Oh man is anybody's summer going as slow as mine! I wanna enjoy it but I can't till acceptance letters are sent out. I wish we didn't have to wait sooo long to hear back and the weather isn't helping either; it's either rainy or really humid!🙄

I hope you can get in this year. Good luck!

summer feels.. interesting. It's like you are trying to have fun but at the back of your mind you think about this pharm thing. A very conflicting feeling.

Is it too early to start sharing stats and seeing our chances?

Is it too early to start sharing stats and seeing our chances?

Most people on this forum have very good stats and so sharing it wont really help determine your chances. Aside from comparing your stats against it wont do much help as the 470 applicants all range from 70-99 cGPA. In my opinion it actually discuarages some people that have low cGPA's and PCAT's when others with stats 88% and 95% ,respectively, post it.

That's how UofT refers to "class of 20--" so class of 2015, for example, is referred to as "1T5".

And I believe the T stands for twenty, 1T5 means year of twenty-fifteen.

That is how U of T refers to its classes but I don't think T means twenty because before the 2000s if you were in the class of '98 for example you would be called 9T8 (get it "ninety-eight"). I think that numbering system just carried over to the 2000s for some reason and now it really makes no sense.

Re: Hot Pot

This seems interesting. But it is irrelevant for us since we (hopefully) will have a new curriculum to work with. It is never too late to go for PharmD after we complete the new BScPhm and when we have several years of work experience.
You forget though that if the new BScPhm gets approval from the government and you get in and complete it, you'll walk out with a PharmD for the price of a BScPhm and the same amount of time 🙂

Well, in my opinion we are not "less" enthusiastic... but the lower number of posts on this year's forum corresponds to the fewer number of applicants in this year's cycle (there's been at least a 40% drop in number of applicants this year, that's a very significant decrease.)

Also, last year there were a TON of posts about the government cuts with regards to generic drugs which added a lot to the number of posts!

Anyways, hope the time is going by fast for all you guys 😉

p.s. glad that we "survived" the "end of time" so we live to see our acceptance letters 😛😛😛 (hope everyone knows what I mean)
hehe, I see what you did there 😛

What's there to be enthusiastic about? It's just a waiting game now.....not really much to think about in the interim.
Pretty much, just keep busy each day and wait to find out if you got in or not 👍

You are right on this one.

I wish you could but you might have conditional attached to it.

ONE MONTH left till acceptances are sent out 😀😀😀😀

Hope this one month passes by quickly 😉

I wrote the PCAT twice, and the second time around my scores were aloooot better. Am I the only one paranoid that they might not have gotten my second PCAT scores and might use the first ones to evaluate my candidacy instead? 😛

The time is going by way too slowly.

I am beginning to wonder if U of T is testing our endurance. JUNE 24th is too far away and we are already made to sacrifice a lot and still now we have to pass this final test. I think we'd really like the offer because of the sacrifice!

Lucky for you helloeveryone, you can wait for a shorter time before the first exciting event from UW. For those of us like me who didn't apply to UW, we have little choice but to get bored, distressed, paranoid longer.

I am commuting from mississauga right now downtown for a research position at one of the hospitals near the pharmacy building.

and i just wanted to say commuting sucks soooooooooooo bad.

lol, you're right 😉 Although, like most things in life, good things are always worth waiting for... and hopefully ALL of us will be super happy with our acceptances in exactly one month from today 😀

do you mind saying what kind of a research positon your doing at a hospital?

I dunno, they never mentioned anything about that when someone asked a question about the new program and if it will get acceptance.

Just grab a book and read or get some shut eye 😛 I am also curious to know about the research position 🙂

You can check this. In PharmSIS under Phersonal Info you previously entered your PCAT CID.

If you entered your CID correctly it is matched to your personal info and you get:
PCAT Candidate ID Number: xxxxxxxxxx (confirmed with PCAT data)

How U of T gets PCAT scores and what they do with them is still a complete mystery to me. I know when you write the PCAT you can choose to send to 3 schools but that doesn't necessarily mean you will apply to those 3. So U of T must get 100s of extra PCAT scores. Also, how do they match up your PCAT with your application? What if there is two people with the same name? Do they look at every applicant and match up a PCAT score from their pile of scores?

Also what happens with multiple scores, if they already have a score on file for you what let's them know that you wrote it more than once? Again do they just rummage through their pile of scores to make sure they have all your scores? I certainly hope its more organized than I imagine.

I wish they had some sort of system where you could easily see how they calculate your average and which PCAT score they have on file. That way you would know that they have the same information you do.

I'm not sure exactly how they match you, but when you register for the PCAT you give them tons of personal information which can be cross referenced. The CID you provide UoT is probably manually matched to the information you provided in your pharmacy application (Name, DOB, Address). Even if you have same names your addresses and DOBs should be different. If there are any matching problems they'll just contact you, so no correspondence is a good sign.

During application you also provided your applicant number for any previous UoT applications, which allows them to link your files together.

I don't think the universities actually get physical PCAT transcripts (that'd be a huge waste of resources if you don't apply to all 3 universities). They probably have a special Pearson Account where they can pull electronic results. Only the 3 universities you choose are able to pull your specific results.

Thus each applicant file will have all the information from past applications (e.g. PCAT results) as well as all of the new information for the current cycle. If you wrote the PCAT multiple times they just consider the single best test score in your file (within 5 years of the application cycle).

Oh ok. That makes a bit more sense. I thought they mailed hard copies of your score to every school. That makes the $20 fee to send your scores to more than 3 schools an even bigger rip off because its just a matter of them giving the school electronic access.

Well I'm just guessing that's how it's done. They could very well send out physical transcripts, but if I were running the show I'd use the electronic system .

Not much can be done now besides sending in your transcripts and remembering to complete your online transcripts on PharmSIS. Go outside and enjoy the summer! Play some beach volleyball or something😀. I'm stuck indoors for the next couple days since it's supposed to rain. Gave me a chance to catch up on the forum and grow anxious again about June. As soon as the weather permits I'm heading out again. I suck at this waiting game. I feel bad for all the people who had their interviews in March.

I hear ya. LOL maybe you should play some TF2 in the meantime. That game seems to change every time I play it....with all the updates and all.

Guys there is no way that PCAT scores are made available to U of T Pharmacy electronically. It is written on their Candidate Information booklet that a physical transcript is mailed.

As I recall, when you filled in your Toronto application, you gave them the candidate number or whatever it was that pertained to the pCAT. I believe that they just get the physical copies and match the numbers, etc.... otherwise, as mentioned, paying $20 to send more copies to other universities seems like a huge ripoff 😛

The thing is though, on both my official PCAT transcripts I have the SAME candidate number, so either way the one on Pharmsis will be xxxxxxxxxx. My main worry was that, for whatever reason, my better PCAT scores werent properly sent to UofT, then they would be using my older, worse PCAT scores in the selection process. I know.. , it's probably just me worrying to much...

I am worried about the same thing too. at first i thought the old cutoffs would let me know for sure if my new pcat score is being used. my old verbal was 17, but now with the new 10 verbal cutoff, i have no way to be 100% sure.

Although we do have the same CID number for both tests, I'm thinking that regardless of what method uft is using to view the scores, all of my account info (with how many pcats i wrote and scores) will should up onces they have my CID (which i'm hoping is unique to every student).

Because that is UofT position but the Ontario Government is different. They might approve PharmD packages with some conditions.

Ya I am wondering about this too. U of T keeps saying its a PharmD curriculum but how do they know if the government hasn't approved it yet? Can't the government request changes that would cause U of T to revise their curriculum once again to have it approved for PharmD

Anyone else paranoid about the university receiving your final transcripts? I requested my transcripts to be sent immediately after my final grades were available (May 10th?) but I have yet to receive a confirmation e-mail from the university.

Anyone know a valid reason to call them to check?

Don't worry about calling them, they'll call you.

2)casinos(time passes by without noticing)

got a question
When do we pay and how, anybody knows about procedures?

3) SCII 😛

^^ The PharmD was mostly centered around what UofT said, so, the requirements could change if the government doesn't give the approval.

Real men play BW
Nice to know someone knows what SCII and BW are. BW was fun and I'm sure I'll still enjoy it, but, having not played it in a long while and no one to play with, I much prefer the vibrant SCII community 😛

On topic:
@lulz I was a bit paranoid but just waiting for a bit then trying to contact UofT to find out if they got them 🙂

do you mind saying what kind of a research positon your doing at a hospital?

stem cells,

first few days heavily supervised to make sure i was doing everything correctly but as time passes I have more and more freedom, learning to use alot of cool machines like a flow cytometer... and yeah pretty happy... the only time this whole admission thing gets on my head is during the weekends really...

do any of the current phm students know if OCP registration as a pharmacy STUDENT is necessary? I heard we need it for 2nd year???

thnaks

Yes, you do have to register in first year and get an OCP number... you need it to perform controlled acts in a pharmacy in the capacity of a pharmacy student 🙂

2)casinos(time passes by without noticing)

You can pay online through ROSI, administrative site used by U of T. I remember having to pay at least 60% of my tuition up front and the rest sometime in Oct/Nov to avoid ridiculous interest charges (something like 20%/annum).

Best of luck in casino, you'll likely need it to pay your ridiculous tuition fees

ahhh this waiting to hear back is really getting to me! It's all I think about ever since my interview and I keep re-living and evaluating the interview in my head 🙁 I'm still trying to figure out whether I should check their decision in the morning (because that will ruin my day) or at night (so I can sleep on it 😛). 26 more days!!!!

Does anyone know how many acceptances went out last year? Was it 240 or 270?
