Do in-state residents get preference for admission into TCOM? I'm not a Texas resident, but I'm really interested in this school. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, all state schools are required to take a large majority of in-state students.
However, you well still find a small amount of out-of-state students, so don't hesitate to apply.

If I remember correctly, TCOM takes 95% in-state residents. To get Texas residency you have to have a permenant residence in Texas for 12 months. If you apply here you will also be required to fill out the TMDSAS application because TCOM does not use AACOMAS

I am a Utah resident, went to Utah State University, and have been interviewed at TCOM and am pretty sure that I will be accepted (TMDSAS won't let you know till Feb. 1). I went ahead and applied and somehow got the interview. I think just filling out the TMDSAS shows schools that you (as an out of stater) are serious about their school. Good luck on it.

Required by law in-state = 90%
Historically in-state = 93-97%+
(varies by school)

Looooow tuition, even for out of staters 👍 Texas rocks 🙂
