Chocolates 😍 Maybe we’ll join the Penn party in 2020 😛

Look at those faces!! The more the merrier 🙂

This is Z on the front porch. She's always got her red collar on 🙂

There are so many people in the West Philadelphia neighborhood that have dogs, it's very pet friendly. And dogs are allowed in the PennVet student lounge and to happy hours! (as long as they are dog friendly of course)

True! Although, they should start letting dogs in to Pasqually's (only the best bottle shop in the 'hood). Z has been to a couple of happy hours -- Vet School Happy Hour every Friday at 5pm 😎

THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! Bring on the dog party!

Does anyone know what their interview dates are going on be?
interviews normally start first week of jan through mid/late feb. not everyone is emailed about interviews at the same time but normally waves of invites go out for a specific friday every week once they start rolling them out. There is also a 'large animal interview' day where LA interested students go out to new bolton, which is normally at the tail end of the interview process.

So to clarify, they only interview on Fridays?

This was true for this past cycle, yes. Also, for the most part, people got calls from their interviewers the Monday following their interview date if they were accepted. For example, I was interviewed Friday Jan 5th, and got a call 9:30am the following Monday, Jan 7th. Some interviewers ended up calling on Tuesday or Wednesday, I heard from some other students this was most likely due to decision making processes and whenever interviewers were able to make time. Some people did not hear anything the following week, either because they were put on an "internal" waitlist, i.e. Penn wants to wait to see which students will accept their offers, and will pull people off that internal waitlist during the spring whenever they see fit. This is separate from the official waitlist that comes out later on in the cycle. Note: Things may have changed this cycle so don't take what I said in stone. Also, Rob Dimeo in admissions is extremely nice and helpful, so call him if you need to. Good luck people! I have a friend who was something like #17 on the official waitlist, and managed to get in soon after the April deadline. The other school even refunded her deposit back!

I'm trying to make some January plans without knowing if I'll even get an interview. Does anyone know anything about UPenn interview dates? If not the actual dates, does anyone know if they usually conduct interviews on weekends or weekdays? And whether or not you get a "choice" of interview date?

This was answered like 2 posts up.

Fun fact, I woke up the day of my interview with a stomach virus. I was puking my guts out, but knew they likely wouldn’t reschedule, so I did my best to pull myself together.

Side note: I’m terrible when it comes to vomit. It usually ruins my whole day. I pretty much didn’t get out of bed for the rest of the weekend, but I at least made it through that one day, and somehow got accepted.

Damn, that sounds rough :/ But hey, look at you now! All done with NAVLE 😎

Anybody hear anything today? I got nothing :/
From their email that they sent in October, they said they would start sending interview invites in mid/late December, and then send out invites weekly through February. It might be another week before anyone starts hearing back!

The last three years they sent out the first invites all on Thursday: 12/10/15, 12/8/16, and 12/7/17

Yeah it’s just odd that they’ve always done it on this Thursday and didn’t this year, unless they push it back a week.. or nobody on SDN heard back
I agree. I went back and read the acknowledgement email we got a few months ago and its clear that they only send invites out one day a week, so unless its not Thursdays this year then we probably won't hear till next week 🙁

Since I have now accepted that SDN has officially taken control of my life, I will go and look at past threads to check the time that people posted about interview invites. The first step in recovery is admitting that there is a problem.

Update: Someone heard about their interview invite at 9:30 AM last year. I will now leave the compulsive refreshment of my email until tomorrow morning.

I have heard before that people with large animal interest interview at a later date than people with small animal interest. Does anybody know when people with large animal interest tend to get sent interview offers?

normally 1st or 2nd week of jan. my year they emailed me on 1/10

The last day of interviews is reserved for large animal focused people because they take you to New Bolton Center for a tour. So those are the people who hear last about interview invitations so don’t stress out!

You were on LA day?? I didn't know that was your thing!

No, I had the first date of interviews. I just know about all of that because a lot of my friends are large animal.
I was there too 🙂 Guess the day was crazy and we don't remember seeing each other.

fwiw large animal day isn't the last day of interviews. Its usually the first friday of Feb and there are normally 2 interview weekends after it.

Does anyone know about the "Commonwealth One Health Scholarship" from Penn? I remember reading an article about it a couple of years ago, but when I search their website it doesn't really give much info. A couple of my questions: Is it only for PA residents or can OOS receive it? How many are given? What criteria are used in selection?
