2024-2025 Missouri - Kansas City

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OOS Rejection but as expected with how many seats they have! Did get accepted elsewhere 🙂

OOS (and Out Of Region) R after II too. How did you feel about MMI interviews at this school versus the other one you got accepted to? This was my first II and R. I felt good about my interviews here and even had a few of the professors that I really connected with. How much do our MMIs factor into the decisions (here)? I want to be prepared for my next set of interviews in a couple weeks. My gut tells me that I killed the interviews, but it was just a long shot being an OOS and out-of-region applicant.

Not OP, but I don’t think MMI style of interview is that common. I got two other interviews and they are both the traditional one on one format.

IS A yesterday. First A, very grateful - am quite on the fence about whether or not to attend. We will see !

Ahh, I see. Thanks for your feedback! My next interview employs both MMI and 1-on-1. I don’t think interviewing via Zoom and in MMI format is a very effective strategy for getting a good read on applicants tbh (although I’m not sure my interviews were the problem in my case). I’m definitely a fan of the 1-on-1/
in-person interviews though.

Unfortunately all my interviews are virtual which sucks because I can’t stare at my camera without looking weird.

New here, so please forgive any bad etiquette if I do stuff wrong. Just got an OOS A to UMKC at the St. Joseph campus this past Wednesday. I’m pretty excited and will probably be attending, but I’m waiting to hear back from a few other schools too. I won’t even hear back until at least 15 OCT, and far more likely mid to late NOV. Does anyone know the rules for accepting with UMKC? The early January start date has me pretty confused. When do we need to identify it as our only school on AMCAS? I know I can accept the offer in the portal, but at what point must I withdraw from my other apps? With other schools, if you get in off a waitlist past April 30, you can still attend, but when I called AMCAS to ask for specifics, they sounded like they had no clue what the answer was and they didn’t seem motivated to figure it out for me either.

I agree the UMKC website appears to be unclear about the timeline regarding AMCAS withdrawal of other applications. I believe I saw from previous UMKC SDN threads that applicants accepted UMKC's offer and didn't withdraw (ended up getting accepted elsewhere). They ended up losing both acceptances when UMKC contacted the other schools, so it is a very risky gamble. I think once you accept, don't look back. If you prefer to wait for other schools, let UMKC go. Don't try to gamble and lose both in the end.

As spongebobcirclepants stated above, it is highly not recommended. I graduated from UMKC recently. We all knew people who lost both acceptances by trying to play this game.

as current applicant on WL, wondering if anyone would be willing to share if they are contemplating declining their acceptance. trying to gauge if i should remain hopeful

also IS A planning on declining - there's gotta be a lot of WL movement, yall got this

I got more interviews at different schools but I’m afraid I’ll hear back from the waitlist before them, forcing me to make the commit decision.

Current student who got in off the waitlist on Oct 31st of last year. There tends to be a good bit of waitlist movement. Good luck!

Anyone with an A and questions about the school can feel free to DM me.

Were you waiting on other school decisions before committing or did you already decide beforehand ?

I am a current UMKC MD only accepted last cycle. If you have any questions about the school, or process feel free to message me!

I was, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth risking an MD acceptance for a slightly more favorable outcome. Off the WL I believe I had a week to accept the spot and then about a month or so to withdraw from other schools.

I am not in the group, but was accepted, where do I join?
Go to the prematriculation tab in the portal and there’s a tab for communication or something like that halfway down. Click that and the GroupMe link is the first thing on that page.

Edit: you have to have accepted the offer to see it

Got an email stating that the cycle is still open and asking those on the WL to know if they are still interested. Hoping and praying I get in 🙏
