That's what the advisor said -- the economy has scared a lot of potential applicants. I figure I'm investing in an education that I can't wait to have and all that other stuff -- owning a home, traveling, retirement -- will just have to wait until I'm about 80 years old. 😀

Yep, I literally 100% planned on applying to Tufts last year (registered myself + LOR writers and everything) but was so freaking sick of applications after VMCAS + supplementals that I changed my mind. :laugh:

I'm sure I'm not the only one...
 
I scheduled "winning the lottery" for next year between "taking the GRE" in January and "completing applications" Oct 1, so I'm set.
 
Hey guys, I'm new here. Wish I new about this forum when I was applying! So I know Tufts said they would be getting their application system online soon but does anyone know when? Its two days past "mid-November" lol. I know I mailed out all my documents but it would be a relief to know for sure that Tufts got everything. I called last week and they were still processing stuff. I am so impatient!

I don't know if this is meaningful to you, but I got an email a few days ago saying that my transcript had not yet been received (so I had to go and send another). :/

I got e-mail asking for more detail about my transcript yesterday. (My undergraduate university reports freshman classes as pass/fail, so I'll need to contact EVERY DEPARTMENT and get them to report their best record of a real grade. Yikes.) So it seems like they're processing big piles of stuff right now and checking everything off against their master checklist.
 
I got an email a couple of days ago that they would be sending out login info soon. They wanted to give me a heads up that their site only lets them list 5 schools, but since I had transcripts from 6 schools one of mine won't be listed, but they DO have it, they just didn't want me to freak. How nice!
 
Update: I was sent an email saying they are processing applications and that they got nearly 700 of them! It also says that Login information would be going out tomorrow (according to the email I got today), and they are almost done with the first phase of the processing 🙂
 
shoot, after a frantic check of my inbox, including a hopeful check of my spam folder, i too have no email.
 
I got double copies of the email as well - sounds like a system glitch. NO ONE PANIC! 🙄 I'll bet more emails go out today!
 
I just got an email with the login info for the status page. I didn't actually find this link useful last year, except to know I'm not missing any documents. I don't think they ever really updated it and I remember getting a rejection letter before it was posted on this site.
 
Just got the email from Tufts about 1 minute ago with the username and password 🙂
 
I got the email too, but yeah I think it is worthless website, I don't really get the point of it. Oh well.
 
I got the email too. At least I know they have everything of mine! Now they need to just tell me if I got an interview....a few of my friends got interviews at other schools already and it is just making me more nervous! I hate waiting...
 
did anyone submit letters from more than 3 recommenders? mine only shows the first 3 as being received and there were more than that all part of the same committee letter (submitted through regular mail not online). very strange.

I submitted 3 online, and 2 by mail and they all show up on the site. None of mine were committee letters though...
 
I was looking at the interview thread from last year, and I think Tufts sent out a couple of interview invites around this time for a wave of December interviews...

Do you think they'll be doing the same thing this year? Was there any rhyme or reason to who got December interviews vs. February interviews (more qualified applicants, applicants with particular interests, etc.)?

If I remember correctly, the one December date was for applicants they felt were among the most highly qualified. The rest of the invites went out early January for the Feb interviews.

Then again, I could be completely wrong. And they may have changed things this year. And I am TOTALLY NOT going to freak out next week.
 
canis, i remember in a meeting with Laura Fuller last year, she said that they send out early invites just to give them more time to interview because it gets so crazy in february. i remember her emphasizing that it was random and not related to any sort of "ranking" of applicants.

I'm particularly concerned about the usefulness of the site, because it claims Tufts has received a transcript for me from a school I have NOT YET ATTENDED. (I need to get genetics through an extension division nearby; I'll be doing that this spring.) Gee, I wonder what classes I took and what grades I got!

I noticed this on mine as well. I am currently taking two classes at two different schools and they say they have both transcripts...even though I haven't even researched how to send them! Well then, I guess that was easy!
 
Did y'all get the "important update" email regarding interview invites and applicants today?

I wish they wouldn't email me unless it's got an interview invite in it - every time I see "TUFTS" in the mailbox my heart stops for a minute. That can't be healthy.

Yup I also got the email. I also agree about the interview thing. My heart starts racing when I see Tufts or any of the other vet school emails ahhaaha:laugh:

Hmm ... I didn't get an email. I think I might contact admissions and ask them because I also didn't get the email that other people got the day before they sent out usernames and passwords. What did the email say?
 
I didn't get the email today either, but I did get the email with the username and password for the tracking page. Would someone who received the email mind summarizing what it said about interviews and applicants? Thank you!

Edit: Or would you mind PMing me with the info? I'm dying to know what the important update is!!!

Thank you for your application for admission to Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. We are pleased with your interest in a career as a veterinarian. Tufts offers a veterinary education characterized by a small class size, a powerful university and cultural environment, and the special excitement of a school clearly influencing the course of the veterinary profession.

We received nearly 700 applications for the 98 seats in the Class of 2015. This year’s Admissions Committee is composed of twenty-one members, including two currently enrolled students. They have the difficult job ahead of selecting a class from this group of highly qualified applicants.

The committee’s first task is to select about 280 applicants who will be invited to interview. These interviews are scheduled for December 17, 2010 and February 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 2011. If you are selected to interview, you will receive a letter a few weeks in advance which will include the specific date and time of your interview.

THIS INTERVIEW LETTER WILL ARRIVE VIA EMAIL FOR THE DECEMBER 17 DATE AND VIA U.S. MAIL FOR THE INTERVIEW DATES IN FEBRUARY.

You will also receive an important email from our financial aid office after the new year. Please note that the application deadline is Friday, March 4, 2011, for consideration for Tufts financial aid. All required financial documents must be received by this date in order to be considered for financial aid. This means you must begin the process immediately, since there are many intervening steps before your application is considered complete.

You should know that the 28 U.S. veterinary schools have agreed upon a “common response” date. This means that, if you are admitted to more than one veterinary school, you have until April 15 to notify each school of your decision. Our March 6 financial aid deadline will allow us time to provide your financial aid award before you need to respond to us and other schools on April 15. This will allow you to make an informed decision about a Tufts veterinary education.

I know they have been having issues with the emails reaching everyone as it should - if you aren't getting them, definitely let the admissions office know!
 
I received the 2nd email (as posted above) but didn't receive the 1st...so yeah they're definitely having issues.
If you didn't get them, you should just send an email so admissions knows their mailing list isn't working or they're missing people.

Let me know what they said, I'm always hesitant to contact those guys! Is this a type of email that everyone should definitely be receiving on the same day?

Bonaparte, don't be nervous. Tufts' admissions office is staffed with LITERALLY the nicest people you will ever talk to. I am a reapplicant after I tried last year. Some of the people there actually remember me from last year. They are nothing but friendly and helpful and delighted to talk to you.

Haha, good to know. 🙂 And yea, Patty was super nice when I talked to her about my missing transcript. Let's just say, though, I've had a lot of bad experiences with my own university's administration...

I finally received the third email they sent out (rather, the one Patty had to send out from her personal email address)! Glad to still be in-the-loop. 😀

Yikes! Now I get to stress out about interview invites coming now(although I know most of them will come in January for the February interview dates!) Congrats on the interview invite!
