edit: I just called the office, they said they are still in the top 1/3, things have been sporratic these past couple of days. I asked if they will get to the middle 1/3 this week, Jeff said that i a very llkely possiblity. (But, as we know, the office does not like giving any answers that are definite)

Well, although I really haven't kept up with this thread I just thought I'd let you know that I received the listserv email today 🙂 I was bumped up to the upper third once they finalized the waitlist, so my guess is that the middle third is up next. Good luck!

Kfire, i think i'm in the same position as you. I was moved sometime between march or april. I only called to find out m final position. So, i guess putting you in orange would be more correct 🙂
 
I know this makes me such a loser but I don't have that much to do at work and your waitlist has become a spectator sport for me...I'm so excited for you guys! I'll continue to check in b/w patients =P

Hey everyone. I just want you all to know that I am rooting for you :luck::luck: I know many of you will get accepted. It is just a matter of time. Remeber, it is still early June and there is a good chance UB admission will progress into the middle 1/3 by the end of this week, if they have not already. Good luck everyone.
 
Does anyone know what day classes/orientation start at Buffalo? This is really coming down to the wire for me, because at some point I need to pack up and move to St. Louis.... 😕😱

Hi everyone! As all of you know I got my acceptance yesterday from UB via status page and list server e-mail. My wife has been closely following this thread and posted on my behalf to give the good news to the middle thirders, while I was away from internet access for a few days (isn't she great?). Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that post here for all of the support and encouragement through this stressful process. This thread has definitely made the waiting easier to handle with all the helpful extra information that everyone posts. I'm very excited to be given the privilege of attending UB and to be part of this wonderful entering class and I look forward to meeting all of you guys. I wish all the others in the middle third and bottom third the best of luck and hope that most of you guys will make it through!

Also, I called the admissions office today because I was hoping that they would tell me that they were in the middle third and maybe I could hear some exciting news before MCAT doom tomorrow....unfortunately there was no such good news and they told me to call back next week to see if they were in the middle third. I guess that means that they are expecting to reach it then (of course, they can never give definites because they can't really be sure how fast movement will happen).

Anyway, sorry if that ruins the hope of hitting it this week, but I didn't talk to Mr. Rosso, so maybe he'll have something better to say (I know, it's a long shot, but for those of you who want to still hope we'll get there this week I would talk to him directly...)

Well, it will all be over at 6:30 pm tomorrow!!

Congrats all the top 1/3ers!!!

I'm actually quite anxious... as I sit here grading finals, I'm scared that Mr. Rosso may call me 8am east coast which is 5am west coast... none of my phone contacts will be up then 🙄

Sigh... i'm so hoping this works for me. Good luck everyone... Let's see that waitlist start rolling. :luck: :luck: :luck:

If I were you I would have your cell phone constantly charged and with you 24/7 whether you are sleeping, eating or in the restroom so that you do not have to rely on other people on your list to pick up the phone. There is still a good 7 weeks to go and so there is a good chance they will move you off the list. Wish all of you guys on the list the best of luck!
 
So how does this phone thing work? If they call you and you don't answer, what happens? Also, what is the latest they would call - 5 or 6pm east coast time?
 
does anyone know what the waitlist movement has been like in the past during the phone call situation??? do they call a few people a week or are there weeks without anyone receiving a call???
Just the thought that I am expecting a call that may never come for 7-8 weeks at any day out of the week is freaking me out. I guess not knowing what I'm going to be doing 2 months from now is pretty freaking me out too...

I asked Mr. Rosso about the whole phone situation. He said that if they call during the morning, you have until 4:30pm EST that afternoon to get back to them. If they call during the afternoon, you have until 9am EST the next morning. Basically if you get the call, you need to call them back ASAP or they move down the list. You need to speak with them in person. Send in a list of like 20 people to make sure you know they are looking for you. Good luck to you all!! It is a really bad system..My best best friend is still on the wait list and it is absolutely awful.

I talked to Mr. Rosso last week and he said that as of now, the class is full (as we knew). There are a few acceptances he sent out by mail, so they are pending. If a space opens up, he calls the first candidate on the list at the phone number you gave them. If he doesn't get a live person (say, your cell phone) he'll go to the next phone number you gave him (say, your home phone). You can give him a bunch of numbers, all of people you trust. But, if he calls all 2, 5 or 7 of your number and doesn't get a live voice, he'll have to go onto the next student candidate in the list. You'll lose your spot, basically, if he doesn't get a live person.

now here's where I got confused: lets say he calls me, I don't answer, so he calls my brother (say, the next person on my list). My brother picks up, and he can't accept the position for me, he can only take the message from Mr. Rosso and then call ME asap. I then call Mr. Rosso to accept the slot immediately (if you want it, of course). If Mr. Rosso calls you in the morning, you have until 4.30 pm that afternoon to return the call. If he calls you in the afternoon, you have until 9am the next morning ot return the call. You don't return it, you lose the slot.

I think the office is open 8.30 - 4.30 pm Monday - Friday but it could be 8am - 4pm. Maybe someone else can check?

Also, as of Friday, they were still in the upper third. 🙁

He did say, that some people immediately decline his offer so he goes right to the next person on the list. So the phone calls greatly speed up the process for him. Also, some people only give him one or two numbers and if they don't pick up he may have to go to the next person on the list.

I think that's about all the information I got. He's very helpful within the realm of what he's allowed to talk about.

so it seems to me that the waitlist movement is going to be really really slow from now on? with the class being full, i guess only a few spots are going to be opening up from now until august. 🙁 so my chances of getting in from the waitlist is pretty slim....
