What is everyone's opinion about retaking non-prerequisites courses to increase cumulative GPA?
- Is it worth the time?
- Should I spend my time on something else?
My stats for context
OB hours: 1500+ (geri, peds, sports, ortho, neuro, inpatient and outpatient and SNF)...
As of now I have been:
Waitlisted to one program
Waitlisted for interview at another
and the rest I haven't heard back from
So just in case I want to prepare for the next cycle. So please give me honest opinions on what I can do to improve my application.
Hey everyone! I just interviewed for the University of Miami's DPT program on 10/16 and wanted to open this thread to hear from anyone else who is applying or has already been accepted. Feel free to ask any questions if you're still waiting for an interview and if you've already been accepted...
I was just accepted into UNLV and now I am stressing over deciding what school to go to, as I was acepted into MUSC several weeks ago and put down a deposit. I feel like they are such different schools, but they both really interest me. I received a scholarship to UNLV which is a huge factor. I...
So I had an interview at Rocky Mountain University and I'm curious how long it usually takes to hear back from a school once you have interviewed? My second question is when do schools generally interview people? Is there a month of the year that is most popular? I want to know what is...
Recently received my acceptance offer to UMES for the DPT program starting Fall 2019. I'm curious if anyone else has heard back from them who is considering going there or even if anyone has accepted/committed. Figured we could use a page to stay in touch or talk to other potential students. Any...
July is coming up quick, and so I'm just getting ready for my first round of PT school applications. Before I apply, what do you think are my chances of getting in based on these stats below?

Hello! So I applied to the UTHSC DPT program last year and didn't get in, but I'm currently trying to do everything I can to become a more competitive candidate- one of them includes moving back to Memphis for a number of reasons.
I am currently looking for physical therapy technician jobs in...
I was recently invited to an early interview with FIU and was wondering if the decision is binding if I were to accept an offer?
If anyone has already attended an early interview (NOT early decision) and can give me an answer I would greatly appreciate it!
Was there any...
I'm posting this here to help others who are anxiously checking their phone, email, etc for a response from their ED school! A few of us have heard back already, a lot of us should hear soon, and unfortunately many of us will hear back at the deadline.
Post here when you hear back...
I am in the process of adding my club memberships into the Extracurriculars section of PTCAS.
As an example, I am currently adding my experience as a member of the Pre-PT club. I entered the start and end dates for the experience, but it is also asking me for "status," and the choices are...
I was wondering about the GRE scores. I know a lot of people on these forums say that if you do not meet the minimum stated, they wont look at your application. I emailed long beach asking them and they said its a recommendation to look competitive and not a requirement.
I am wondering would repetition of GRE damage the image of my application. I already took the GRE twice and still didn`t get the desired result. I plan to take it again. I know some of the schools just dont care and take the highest scores. But I am still concerned with that . First...
Check out this link to weekly videos on my journey and experience pre-PT and as a PTA going DPT. I didn't find anything helpful when I started here back in 2014 but thought I could help anyone following a similar path or the PTA/PT path! Might also be some other life related videos...
Would anyone be willing to review my essay? The topic is "What have you done to improve as a re-applicant?"
I'm really looking to send a polished essay and would be grateful if someone could let me know what they think of my rough draft. If you need an essay read as well, I...
First of all, good luck to everyone applying this cycle!! For all of us re-applicants, this year is our year! In the spirit of the application season, I just wanted to throw out a question a lot of us may be struggling with: how do you choose between two DPT programs?
Hello! I am a bit nervous about applying to DPT programs because my grades are not ideal.
I have a 3.0 science GPA and a 3.3 overall GPA.
The last classes that I have taken were: Kinesiology, Biomechanics w/ lab, Exercise Physiology w/ lab, Therapeutic Modalities w/ lab.. I have gotten a...

I am writing in regards to my fiancé.
He is in his second year of studying for a Bachelors in Clinical Exercise Physiology in Australia, and has been offered a place in the accelerated Bachelor of Physiotherapy program at Griffith University.
Our plan is to move to the U.S. once he...
I am currently an undergrad bio major at Rutgers University and just calculated my science GPA and it is low as hell! My overall GPA is a 3.1 but my science GPA is a 2.3! I failed Orgo twice before finally passing with a C. I've basically gotten C's in nearly all of my science classes except...
I am a sophomore and have recently switched from Biology to Pre-Physical Therapy. Despite my decent grades (As-B+s), I feared my upper level Biology classes, as I thought I didn't have much interest in most of them, and didn't want a bad GPA. I was especially affected by my Genetics lecture and...
Hi everyone, so as the question states I'm wondering if I'm too old to pursue PT. The reason why I ask is that I'm 24 years old right now and haven't had my first real job yet. (Currently a Cook at a restaurant) I'm currently in school for business administration because I was thinking about...
As promised, here are my videos discussing what you should know or become aware of as you start the transition into, or finish the application process for physical therapy school.
The four videos in the playlist so far...

Volunteering: ~50 Hrs at VA outpatient Clinic
I am a third year DPT student, and have started a vlog concerning all things PT school. I have had many requests to shed some light on the process of applying, getting in, and so forth regarding PT school.
I'm hoping to discover the most common questions you, as Pre-PT students, have as you're...
Hey everyone, I want to share a resource that I have been working on for the past few months. I have developed a video blog named RUSH SPT that discusses academic strategies for PT school, financial information, and shares clinical experiences from my classmates and myself. I have also added a...
I am looking for honest feedback/advice regarding my situation. I graduated from engineering school in 2011. I had one W and one semester of all C's. I took a gap year after graduating where I shadowed and volunteered. I then got an engineering job, but after the training it was not the...
