yup, talked with admissions last week. They dont even crack open the regular admission applicant's files until mid October after they are done with EDP.

Hey everyone! Simple question but I'm having a difficult time explaining my "rapport" with my mother and father? I'm planning on describing it with one or two sentences b/c im using bullet points for this section but was wondering how everyone else answered this? Parents not divorced, been an important part of my life, still in good relationship with parents..what else do they want!? lol

Then put that....Don't overanalyze. We all think they want something more in answer. Sometimes they are just curious about the terms you are on with your parents and aren't looking about some dramatic story of overcoming odds. 😉

Told you so. 😉 Seriously, take that feeling you have now with the acceptance and file it away. You're going to need it every now and then, especially during second year. We have an exam this Friday. I was at school from 7:30 a.m. till 12:50 a.m. Granted, I had to do preceptor and some other stuff, it was still pretty rough. I'm about to pass out now.

Oh, that wasn't intended to be a downer by the way. Overall, I really enjoy it but there are few things that can really prepare you for the academic bootcamp that is med school. I'd say it is more like BUD/S, but that is probably residency. Have a beer, good dinner and relax until orientation. You earned it and will need it. 😉 This is my favorite thing I will never want to go through again.

I'm starting to get soooo antsy! I heard they might've started interviewing regular decision, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone know? I check my e-mail more than my FB page these days...sadddd.

Edp usually goes through till the end of September and then early to mid October is regular from what I've seen.

I was complete within a few days that they even sent out secondaries back in the day. I didn't get invited for an interview until the end of September or beginning of October. That interview was then scheduled a month later. Just be patient. There is some degree of randomness to it.

Interview invite! So excited about this school. I'd be the biggest Nole fan if i got accepted. 🙂

:laugh:, it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to be worrying about not getting an invite. This is their first batch of interviews. I had 2 friends last year who were complete in July and didn't get an interview till Jan/Feb. No need to even think about being worried yet!

It feels really erratic sometimes. I remember being complete in July and never hearing a thing until realistically, mid-october-ish. I thought it was earlier, but I realized that I went on about 5 or 6 interviews already. Some of my friends were complete over a month after me and got interviews and acceptances weeks before.
 
Just got an interview invite today! However, first date is this Friday? Well, that's short notice. Definitely won't be able to make that seeing as I attend school in Texas and have an interview here tomorrow! Oh well, so if we cannot make the first date, do we just send back a Friday or Monday date that we would like and ask if they can interview us that day?

They usually just offer you the first available. If you WANT to interview later than that then they will most likely accomodate you. A lot of people don't like to wait a long period between invite and interview, so they tend to give you first dibs.
 
Anyone know how many apps FSU gets/interviews/accepts? I can't find my MSAR. Thanks in advance.

Btw, we only had one kid interview last Friday, so evidently a lot of people were given short notice and couldn't make it.

Keep the boards alive. Come on now. If you knew me in person, you'd know I'm not a very "rah rah" person, but I do hate losing and do enjoy answering questions (most of the time).

The exception is usually the "what are my chances?" type questions. I don't hold it against you if you already asked me, but I have little to no say in that department. You will usually get a reply along the lines of, "Apply and see what happens." If you are given an interview, it means your academics/mcat/ecs were fine, so it is all about showing up, being yourself and trying to have fun. I'm aware it is a high pressure situation, but you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. Ok, maybe not AS much, but you get the point.

wish they'd offer me an interview so i could jump on the next flight...granted i don't have an exam😀
 
I've heard some outrageous credit card debts from people in years past. Keep in mind, if you give me a heads up me, or someone else can offer at least a couch the night before. So, that saves on hotel cost and I'd probably provide breakfast options as well. 😉

I have faith that all of you will get interviews. Sdn people tend to be a little more neurotic and obsessive than most. Plus, the simple act of seeking out this site shows that you want it a bit more.

As a teacher, I'm definitely not rich. However, I do live 2.5 hours from the school and I already have a suit from a previous interview. 😉

She said her window was breaking apart. Her car was so messed up and affording plane tickets was rough for her so she couldn't make it to another Fl. interview.

so unless you are like her situation was then yeah I think 2.5 hours is no biggie. A plane ride from either Miami or people out of state is bigger issue. Plane tickets are so jacked up these days.

It isn't that awful of a drive from Miami. I drove down there for 2 interviews myself. I also drove to Bradenton and LMU in Tennessee. I did fly to San Francisco, Phoenix and Kansas city and then rented cars at each place. THOSE were expensive, although the cars were fairly reasonable because my insurance plan.
