So, with October 15 coming up, I'm wondering how Vandy makes offers. Does anyone remember them saying if they email, snail mail, phone call, etc.? If so, I wonder if they will make offers on the 15th. So anxious!

Phone call. And people last year were notified on the 15th.
 
Sounds like the 15th is going to be a big day for waiting by the phone! Good luck to everyone who has already interviewed. Can't wait to hear who gets the call :luck:
 
Me again...my LOR's still have not been marked as received and I am interviewing this Friday. They say on the site that they will talk to you about it at the interview, but I'm a neurotic pre-medder so I don't trust it. Anyone have any advice here?

Thanks! 3.9 sGPA, 3.8 cGPA, 30P. Post-marked 10/8. Obviously I was pretty surprised since I have below-average stats but I think my research and life experiences got me the invite.

for those of you that have interviewed already: does vanderbilt have anything the evening before the interview (like a dinner)?

Well I just remember looking through MDApps and seeing that people marked they were accepted on 10/15. How accurate that is, who knows, but that's what people reported.

That could be true. I think what I remember was that last year's thread didn't have anyone getting a phone call until the 16th. But those two things aren't mutually exclusive🙂

I can't decide if I hope so or hope not🙂 This is the only school I will hear from around this time.....and if it is waitlist (which I think it will be since my interview BLEW) then I will just be sad until Thanksgiving.
 
I did more research:

MSAR from two years ago: Vandy Said they would give out acceptances October 15th, and they accepted on Oct 15th.

MSAR from one year ago: Vandy said they would give out acceptances October 16th, and they accepted on Oct 16th.

MSAR this year: Vandy said they would give out acceptances Oct. 16th.

So it looks like tomorrow..
 
Hey guys!

Man, I can't believe it's been 2 years since I was accepted already. Getting that phone call was one of the best moments of my life, and I know Dean Zic really loves making the calls because people get so excited. Once you get into med school, your fate is sealed- from then on, you're just floating on a cloud telling everyone you're going to be a doctor. Enjoy it!

Anyways, no more cheesiness. My year, the phone calls were made on the 15th late at night (it was like 9ish pm in California if I remember correctly when I got the call). Last year there was a bit of a delay. Usually this kind of thing is unpredictable- it depends on whether everything was in on time, Dean Zic's availability, etc. One way or the other, I'm guessing most of you who interviewed in August/September will find out by Tuesday of next week.

Congrats on having made it this far, and if you get in, I really hope you consider coming here. I still think it's the best school in the world.

I called and asked. They said they would mail letters out Monday. I guess because the 16th is during the weekend. Do they give phone calls? The lady acted like all they do is mail a letter. I want a call!!!
 
First (and hopefully my last) rejection. Vandy was one of my favorite schools too. oh well, better luck to everyone else.
 
I interviewed here this week. Pat Sagen said that AMCAS called them and reminded them they can't admit until AFTER October 15th. So it won't be today.
 
I'm wondering if they mailed the letters Friday or if they will mail them out tomorrow. This waiting is KILLING ME!!! :scared:

I also hope they also do phone calls again this year so we don't have to wait for the snail mail. :xf:
 
Just interviewed here on Friday. I really hope that they get back to us with a decision sooner than 6-8 weeks. Antsy!

As for how Dean Zic will contact people this year, I have no idea, sorry. I'm guessing he'll call on monday, otherwise wait for a letter. Yes, I realize this is wholly unhelpful.
 
For those that submitted their secondary, have you checked out the Experience Timeline link on the status page? It's kind of a cool little feature. Wish I had more space in it filled up 🙄

hmm i interviewed in august and didn't get a call 🙁

what does that mean?
 
Well, the day is not over yet. I'm hoping some more calls will come out later tonight or tomorrow morning.
 
Dug this out of the first page, it could be useful:

7) within a few weeks, starting Oct 15 or thereabouts, you'll either get a phone call from Dean Zic followed by a thick letter envelope in the mail, or just the thick envelope with the acceptance (this is rare I think, usually Dean Zic tries to call), or the thin letter with a WAITLIST. Yes, we don't reject post-interview. Yes, if you're on the wait list, you will hate this. Don't ask me how the waitlist works because I have no clue, but I do know that you're "re-considered" at every meeting, so if you're really borderline you might get accepted in January after being waitlisted in December. Or you might be waitlisted forever. I don't know if extra LORs and letters of intent work.

8) usually, the waitlist doesn't move a whole lot, but it does move a little bit every year. If you're in the unfortunate majority, you'll be in limbo from the day you get your waitlist until kingdom come. Sorry. Generally after May 15th they look at how many spots have opened up and start rejecting a bunch of waitlistees, leaving a smaller group of people who may be accepted if someone from the class drops.

No call yet...but it's like midnight there...I wonder how long they'll be up to make calls now...
 
Only 2 SDNers mentioned getting accepted so far, so I have a feeling they didn't disclose too many acceptances today.

ehh...SDN definitely doesn't represent the full pool of applicants, and many people don't post. Looking at last couple years, only 2-4 people posted acceptances on the first night. But hopefully you are right!
 
I really wish that were the case...but...

I think UMich sent out 60+ acceptances, but only a handful of people posted that they got in/deferred/waitlisted on the thread...so relying on SDN isn't too good, I guess. Ack! It's only 9:18 here so I'm still holding out for that call =)
