I'm lounging on the bed here in lovely California... had an interesting flight sitting next to a drunk lady who tried to dump her caesar salad on me while she was trying to hide her phone from the flight attendant... while we were in the air... haha. Other than that, it was an okay trip. I met another interviewer on the shuttle here already, but he hadn't heard of SDN. Lame. 😉

Anyway, I'll check in when everything is said and done. Wish me luck!

ETA: LMAO I see what they mean about the freight trains! Haha. It's cool, I like train noise - you can actually hear the trains where I live in OK, granted they're prolly smaller and less frequent. 🙂
 
Good luck TT and all the other interviewees tomorrow! I hope they are prepared to be impressed by all of you!

Oooh, jazz-fondue!! My favorite combination!! I didn't think anything could be better than the possibility of getting accepted to Western, but now you're telling me there's jazz-fondue too?? Can't wait to come out for my interview next Monday. Maybe we can go out for karaoke-kabobs!
 
Okay, so there are tons of cool places to go out to eat, drink, dance etc. within 30 minutes of the school. You can also ski and visit the beach in the same day if you want - both are within short driving distance.

So, SoCal seems really awesome - it's beautiful, there's tons to do, and the weather is awesome. Pomona is NOT that bad... this is coming from the girl that was totally nutting out about it. So, don't freak out like I did.

I met nissan, marcwood, imajerseygirl, cattycat, and trocarkarin... nissan yelled at me a lot, marcwood is really sassy, jerseygirl is a hoot, cattycat is sweet, and trocarkarin is awesome. Haha. Nissan was nice, though - she just likes to yell a lot. It's cool. 😉

I got one "OMG! You're twelvetigers???" ... haha. Weird! I'm not a celebrity, I promise. Pretty normal. :d

I also met marsala, bearby, and tech2vet at the interview. Very classy ladies. 🙂

I think the interview went well, and I left with a really positive impression of the school. The campus is nice, the faculty seemed great, there are some really cool pathologists there, and I think I would do well with PBL once I got the hang of it. I met so many first years, and everyone was very positive and friendly!

If anyone has any questions about the school (like, from someone who just visited and interviewed) feel free to PM me. Of course the first years will know more about stuff, but I can give you my first impression if you want.

I said I thought it went well! I can't self-analyze very well, but I don't think I said anything stupid and the interviewers didn't look horrified at any point, so that's a plus. :d

Marcwood, you guys were all a lot of fun. Even with all the yelling.

Tell the girl with the fancy ponytail and the leather-ish dress that her salt story cracked me up. Haha. Even if she did almost poke my eye when she did a finger-snap thing. 😀

I'm sold on the school, curriculum, faculty, and students. That's probably the best you could hope for, unless you want to 'lend' me $200k too. THEN I'm really sold. :d
 
Don't let my yelling deter anyone from choosing WesternU as their vet school 🙂 I only yell at cool people, and usually only under the influence of jazz-fondue. Gotta be professional, you know.

As for karaoke-kabobs and other potential hanging outs: hell yeah sounds awesome!! 😛 But I don't know how free my schedule will be the closer we get to finals hahaha. I have to pass exams so one of y'all can be my little sib 😛.

Aw thanks, TT! It was great to meet you, too! I'm disappointed that I didn't get to meet the others on Saturday, but hopefully in August I will :luck::xf::luck:.
 
I'm curious as to who initiated the sdn introduction. TT did you do it or did Nissan or Marcwood or one of the other students announce their SDN name as they introduced themselves. 🙂

Any of you first years going to be there Feb 5???
 
Well, jerseygirl came and picked me up in her car. Lol. The others mostly introduced themselves, I think. The 'celeb' moment was when someone in the know let it slip and two lurkers freaked out. It was kind of alarming. 🙂

ETA: I should add that I went to a bday party get together with like, 20 Western first years. It was nuts.
 
Haha...lurkers. That's pretty funny. Darn...I guess I should have asked for 1/29 as my interview day...

Hahahaha you make it sound like we had this planned out formally. We all met at a really cramped restaurant I had trouble finding (I'm bad with directions). I knew ImaJerseyGirl was inviting TT, and when ImaJerseyGirl showed up with a girl I didn't know, I only assumed it was her. And probably yelled a 'Hello' at her. And then shook her hand. Between the hand shake, the food, and me yelling, I probably said that I was "Nissan." Something like that 😛
 
hahaha no I assumed it wasnt planned formally....thats why I was totally curious as to how sdn names came up. Will you be there next weekend???

I'm always near campus or around the area, so technically yes 😛. I can't hang around for too long, but if either you or someone else wants to get together to have a quick lunch (or dinner, since I assume you guys are going to be interviewing all morning-afternoon), I might be free.

I'm actually scheduled to be one of the interview Q&A people on 2/12, in case anyone is interested.
 
Just curious if they gave the people who interviewed an idea of how long it would be until they heard about acceptances?
 
BLancellotti - It sounded like we'd hear in the beginning of March.

I don't think Western applicants find out until march, but I could be wrong.
That will be a looong wait.
 
I found out last year at 11 am on March 15th via email!
 
March?? Oh boy, I can feel those ulcers growing. Oh well, at least I've got plenty of schoolwork to keep me busy.

Yup, today, like 15 mins. ago. I thought decisions were probably already made by now. When are the other interview dates?
 
I don't recall all of the dates that have been posted, but I'm pretty sure the latest option I've seen mentioned thus far was 2/15.

I'm hoping they'll add some if I do end up getting an interview, because I am worried about getting stuck with a date a day or so after I'm supposed leave Minnesota, or having two days to try to book a flight or something.

Neat. I wish we had jazz bars. Well, we do have one, but it's a gay bar. I don't fit in well there.



Also I had the same impression about Western. Was dreading it but left with a really good impression of it. I didn't get to go to any hoppin' 1VM parties while there though. 🙁

Probably cause I use words like "hoppin'"
 
Now that my interview is over, I am even more impressed with Western! I thought I liked their way of teaching before, but now I'm sold on it. What a great way to learn!

I'm missing a prereq, and have until tomorrow at 8 pm EST to rectify this. Fortunately the local University is still within the late add/drop period. Unfortunately, they don't offer an exact match. Fingers crossed that the powers-that-be are happy with the few available offerings left.

I wish they'd let me know if I was even up for consideration, because I'm probably going to end up stuck completing the course or taking a W at this point. I think the free-drop period coincides with the end of late registration.

Did you get stuck in Pomona because of the weather, or were you able to get back?
 
Hey cool! I didn't get stuck in Cali, we left really early Tuesday AM and flew into Houston and back to Pittsburgh. Dallas was closed though.

I just recently moved closer to the area and have no idea what the jazz fondue bar is..is it exactly what the name implies?..jazz bar with fondue? u guys were all talking about it and now im curious as to how good it is!
