Hahaha. My money is on Clint Eastwood.
Haha, yeah I am sure he did. I guess its a good selling point to use though, considering at most schools you are only watching the delivery."Mark Scott gave the example of how even as students, we should be the lead in delivering a couple dozen babies, etc."
lol he said that during my interview too
Just received an email from a first year, Brent Griffin. The email read like it was directed towards students who were already accepted, but I am still eagerly waiting for that acceptance letter in the mail. Anyone know if the email was sent to all students interviewed or only those accepted?
Well their website says they'll mail out final acceptances on March 15 so maybe that's when they "lower the bar".Does anyone know if there will be more acceptances before the waitlist comes out?
called yesterday and they said not to expect any movement until april 1

I called yesterday as well and got the same thing. Did he mention to you whether rejections have been made? He told me that they are deciding whether to accept a few more or go straight to the waitlist, but made no mention of additional rejections. Probably wishful thinking on my part, but my nerves are shot at this point so I need something! He sounded a little annoyed, so I didn't press for any additional information...
no.. but i was really confused as to what they meant by movement. have they already sent out more acceptances since the last interviews? i dont see how they can go straight to wait list because they said they usually only have a small waitlist and most of those people get accepted.
Spoke with Mark Scott recently. He said wait list will be put together 1st week of April and notifications will be sent then. Heard from a friend that he is currently on vacation, and updates will resume next week when he returns. Hope all of you aren't dying from anticipation as I am.
My guess is that they're a little behind due to waiting of UAB's waitlist to shake up the pot for their class. Hopefully waitlisters will start getting notification earlier than June this year. I am really hoping to join the class @ USA this coming year.
Well I was rejected in 2010 after interviewing and receiving a hold card. I also found a website that says they accept only 120 of the 225 applicants they interview so that's about half that eventually get cut.does usa reject a lot of people after interview?

Not sure how reliable the site that says 120 are accepted is though (the 225 comes from South's website)

For clarification, South accepts 120 students average per year to fill their 74 spots. About 50 or so accepted applicants decide to attend other schools. This is what the wait list is for. About 220 are interviewed and about 170 of those are waitlisted or accepted in late march / early April I believe. so if you have a hold card, you will either be waitlisted or denied if I recall correctly.I'm not sure about the accepted number, but the number of applicants and class size are both larger than the listed value. If I had to guess, I'd say that the number of acceptances is higher also.
There is a form they send out when accepted that says you are automatically considered for merit based scholarships but the form has some other scholarships that you might qualify for depending on what county you grew up in and I believe a scholarship for rural medicine.Does anyone know if South has a scholarship application, or do they automatically award merit-based scholarships?

Last year, waitlist came out on a Wednesday (March 30) at around 2:45pm.
Thanks for letting us know! Now I can calm down my incessant email checking! 🙂Just called the admissions office and asked for an update. The lady said that the alternate list and rejection letters will likely go out the first of next week. And that there will be no more acceptances until the alternate list starts moving.
yup i got the email too. alternate list is waitlist right?
