They haven't said yet. I just had to email back confirming that I accept the offer (duh) and I will get an email back soon here saying what day and time. It's either the 27 or 28 for SK residents.

Yes, they're the same time. So I imagine will send out BC and Manitoba each tomorrow and Friday. 👍

Sorry! You got an interview last year right? I was creeping on the 2016 thread a while ago. Maybe tomorrow!

I got mine at 2:59 PM Pacific time, so around 3 hours ago.

I have a question..

They usually interview double the amount of seats available to each province right?

So if they are interviewing 40 for SK and usually do 20 and 20.. How will they fit 20 interviews in 2 days? Because they have to have the same interviewers for all applicants in the same province..

Do they normally do 20 and 20? With 5 days for first round, I was thinking they front-loaded it this year.
 
They had to have..I can't see them working 10 hour days to fit 20 people in in 2 days. But I did think in the past they split it 20/20.

The change probably had something to do with record application numbers. Hopefully they just front-loaded it and didn't just decide to interview more than usual (or both)....🙁 But that would be entirely possible.
 
Hey guys, has u sask been calling anyone? I got 2 missed calls from a Sask area code number so now I'm wondering... I thought they were arranging interviews by email.

Lol okay I'll let you know what they say. Who knows, it could just be a random telemarketer from Saskatchewan calling me, but that would be a weird coincidence. Hopefully if they called, they also tried my home phone where there's an answering machine.

When I went on the tour I asked the dean how many were interviewed (from alberta) and he started by saying there would be 50 then he changed his mind to 40 and then ultimately said he wasn't sure. But I don't think its more than 50. He said he was leaning towards 40.

Im pretty sure they interview approx 30 people first round and approx 10-12 second round... thats what Heather told my friend.
 
To those of you still waiting for interview invites, I just wanna say hang tight! It's not over until they update that portal or someone from admissions confirms all the invites for province X have been sent out. Chins up! I'm thinking of you!
 
Lmao they called back. It was some student survey thing from university of Saskatchewan, nothing to do with the vet school.
 
I know! They said they randomly selected my number from numbers from all around Canada. Now that's a coincidence.

fishfinn, am I crazy or were you in the first round last year?!

I can't believe they haven't sent out all the interviews yet ... or haven't updated their portal. 7 days notice is kind of crazy for ... you know, FLYING somewhere/getting the time off work/making plans for pets etc.

Have you guys got the dates/times of your interviews yet?
 
Yes, Friday afternoon my portal was updated. I agree, that's really short notice. 🙁
 
I know!! I feel bad for out of province people with even 2 weeks notice but that's crazy if they haven't finished e-mailing yet! SK people had to reply by Thursday (I replied the same day which I'm sure most people do) and I was given my date and time Thursday morning.
 
Short notice keeps you on your toes! I really hope that the final decision doesn't get pushed back because everything is so late this year. They did say first week of June, so at least you second rounders won't have long to wait afterwards to find out how you did. 😉
 
Got a confirmation email on Friday about the time of my interview, and just checked my portal now, it was updated. First round interviewers, any general tips on how to prepare? 😀

I think they're probably done and just haven't updated it ... I can't see them sending out MORE interview invites on Tuesday!
 
This is a bit random but in the event I don't get into school this year...

is it possible to have residency to two provinces (like to be able to apply to AVC and WCVM/UCVM)? born and raised alberta, parents still living there, but if I don't get in this year and spend the next year living and working out here in newfoundland, could I apply to all three? I think the technical "rules" look that way but it just doesn't feel right... it feels like you should only have residency in one province.. 😕
 
You can only have residency in one province generally. There's special circumstances, but by moving and working (not going to school), you are essentially moving to that province.

That's something I'm considering doing if I don't get in this year. I'd have to give up AB residency and my ability to apply to UCVM to do so. 🙁

I totally thought you would have gotten an interview since you were first on the wait list!

I've been really concerned about this. 🙁 They haven't said they're all out yet. :xf: Otherwise you really need to talk to them. I'll have really lost faith in the system if that ends up being the case. 🙁
 
ahh yes that's what I thought... UCVM though, re-reading their rules, it's less clear. it says very straightforward that residency lies with the parents, and the only clause is if you've moved to alberta without school you GAIN alberta residency. says nothing about if you leave... WCVM says if you move you change residence. I've heard a few people say they are applying to all three, and it just feels wrong :/

also, wait wait guys, you were first round interviews and first on waitlist and you don't even get a chance to interview this year?! did you take more school and hurt your GPA? how does that even make sense D: are our grades all that close that you can slip from first round to no round without anything changing?! thats actually terrifying. This must be a super competitive year...
