Hi everyone,

I'm an M1 and I've been giving a lot of consideration to heme/onc as a specialty (I know its still early to decide).
Would anyone be willing to share what it is like to be a heme/onc doctor?

Given the seriousness and life-threatening nature of the diseases encountered, do you feel like you're actually curing and making a difference or that you're mostly managing people and trying to somewhat restore their quality of life?

What is the best and worst part of your job?

It's f***ing awesome!

Pro-tip...everybody dies. Some of the people who die have cancer. Fewer of them die FROM cancer.

QOL management is the best part of my job.

Way more people die from heart disease than cancer, but you never see this kind of thread in the Cards sub-forum.
