ConseqWWences Game Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm the excel spreadsheet, which you all already know. I've been receiving bits of information about the game every night that is supposed to cohere into enough information to catch a wolf. I'll post them as soon as I get off mobile and onto a computer, since trying to copy and paste them all on a phone is a pain. I also confirmed that kaydubs was a wolf by using the dust off on her.

But.....last night I used the hot dog flash drive on rocky. This is what I got:
"You plugged the hotdog USB in and retrieved Rocky's history. She seems to have... been doing something rather nasty to vetmedhead!"

So, yeah. Don't lynch a villager when there is a 75% chance that rocky is our wolf. Lynch rocky

Have been out all day shadowing. Why lynch guis? While I can't say "oh I know they are 100% villager/not converted", I have been PMing with her all game and even after her resurrection, I have had no reason to believe she is wolfy. Her actions have never been, and have only at least mildly aided the village. Items aren't a 100% sure thing either, but I don't know anything about rocky, so I can get on board.

----lynch rocky----

Unlynch guis, lynch rocky

No particular reason for lynching guis, just didn't know anything about them or a couple others so picked guis. I am on vacation and really not paying attention to this game that should have ended days ago... Also since we are all in one large group my role is pointless, so I shall no longer be using it as of this upcoming night cycle. Those who know my ability understand why it is of no use now.

I have no idea what the flash drive is talking about. Unless it was made up. Because it probably is.

1. Rocky - Disk Drive: You may choose to put in 1 of 4 CDs each night, each with varying effects.

a. You may choose to put in a music CD, which will protect you from night kills for that night. If you are attacked, the wolf will be supercharged and be able to kill 1 extra person the following night.

b. You may put rollercoaster tycoon in, allowing you to block any player of your choosing that night, with a 5% chance that the CD will permanently get stuck in there

c. Back up Disc: Once throughout the game, you will be able to reload the game from the previous night. Anyone who died from the lynch or night will be revived. However, this is an imperfect process, and roles/alliances may get switched around.. You must be alive to use this.

d. Hallmark card maker: You may make a card to send an anonymous message to anyone in the game on the night of your choosing.

The most sinister thing I am capable of is blocking. Also did the backup that razzed PBC as a chaos. I have not once used roller coaster tycoon because I def didn't want to get stuck blocking. Most nights I have used the music CD but I have not been attacked, so no wolves were enhanced by me.

also, why does STL always give me so many dang abilities? :p

Meanwhile, as a dead person I have no clue what's going on. I recently started a house haunting business though. Sort of like house sitting, but I'll open all of your kitchen cabinets and fill your bathtub with blood. Feel free to PM me if you know any people who need a good ol fashioned haunting.

I get that this is mod provided information and therefore hard to disprove, but the item was definitely in the 25 percent wrong category. I hate to not a lynch a wolf this late, but I guess there really isn't much I can do.

Sorry for the delay, had to clarify a few things...

You all decided to fry a "vital" piece of the PC today. You decided to get rid of the CD player. The question is, was the CD player a benign entity, or was a virus laying within its wakes. Well, the answer won't surprise a good number of you.

Dead is Rocky, CD drive, Villager.

It is night 15. Deadline is set for 10 am CST (or tonight if everyone gets in all of their actions).

Also, good luck village fam ;)

The night did not go the way that the villagers had hoped. We start with Guis approaching Finnick in the night. “I think I have finally calculated out who a wolf is Finn! Funny enough, it is one of the two people in this room,” Guis looks up at Finn, laughing.

“Well, it’s not me, I swear. I know I may be a….”

“Yes, yes. You are the sketchy porn site. You are someone with such great power, who could have blocked us. You could have even controlled our every nights actions. And yet you stayed in the background doing nothing. For your inactivity, you must pay.”

The virus emerged outwards from Guis, infecting the porn site, and effectively shutting it down from the internet.

Dead is Finnickthedog, Sketchy Porn Site, Villager.

Next up, Lupin came across Deva. “You know, I never would have known it.” Lupin glared up at Deva, mischievously.

“:Know what? I am not the wolf you are looking for.”

“Oh of course not. I just never would have known an affiliation seer was left. Heck, until Guis found out last night that an affiliation seer was still left, we thought that all the seers were dead. I mean, you really played it under the radar, by you know, not seering at all. Definitely an interesting approach.” Lupin laughs deviously to herself.

“Wait so that means?”

“Oh yes, now for fun, let’s just have Kaydubs finish you off. Lupin takes the ILY virus from the recycling bin (which ironically enough, she would have been able to do once if she had wanted to) and brought it back to life. Kaydubs sprints into Deva’s program. Eliminated was her program at once.

Dead is Deva, Surveillence Epidemiology and End Result Program (SEER program), Villager

We move on to our final victim, poor old DVMD. You see, DVMD was just trying to make some love happen all game, being E-Harmony and all, and she actually paired more wolves throughout the game then she paired villagers. Unfortunately, Dyachei had to put an end to her reign, and let a virus emerge from her, resulting in the untimely take down of DVMD’s website….

Dead is DVMD, E-Harmony, Villager

WOLVES WIN!

Anyways, I'm kinda of sad my music CD never played this:

Villagers need to care, think things through and communicate to win, especially so in a conversion heavy game. There were quite a few missed opportunities in this game, and combined with the wolves getting stupid lucky on the resurrection front (1/4 chance of Guis being a wolf, 1/3 for Dy) it led to their win.

Thanks everyone, for both playing and for putting up with my sometimes hurried write-ups and often late items. :D

This was a fun first foray into WW! Let me know when the sign ups for the next game roll around and I'll be there. :)

This was the first game I've ever been resurrected in, and it happened twice! Thanks for the game, mods!

I was aligned villager, chaos, and lone wolf at different points, and none of those factions won. What are the odds? :p

Also just wanna say I did seer, just definitely not a whole lot. My consequence was that every time I seered had a 50% chance to give the wolves an extra, unblockable kill, so when the game first started I was lik "oh no I have to be careful and use this wisely!" but as time went on and it became clear that the game would be long (because no one was frickin dying :p), I started using it more, and I don't think I ever happened to land on the consequence anyway. I seered Aloha as chaos, Lupin as villager....very surprised I was still able to last so long.

Kicking myself for not seering Guis immediately post-rez, I incorrectly assumed that whoever got the dust-off that night would do so--there was one night where I seered PBC (and she was chaos) but it happened to be at the same time that Zen(?) used the dust-off on her so it was a useless double. I had mild suspicions of Dy too but hadn't chosen any night actions for the past several nights because of being busy/lazy, I'm sorry villagers...

Consequences twice, actually, but IIRC correctly one of the kills was the night the wolves separately attacked the conjoined FFM/KC so it was a bit moot.

Most people figured it out, but that was my tiebreaker btw... both the people who tied had their abilities combined and only received one vote between the two of them going forward, would die if either died. Not sure if it was particularly successful but I thought it was a little more fun than just killing both off or RNGing.

Mods need to stop having insanely long games, 538737473 resurrection and really think about mechanics before implementing them. Yes, I'm sure the ball was dropped by some, but you can't expect people to keep paying attention when the game lasts forever, tons of players come back, one player can basically control all votes and another can NPC a player who actually wants to play.

Oh I see! I had assumed I'd be notified if/whenever the consequence happened and thought I'd been unusually lucky. (I mean until today I thought the game was going better for the villagers than it really was :p)

Don't remember if I missed something there, but what would have been the eventual fate of the "undead army" thing going on?

This game was only one day longer than my Favourite Things and the same length as Rick & Morty and I never, ever dealt with as many complaints about length. It's not a game I would have designed necessarily (I just stepped in to help run things) but peoples' preconceptions of it being an insane STL game definitely coloured the way they approached it imo. It took a while for people to get dead, but then there was a day where like 9 people hit the grave for good and that brought it to reason. Unfortunately, I think many people had kind of given up already by that point.

Very, very similar role to the one WZ compared it to in... Necromancers?
You are one of the first computer viruses. However, you have long since been outdated, and need to be reinvigorated. If you are killed by a wolf, you will auto convert to the wolves as opposed to dying. If you are lynched by villagers, you will survive the lynch and be converted to a lone wolf that can reinvigorate dead programs. If you are able to raise back to life 8 dead programs OR survive until end game with at least 5 dead programs (aka with 3 players remaining) you will win. Your revived dead players cannot vote and will appear as undead programs, but will be able to communicate with your minions directly, and they will be able to post on the thread SO LONG as they do not in any way reveal a wolf. If they do so, even by accident, you will die in place of the person lynched that day.
She was switched to lone wolf by being controlled by Aloha in this instance, though, not by being lynched. Aloha was helpfully boosting her rezzing for the couple nights afterward, which is why we had double rezzes for a bit there.

Yeah, I do see your point, but still something to consider as a mod. Will doing something cause people to just tune out right away? Because you don't want that either.

I really did like the concept, for every action there was something else to consider. Heck, even my role consequence finally happened with WZ and LIS, which actually surprised me. I linked them as a joke, kind of funny they died together.

I giggled a LOT when I saw them dying together! Seemed so fitting. :D

Thanks for the game mods. It was at times insanely frustrating due to my horrendous luck, but it was a good first venture into being chaos. I was rooting for the villagers, but props to the wolves for winning nonetheless. Also, shout out to dvmd for listening to all of my ramblings this game. It was fun.

Wow, that was a sudden ending! Thanks for the game mods, even though I was pissy for part of my time playing and apathetic for the other part  I really was going to reread on my day off but then I ended up dead!

Woo! Go wolves! :p:D Thanks mods for letting me be a baby NPC wolf this game. Had a lot of fun helping them out when I could but not having to super pay attention when clinics got busy.

Whenever I die, villagers lose. I had a dang good ability too! Next game, protect me.

Anyway, good game mods!

It's what happens when games last way too long and have random mechanics.

I mean, good going wolves but meh, I'm ready for a simple game again with less random mechanics that doesn't last forever.

Yeah. It also happens because games have been balanced more and more toward wolf wins.

It still doesn't make sense to me that so many mods try and balance to a 50:50 villager:wolf win rate..... I feel like the win ratio should more approximate the villager:wolf ratio, NOT be a 50/50 chance for both sides.

So, I feel like villagers should win 75-80% of the time, basically. But I know that many people don't agree with that. (But it should clue you in on what to expect in a game I mod.)

Nevertheless, good game, wolves. Very well played. Not trying to take anything away from you.

I enjoyed STL's mechanisms in this game. One of his best games, in my opinion, the whole 'balance' thing aside.
