Has anyone been offered a spot in the bridge program yet?
I’m not sure if they directly accept into Bridge or if they put you on the waitlist and then notify you of the bridge acceptance in the spring

How does FSU COM feel about application updates/letter of interest before II?

That's accurate-ish. All Bridge potentials are placed on the waitlist after first being evaluated for the regular class. Our Bridge selection committee meets in late March/early April and will select the Bridge class then.

We are good with significant updates for applicants that have a complete application. We do not accept letters of interest/intent from non-interviewed folks.

Anyone who interviewed in the last 2 weeks get their decision email yet?

From what i read in their website. they would typically make decisions/send out interviews invitations on tuesday/thursday's.

Hi there,

For this specific question, I would reach out to [email protected] for an update.

Hi there,

Not sure where you see that information on our website. I will caution you about speaking for us as this can cause confusion for folks.

The Interview Invites do not go out on any specific days; we send them out when we have enough applicants for specific dates.

As for decision communications; specific dates and times are given to applicants when they come in to interview.

Hope that helps!

Did you all send out IIs this week?

Does FSU ad com go through applications in order of submission? For example, if someone submitted their secondary in October would it be reasonable to expect to potentially hear back about an interview in January?

Did anyone get an interview invite from FSU today?

Does anyone know how/when we receive a decision after interviews? I was so focused on correctly spelling my interviewer's name for thank you notes that I missed some details of when to expect the notification. My committee review date was this week and I keep refreshing my email like crazy.

I haven’t seen anyone post anywhere they got interview last week unless was sent to very few people.

Nevermind, got an A today! Good luck everyone, we can do this!

Has anyone that interviewed 11/14 heard about their decision? They said we would hear the same day as our selection committee meeting on 12/2, so I'm starting to get worried (maybe unnecessarily).

I interviewed 11/13 and was also told we would hear 12/2 but I haven’t received anything either

Hello there and welcome to the new year!

We will be sending out our first round of interview invites this week. Will be interviewing until the end of March.

Thanks!

@FSUAdmissionsOffice Regarding the master’s bridge program, is there a minimum MCAT that you guys accept?
Hey there,

Typically, we are looking for an MCAT range of 495-502 for the accepted Bridge students, but will look at MCAT scores lower than that.

Thanks

@FSUAdmissionsOffice Hello! I would like to ask for general clarification regarding the Bridge Program. For applicants who may be considered from Regular Decision for the Bridge Program, are those interviews usually conducted later in the cycle, or do they overlap with regular decision interviews? I am very interested in FSU COM's mission as it aligns closely with my interests, and I wanted to obtain some clarification! Thank you for all of your help and for being very responsive on here!

I hope the spots aren’t filling up too much and some of us still have a chance. FSU is my top choice. Fingers crossed!! 🤞

Same here!! Fingers crossed we receive some good news soon 😊

Anyone received II in January? It’s been so quiet. Still hopeful.

I feel like FSU admissions has a minimum MCAT or GPA that they are willing to accept for regular MD class (just like any other program) so when they offer an interview invite to an applicant with a score/gpa less than that they should mention in the interview invite email that it is for the BRIDGE program as they obviously like your mission and application (since they want to offer an interview) but they still feel like you need some extra academic work. I'm so thankful that I got an interview as it is my #1 choice but I did not know that they do not tell applicants that they're going to be mostly considered for the BRIDGE program given the low mcat score/gpa and now I'm bummed because I have a super low mcat and got so excited to be offered a regular interview invite only to now find out that I could just be put as a BRIDGE candidate and take those extra steps. Grateful nonetheless but just a thought. There are other programs that when they send you an interview invite they mention that they like your application but you will only be considered for their post-bac program due to low stats (but you still have to the regular MD interview with the regular pool of applicants) and I like that transparency as I don't get bummed when decisions come out and its not for regular MD entrance. Sorry this is so long. Was not sure how to word it correctly.
When did you get an interview invite?

Does anyone know a success story of anyone with an mcat of 498-501 getting in? I know there have been applicants that have interviewed but sometimes they just WL you and put you as a candidate for their bridge program.

I just dont know if they interview you with the intention of WL and considering you for the bridge program since they liked you as an applicant but not your mcat score or if they interview you normally with the intention of accepting (even with such a low mcat score) but it wasn't enough and you got WL and THEN get put on the bridge candidate list.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Sorry if it is a bit confusing I was not sure how to word it correctly lol

From what i have seen over the last few cycles that i was in, FSU has become very competitive w.r.t "stats". although the website tells "holistic" but stats play a bigger role to get an Acceptance like any other Med school. However i will let FSU admissions weigh in as they might disagree with my experience.

Hi all,

Just a couple of quick points:
  • Interview invites go out every other week or so - The latest invites went out middle of last week; next ones will likely go out middle of next week. Please remember that just because you aren't seeing things posted, doesn't mean they aren't happening.
  • Bridge Program - All applicants we invite for an interview are interviewing for a spot in the regular class. If, at the time of Selection, an applicant's entire record/performance is better suited for the support offered by our Bridge Program, we will place them on hold for a potential Bridge spot. If you are disappointed at the prospect of potentially joining our Bridge program, we may not be a fit for you.
  • Holistic Review/Stats - While it may be difficult to understand, we stand by our Holistic and Mission-Aligned admissions process. Stats: MCAT & GPA are but one of many important factors we look at when evaluating applicants. We are looking for applicants who want to serve the most vulnerable populations in Florida, a strong record of community service, a strong record of shadowing and clinical experience, a strong interest in exploring Primary Care, a strong academic record, a strong sense of self, and a strong record of involvement and leadership. LORs, Research activity, personal background, and updates are all part of this evaluation; and that's just what we see in the application!
Given that I am intimately involved in the incredibly detailed, difficult Holistic & Mission-Aligned admissions process, I whole-heartedly disagree that we focus is on "stats". That would be way easier than what we do. It would also take a lot less time. Why do you all think our admissions process goes from October-April? Because it takes a long time to do what we do!

Thanks for your questions, concerns, and comments. It's a true pleasure to get to share this space with you all.
