University of Wisconsin c/o 2018 applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My friend who goes to vet school at UW said she had some classes cancelled yesterday and today, because the admissions committee is meeting to finish up the decisions... Hopefully letters next week?
With the little pause in phone calls I was wondering if there was a weather issue or something along those lines..

When I got my call on Tuesday, I think the admissions person told me we should get letters next week sometime. Also, they are super nice! Probably one of the friendliest phone calls I've ever gotten

I was also really impressed with how nice the admissions woman who called me was. You can tell that they're really excited about their new students 🙂

Hang in there, everyone!

Can't wait to get more details, especially regarding apartments/houses/where to live! Hopefully we'll get more info on that at the open house!

A Facebook group will go up at some point. All the classes have their own. Housing info will be shared through that I think. I don't know if this has been done before, but I think a roommate survey would be a great idea

Me too! I've been looking at apartments on craigslist nonstop. I can't wait to get more details at the open house!

Hang in there, guys! Feel free to get in touch with me about any Madison-y questions - I'll help any way I can.

Yep, I will after I hear back from my other two schools. I wanted to share with you all since I already got in here, but can't bring myself to post on that thread quite yet 🙄

Same! Haha still waiting on UF and NCSU and then I certainly will post there.

Ha, we're both waiting on the same schools! I'd be super interested to know which you'd rather go to if we're given a choice. I'll PM you 🙂

I'm in (IS)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big brown envelope in the mail today!!!! Best of luck to everyone else! I'll post my stats up on the Successful Applicants thread asap.

Yaaaaaaaaay!!! Another Class of 2018er!!!

I haven't been on here in forever but I wanted to pop in and offer some encouragement to all of you still waiting (and congrats to those who have gotten in) because I remember how anxiety-inducing this process was last year, especially around this time. Just hang in there and things will sort themselves out soon enough! Also, for what it's worth: I waited until early May to learn my fate. (I'm fairly certain I was the very last person off the OOS wait list.) I'm now a first-year and can't imagine being anywhere but Wisconsin. If anyone has questions about the school or Madison in general, I'm happy to field them. Good luck!

I was out side cleaning my driveway of a bunch of ice when the mailman pulls up. He hands me a stack of mail including a big brown envelope. I flip out thinking it was from UWSVM. Nope, just something that my wives grandma sent her. How cruel the universe can be. But congrats to all that found out recently!

I was planning on spending the whole day studying for my upcoming Biochem exam... but now that I'm only gunning for a C I have very, very little motivation!... not really.... but really.

Congrats on the acceptance! I will admit your post has now turned on freak out mode for me... *checks outside for mailman*

Omgggg where do you live!? I wonder if mine came...

I'm OOS but I live only 3 hours from UW, and I didn't get anything in the mail today 🙁 Do you guys think OOS letters would've been mailed at the same time as IS? Would it be really obnoxious of me to call and ask? hahaha I'm dying here!

There probably isn't anyone in the office today so you might just have to wait until Monday.

If you don't mind me asking, what position were you on the waitlist initially? At this point I've given up on a direct acceptance and am desperately hoping to be high enough on the OOS waitlist to get in haha!

I live in Green Bay...mail just came and had nothing from uw 🙁 here's to Monday!

Just a little side note, Biochem is actually incredibly useful for your phys classes in vet school. You would really benefit taking in what you can if you have a well taught course. Will save you grief in the long run. 😉

Congrats on Acceptances everyone!!:highfive:

Good thing I saved my biochem notes and everything on a flashdrive! That was one of few general science classes I didn't mind too much
