OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR EVERYONE AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL (who decide to matriculate) THIS FALL!!!!!
Yeeeeesss!!! Congrats to a fellow 2/1 interviewee!OOS acceptance! Got the call this morning around 8:30 CT. Also interviewed on 2/1!
Shouldn’t be a problem, but check with admissions to be sure. I know a lot of people in my class had problems with classes not being accepted, etc. They all ended up being in the class, but some needed to take online courses over the summer. Now that we’re talking about admissions pre-requisites, I just want to check something. I know a bachelor’s isn’t required for matriculation, only the pre-requisite classes. I was supposed to finish my bachelor’s in May but due to some extenuating family circumstances I didn’t finish one class, and was going to finish it at some point last semester or this semester. I never did since I got accepted and it doesn’t seem like my acceptance was contingent upon completing my BS. This shouldn’t be a problem, right? I’ve completed all of the pre-requisites, got accepted, and that’s it, right?
Anyone know how strict they actually are with quarter credits for pre-reqs? I took biochem on a quarter credit system and have 4 quarter credits but they require 5.
Is this going to actually be an issue??
It’s the only class I took on a quarter system so I didn’t realize at the time that it made a difference, and I got an A+!
If a bachelors isn’t required and the class you didn’t finish wasn’t a prereq, you should be good. Should contact the school just to be safe though, but if it’s not something required it likely will be okay. Now that we’re talking about admissions pre-requisites, I just want to check something. Contact Rob in admissions and he can review your transcripts. I ended up having to do one last spring quarter class for a similar issue.
Talked to rob also.... I gotta take more biochem. Bleh.
Plus side: I can re-take biochem 1 on a semester system and it will count. I also only need a C.
At least you know for sure and can get it taken care of. If something that little were to stop you from going to Penn in the fall, I’m sure you’d be even more frustrated!
Update: good news! Rob got back to me and said that it’s not a problem, 90 credits and the required courses are all that’s needed to matriculate. He said it’s not common, but it’s okay.
You better believe I sent a screenshot of that email to everyone in my family so they can calm down and let ME calm down too!
I'm happy this worked out for you, but just something to keep in mind--- I know someone who was in a similar situation as you who didn't finish their bachelors. Everything was fine for her school, but her husband got transferred for work. When she looked into transferring vet schools, she wasn't able to make the switch because the vet school she wanted to go to required a bachelors.
I've also heard of similar issues with people trying to get other degrees in addition to their DVM, like a masters. Some programs require a bachelors degree!
You know what's best for you, but just keep this in mind if finishing your degree is still feasible. Good luck either way!
Does anyone have an idea when final rejections will be sent out? (No interview)
anyone know how to join the Facebook group? Thanks!

Give it some time. One of the admins will invite everyone who got accepted this wave via email. For me it was Wednesday.
Thank you~ lol just too excited
Hi, does anyone know if Penn sends any information about financial aid/scholarships before April 15th? Or will you have to accept a seat first before finding out?
They should send you information. I believe there is also a link to a website in the acceptance letter they send you to an admitted students page that has financial information.Hi, does anyone know if Penn sends any information about financial aid/scholarships before April 15th? Does Penn track? And if anyone has chosen Penn already would you mind sharing exactly what sold you? Thanks!

They sort of track, but not really. There are core rotations in small and large animal that everyone has to do, but for your clinical year you can be large animal, small animal, food animal, equine or mixed. Each has its own set of required rotations, but everyone does LA medicine, SA medicine (4weeks), small and large animal surgery, and LA ECC. I forget if everyone takes SA emergency or not.Does Penn track? And if anyone has chosen Penn already would you mind sharing exactly what sold you? Thanks!
Glad you got that figured out early. The quarter system doesn't start until March so you can still do that if you can't get in on a semester course. I took both biochem I and II online so if you are employed currently, that might be a good option.Talked to rob also.... I gotta take more biochem. Bleh.

The interview was seriously great when I had it. Sort of loaded since they grilled me with medical questions to test my knowledge (which surprised me since other schools didn’t do that). I’m glad you had a great experience like a lot of us!I didn't believe it after previous interviews but today was the least stressful one I've done and I loved all the time we got to spend with current students. I fell in love with the school and city! I hope everyone else had a great experience today too!
What kind of medical knowledge??The interview was seriously great when I had it. Sort of loaded since they grilled me with medical questions to test my knowledge (which surprised me since other schools didn’t do that). I’m glad you had a great experience like a lot of us!
They asked me what I do as a tech, if I monitor anesthesia, which agents we use, how do I know when each is contraindicated, which organs the bloodwork is checking, which values are for which organ, etc. VERY specific medical stuff that I luckily knew because my doctor is incredibly helpful and has encouraged me to learn all of that stuff. I don’t think it would’ve counted against me if I didn’t know, but it definitely was a bonus that I did. I think they wanted to check to see what I learned from my 3,500 hours since that’s a lot of hours to spend not actually learning anything. What kind of medical knowledge??

I’m sorry to hear. Did you interview?
