i mean the email is essentially a scanned version of the signed letter they mail out. but i'm glad they're emailing it b/c if it gets lost in the mail that would suck so hardcore

Not a fun secondary though. The three essays (autobiography, "what do you add to our class", and challenge) really kind of overlap heavily. Smartest strategy is probably to plan all three together.

I just got the interview invite through the mail!! I'm a Vandy undergrad, so my letter only had to travel across campus. But everyone else's should be coming. 😀

Got a similar sounding invite via e-mail (a scanned letter). Subject of the email says "VUSM Invitation to Interview-Email followed by hard copy" so they are still mailing letters. I can't imagine they are e-mailing some and snail mailing others, but who knows.

I'm in Missouri. Got it at 8 am this morning (8/6/10). Still haven't received the physical letter.

hey actually im gonna mirror a previous question. would you guys mind posting the date that you were complete

aka received the following email:
"Vanderbilt University School of Medicine has received your AMCAS application via electronic transmission. We are so excited that you are an applicant to Vanderbilt's 2011 First Year Class! If the screening committee approves your application, an invitation to complete our secondary application and interview at VUMS will be mailed to the preferred address listed on your AMCAS application..."

I just realized that I got that email on August 2nd... did those of you with interview invites receive that email signficantly earlier?

im just trying to judge whether i missed this batch or if i should prepare for bad news

Yay! Glad to hear it. Let me know when you interview and I'll come by and say hey (this goes for whoever wants to meet me/ ask questions!).

And congrats to everyone who has gotten the interview invite. I guess this year it's a bit of a mess, and I agree that if they're going to do email only, letter only, and email + letter they should at least add the cake option as well.

As always, let me know if you have any questions that I can actually answer, and DON'T WORRY IF YOU HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYTHING, JUST WAIT FOR SOME KIND OF CORRESPONDENCE.

I got my interview invite on Friday and got the welcome email 7/21.

Nope, not yet... I guess they want to mess with our minds b4 finally dumping us...sheeshhh - not so good for ones moral, but hey I guess I like the fact that I wont have a do a secondary or cough up additional fees if I'm not getting an interview, lol. so I lie Vandy for that...lol

Yay!!!! Interview Invite/Secondary via snail mail today (not e-mail like some other folks). I received their initial "we have received your app" e-mail on 7/21. 🙂 Hope this goes well because Vandy is one of my top choices!
