How does your pup feel about large fluffy cats? 😀

Haha she loves everything!!! A little scared-timid bc she's still only a pup but i think she'd be fine! I am def interested in an apt complex, like greenbrier, the reserve, bell walker's crossing (loved it and all are away from undergrads ha) etc! I am looking to spend btwn 4-500 a month? Def want a place with a pool for if i ever get ANY spare moment to relax and forget abt school!

Yay! My boy is a fan of all animals, though can be a little skittish around new people. Super sweet though, and very well-behaved. That price sounds good to me, too. How far are those places from campus? When I was looking before it was specifically for one bedrooms that were under $600 and less than 15 minutes from campus so that limited my options. Did you get a chance to look at places in person?

Hmm they are abt 15 min away i believe! I just went and saw the bell walker's crossing and i loved it --but it we'd have to rent or buy washer/dryer units (they only have connections).. I was looking for a place that came furnished but apparenty it's like impossible!?

Yeah the furnished places are either super expensive or filled with undergrads. I was told that finding cheap furniture shouldn't be too hard though, from thrift stores and stuff like that. Do you know how much it is to rent a washer and a dryer?

Does anyone know anything about Waterford Village apartments off western ave?

Question to all - I'm heading to Knoxville from 19-24/25 May for house-hunting. Will anyone (i.e. students/new students, faculty, administrators) be around at that time? If not, do most students remain in the area over the summers? I'd like to connect with people, if possible, while I'm searching so I can get an idea of what I can obtain/accomplish prior to August.

For current students - I'm an oddball case, (veteran), so everything I do must be run through my VA "manager" before I do it. They've begun to ask specific questions and I'm hoping someone here may be able to assist with an answer to one of them: The way that they normally order things like books/supplies/scrubs/etc, is that the student goes to their school bookstore, gets it, and the bookstore sends the bill to the veteran's manager at the VA. I'm the first person they've sent through vet school, and I know your bookstore is not a large physical location. I'm aware that I can get books; but will it be possible for me to order my scrubs/stethoscope/all other "any-type" supplies through the bookstore? Then, if I find an item somewhere else that's less expensive, can I give the bookstore the website and have them order it for me from that location?

That may be way too specific of a question....BUT if anyone knows an answer or a specific individual (PM me) who I may call/email, that would be great! I was given the VBOT phone number, but I'm generally either in class or working during the 12-1pm time frame that the store is open, and thus unable to call. Any help would be much appreciated!! 🙂

You can get other things through the bookstore. I don't believe VBOT will do website orders for you.

Hey current students, I have a question. I was told by a UTCVM grad that there is a club/support group for spouses of vet students. Is this for real?

I don't remember there being one when I graduated last year, but there's usually plenty of married students so it wouldn't be hard to form one of there isn't. 🙂

You can buy your scrubs, stethoscope, etc. through VBOT. But as far as I know, they don't order specific items for people from online retailers. It would be worth asking though.

Not that I'm aware of, although there really should be. My wife would love something like that. My guess is that it was something informal that people from a certain class put together and then it dropped off once they graduated.

If I'm able to catch someone in the store during the 12-1pm time frame, would they be able to answer that for me or is there a different office I should call?

That last reply I sent came out weird...If I'm able to catch someone in the store during the 12-1pm time frame, would they be able to answer that for me or is there a different office I should call?

Has anyone called about the OOS waitlist or been invited off of it yet?

Was OOS waitlisted and offered admission today. I declined because I have already accepted a spot elsewhere. Good luck to those still on the waitlist! 🙂

I'm also in need of a roommate! I'm a fairly quiet person and a bouncy dachshund! I also come with furniture and washer/dryer. 🙂

Thanks guys! How do I get into the facebook group?

I'm guessing it might be another month or so before we start seeing things rolling into our UTK email accounts/facebook account creation. It's hitting finals season and I would imagine that the wait list has not yet been exhausted. Itching for additional info, but it may still be a while......hope it's not 😉

Okay thankss! I'm just eager haha. Does anyone know how much time we spend at orientation? (if all day for a week or brief or what) I am out of state and just trying to determine when I need to move by to be settled in. Also thanks to everyone who listed info about the apartments that will help a bunch when I go to look at places! P.S any current students know when most of the apartments fill up by? Should be be looking now or wait a little?

I think the only info we were given is that orientation activities begin on August 12th, and classes on the 19th

Sorry for my 2928482 questions but can you order from VBOT online? Just looking to see if I can buy supplies and gear prior to getting there.

I'm moving in by August 1st so I have at least a week or so to unpack, get to know the area, etc before the show starts!

Unfortunately you can't order from VBOT online. They're a really small operation.

I went ahead and sent a message to one of the class presidents for the rising second year class. I'll let you know what I find out. Our finals start next week, so everybody's going to be pretty busy for a while (finals in vet school are absolute misery in every way, unfortunately).
