University of Detroit Mercy Dental Class of 2025 Interview/Acceptance Thread

Good to know ! Hoping for some calls Monday ?!
I don't think they'll be calling until after next week. They still have to finalize all deposits because they get mailed out and so they wait on them.

they accept so many more than the actual class size that wouldn't it make more sense to see waitlist movement maybe by the second payment? It's not like they just accept the class size, then immediately fill those declined seats with people on waitlist. I could be wrong, and am hoping for the best, but I've prepared mentally to not see movement so soon.
No, they do send acceptances off waitlist in January after the deposit deadline, along with every other deposit deadline down the line.

It's amazing how many applicants in here said they heard of 80-90% waitlist clearing, then you who had a first-hand experience from last cycle say that there wasn't much waitlist movement.
As much as I sit here hoping for 80-90% of the waitlist clearing, it just seems ridiculous to believe in. That would require soooo many people refusing their seats. I don't believe UDM is that hated of a school, and how would that happen when they've already extended offers that outnumber the amount of seats? Another theory I saw on previous years' thread was that UDM trims their waitlist via rejections every time a deposit date comes around. Resulting in about 10% of the waitlist remaining around August. I could be wrong of course, this is just what previous applicants have said, but it seems more realistic to me.

Wait, so people got periodically rejected after acceptance day in previous years? Can someone please confirm this?

Does anyone know if UDM dislikes letters of intent? I'm probly being paranoid, but would appreciate it if someone can provide insight on this.

I guess 15th was cutoff for admitted people to pay deposit and if some didn’t or dropped out then waitlist may start to move 🙂

If we’re comparing it to last year’s thread, we won’t hear until February about any movement on the waitlist.
No, they start accepting after each deposit deadline. The first and second deposit are the biggest movements for the waitlist. I know a lot people that got accepted in previous years after the first deposit deadline.

I have an online interview coming up in a few days and UDM recently sent me links and additional info but I'm confused about the process because it says that there will be a wrap-up session with Dr. Chang and "myself". I was wondering if anyone knows who this second person is and what exactly a wrap-up session is? Also is there any way that I can know who my interviewers are in the initial 30-minute interview or is that not shared?

It isn't shared. The wrap up session is going to be you, along with the other interviewers, and Dr Chang. Dr Chang is just going to explain the process following the interview (rejection, waitlist, acceptance), and information about the deposit.

Okay, thank you! I was concerned because I was told that when it's time to ask the interviewers questions we may have, they need to be questions directed on whichever department they work in. So when trying to formulate questions to ask my interviewers should I just ask general questions about the school or does it have to be focused on the department they work in since I won't know beforehand?

The other person is Danielle Harris I believe, she works in the Admission's office as well. And as someone else said before, the interviewers' names aren't shared prior to the interview.

Does anyone know who to address the letter of intent to? Dr. Chang or to the Office of Admissions? Because I know people have said that we send these to Dr. Chang.

Was also rejected this morning, best of luck to everyone!

Nothing either. I think they have their last interviews this Saturday probably will hold off till next week for waitlist movement

Hey guys! I have my interview coming up this weekend which is my first interview! Prep wise I was wondering if there are any timelines of what we should try to stick to for each question? Right now I am thinking to aim for about 4 minutes a question, but not sure how many they will ask in 30 minutes. I guess it is more question dependant on how much I have to say, but don't want to skimp out or talk for tooooo long. Thanks so much for the help guys 🙂

p.s. good luck to everyone this weekend! See you all I guess in the follow up with Dr. Chang and Danielle Harris!

4 mins a question is kinda a lot. Just stick to making it like a conversation. Try youtubing "mock dental school interview" to get an idea.

You definitely shouldn’t try to think about the time....it’ll be over before you even know it
