sure, can't hurt at this point. 35 (11,11,13), 3.6 cGPA, 3.5 sGPA, from an ivy. good upward trend. I feel very lucky to even have gotten an interview. For what its worth, I put a lot of time into my prep for this interview and I think it went very well.

good luck.

Don't be paranoid, everybody! I interviewed just a couple weeks ago, and they told us that a round of acceptances would be sent out on March 4th, so they are still going by those official dates. So some acceptances/denials/etc. will be coming out in early March

Called Faith Levy today. That's right. March 4th is the final mailout, and shortly thereafter everyone else will be emailed (for waitlists and rejections).

thanks everyone! i really appreciate it. For those still waiting, I wish you all the best of luck. It has been nice worrying here with you guys. here's all the info I can give you:

II: mid-december
interview date: mid january
First round of acceptances that I was eligible for: Feb. 4th (didn't get in that time)
2nd round: Feb 18th. Got my letter (in the northeast) on Feb. 25th.

my letter was dated Feb. 15th. It was sent first class mail, so that explains the long wait in many cases. It was probably mailed on Feb 19th.

I will absolutely be attending, unless I get a very large scholarship elsewhere.

thanks again and good luck!
sounds great, thanks!

Thanks Mako! And looks like nothing today. Close to giving up. Anyone else hear back?

So it seems like there were abnormally few acceptances this time around. Do guys think that letters are still in the mail, or that they have fewer seats this late in the season?

I think it's because there aren't many spots left. Last week Wednesday, someone spoke to Faith Levy, and she said that 5/6 of the seats are currently filled.

Could you clarify?
Do you mean to say there were only 6 acceptances for the Feb18th wave?

No, I mean that as of last Wednesday, 83% of all the available seats for next year's class were filled. She pretty much said that the chances of getting in at this point are slim 🙁 Let's just keep our fingers crossed.

they eventually offer 325ish applicants admission, prob through alternate/waitlist. i'd say right now, they probably offered a little over 100 acceptances to fill those 138 seats in theory. but based on history, not everyone of those will actually end up attending. i think good schools like emory accept the same type of applicants immediately, so there is a ton of overlap, which is good.

Are you sure that it's not more like 250 people who have already been accepted and that she doesn't mean they have given out 5/6 of the acceptances? I'm no expert on this, but it seems strange that there would be 200+ acceptances off the wait list.

Well here's hoping that the last round is the round for us.

If they have 6 mailouts, and they've done 5, and this is their 6th...nothing's really THAT different.

It makes sense.

Ex. Class has 100 people. You accept 200. 150 of those people go somewhere else, so you accept another 50, but most of them are already going elsewhere too. You continue the turnover until you get to 100 people matriculating.

From what I remember, Emory actually accepts 2x the class size, and doesn't really accept that many from the waitlist because they otherwise accept so many people. But that obviously varies a lot with each year.

😳 Anxious to hear a decision from Emory...hopefully sometime this week! Even if it's W/L or rejection, I'd like to know where I stand...

Honestly, I've kinda given up on hearing good news from Emory (I didn't hear back from february 4th or 18th), but hey, maybe there is a chance!

theres a facebook group for Emory University School of Medicine class of 2017 if you know you're going to emory!

^ thought this was going to say accepted.....

Bearstronaut's roommate here:

When is the last group of people supposed to hear about their decision from Emory? I thought it was Monday, but apparently not.

Accepted! Via mail today

Interview 2/11

Does anyone know if Emory has a second look weekend?

Congrats! Judging from your username I think this might be your top choice ;-)

You must be in the fabled last mail-out. Come on thick letter!

Thanks! not sure if I'm going yet tho, I'm an emory undergrad.
Can't find anything about a second look anywhere though.

Me neither...I'm pretty sure I'm either waitlisted or rejected post-interview at this point. :/

I'm assuming rejected here.... My stats aren't too good.... Good luck to everyone else!

today's friday, if we haven't gotten a packet in the mail by today, i guess it's probably safe to assume we won't. people who have gotten something, please do tell!

Holding out some slim hope......I'll completely give up by Tuesday. Ugh the zero acceptance train doesn't want to let me go smh*

1st person was on-campus. It may take awhile for the letters to get out to people. Patience may be warranted.

Anyone else in Georgia that received their mails late? Also, I thought Emory did not reject its interviewed applicants?

I stay in the same state and nothing....I'm giving up... I asked that same question and they said, "we don't reject during the interview season." Interview season is now over so we are all on the chopping block. At this point, you can either be waitlisted or rejected.

I just wish they'd stop telling me to pay for the CSS profile to finish my financial aid app. I interviewed in November and haven't heard anything. Just reject me already!

I'm from GA, interviewed in Oct. Basically giving up now...any chance of an LOI?

I think I will do an LOI after they send out the alternate list details. I have a lot I want to say and I just want to time it properly. I'm sorry you've been waiting so long, I interviewed at the beginning of this year.
