I interviewed Dec 3rd and just got my letter this past week. I would only send the update if it's something significant, especially since you've already sent a letter of interest. Unfortunately Drexel takes a lot of patience, but hopefully it'll be worth it!

Gotta buy it, but no specific model -- I've seen cheap ones and nice ones and everything in between. You'll need a steth maybe twice as a 1st-year, but it's pretty much necessary for 2nd year onward. There are lots of long threads here on SDN about which models people prefer. I got the Welch Allyn Harvey Elite, and I've been very happy with it.
More controversial is the "requirement" to buy an otoscope and ophthalmoscope for 2nd year. The upperclassmen will variously tell you that you definitely don't need your own, or that they're practically essential to have. I'm somewhere in the middle, so I just got a cheap set. As long as you show up with them when they're required, the faculty don't care if they're begged/borrowed/stolen.
There are very few times during first year that you are required to use a stethoscope. When you do need one first year, one will either be provided or you can use your 4th year's. Go ahead and wait until you have had a chance to try different ones to see which one you like.
Unless you're PIL. Then you need one first year, but not until Block 2. We learn the entire physical exam first year, as we have our primary care practicum at the end of first year.
Otoscopes/ophthalmoscopes can be borrowed from the library for any first/second year clinical activities.

The SGA president on Accepted Students Day said they're starting/started this new program where students can rent the otoscopes when they need them, instead of having to buy them. Pretty neat 👍

Mark them in your minds. Those people are liars and can no longer be trusted.
You'll only need your own if you match ENT or Ophtho in a poor program that can't afford basic equipment and works out of a shack in the woods.
I never got my own, and I muddled through 2nd year by either borrowing a friend's set or by showing up without them and shrugging, which prompted facilitators to hand me scopes to use while I was there.
A benefit to this strategy is that when you hit 3rd year the residents and attendings won't laugh at you for wasting money on them.

The only way to find that out is through snail mail.
No way to try to sign up for a drexel account if you were accepted? Or does that happen after you matriculate

You can make an account once you're accepted. The instructions are in the acceptance packet though, and I don't have it anymore/can't remember how to do it 🙁 Sorry!
I called the Drexel admissions office and they said a "final decision" or "decision" does not mean a rejection, acceptance, or waitlist.
Or you could go back to the past 3-4 years worth of threads and see that every single final decision = acceptance or rejection and decision = waitlist. You can believe what you want, but most of us are going to go off of experience.
ah that's disappointing..waitlisted then....
does anyone know if drexel is still interviewing? my application status is that it'll be looked at again in spring - so any chance at all?

also a 1/17 interviewer, or maybe 1/16, haha i forget. not even at committee yet. this is by far the longest post interview i've waited for a decision.
I interviewed 1/24 and my status is "currently under review by the admissions committee". It's been that way for about a month now. From what I gather on these message boards, it seems to depend on when/how fast your interviewer turns in their evaluation.

Interviewed mid January and have been with committee for over 2 months now....
I've been in your shoes before and had both good news and bad news form different schools. Just remember that if this is truly what you want, the wait is most definitely worth it. If your status has not changed for a very long time, give admissions a call. There are a lot of applicants at DUCOM and sometimes the process falls behind a little. It never hurts to ask once (emphasis on once!).
