and I'm only at the beginning of my prep.

Would love to hear what you guys think about my chances at Touro.

Oh, and I understand that you can not get a good read until I receive my MCAT scores, so let's work with what I stated thus far.
Thanks all.
Peace

Hey guys-

Has anyone sent a letter of interest to the school after the interview? And did it work? I LOVE this school, and the location of course. Let me know!

Thanks!

Dave

You love the location? I must be missing something when I was there for the interview.

New York City? Uh. Yes I love the location. Their mission statement deals with underserved communities. Wouldn't it make sense that, if I also wanted to serve the underserved, that I would want to go to school there too? It doesn't seem genuine otherwise. I don't get what your comment is stemming from? NYC? Harlem? The specific AREA in Harlem?

I guess some people just aren't cut out for the Big Apple. It takes a true New Yorker (or one who has it in him/her to become one) to make it here.
I'm proud to be a New Yorker and I would be damn proud to be a doc here too...
This school seems to fit the bill for someone like myself.

Has anyone sent in a thank you/ letter of interest letter to Obed after their interview and before the two weeks? I sent in thank you letters to my interviewers, but has anyone done anything more?

I sent thank you's but not a letter of intent. I just declined my offer of admissions, so hopefully that opens up a spot for some of you all!

For those who have been accepted and are attending, what are your living arrangements. I am from CT, and it is an hour and a half drive into the city, so I am hoping to move there.
If anyone else is looking for a female roommate, message me!

I was going to apply here but then I noticed the $200 application fee. Sheesh. Greedy. Anyone know if there are still slots open? I'm pretty sure at this point it's not worth it.

Anyone who interviewed on the 1st hear anything yet? Waiting......

Well it is president's day...So they are off. We probably find out tomorrow. Thanks for never messaging me your email. lol.. I am harmless.

Yeah same here! Got a phone call from the Dean, couldn't pick up but they left a voicemail, said to look out for an email later on.

Congrats on the acceptance guys!

How long does it take after you interview to hear back? Thanks

Well it's SUPPOSED to take exactly 2 weeks, but it took us 2 weeks and 1 day because yesterday was President's Day.

Congrats to those accepted. Just curious as to the stats of some of the recent accepts? If you don't mind telling?
