From my limited experience at HMS, the students seemed pretty intense (they seemed happy but looked worn out) compared to other schools like Columbia where the students were extremely happy. Can you talk about your experiences at HMS- how you find the students (happy, cut throat, anti-social), and how you yourself feel (whether or not you feel that you might have been happier at another school?)? Thanks.

Well, I wouldn't agree with that, but remember your N=1 or maybe 2 if you interviewed HST or MSTP. What I would say is there are some pretty exceptional people here, but there are no grades. That's huge! While P&S doesn't have grades either, they do have AOA; we don't! While my N is also is 1 for experiences at P&S, I would say we are at least as happy as them. That being said, P&S was my second choice...over Perelman, Hopkins, Yale, etc. I am extremely happy and have all of the time in the world to enjoy that happiness. I have friends at many schools, and in general, they are all pretty happy. With the benefit of hindsight, there is no doubt that I would make the same decision but even more enthusiastically. This is a great place to learn and thrive. I would urge you to attend Revisit and see what you think. It's pretty awesome.

Thanks a lot for all of your input. If I'm given the opportunity for a revisit, I'm definitely taking it.

As a fellow vet. I hope you can put in a good word for us... wink, wink

Well, we like people who are committed to service... Volunteering for the military is certainly a good indicator of that.

Don't be one of those kids. Everyone hates that kid.

There are times when evidence is appropriate. You're likely just trolling.

i dislike this guy.

you really think harvard is in the business of trying to make itself look better than it is?

Woah the guy asks for a citation and gets attacked. :lame: 👎

And every school is in the business of making itself look better than it is.

people who get into both NP and HST, would choose which one over the other more often?

So from previous posts, it seems that our applications first get reviewed by our regional committees post interview. These committees then decide whether to send our applications to the main committee where there will be some sort of vote?

February has actually been going by pretty quickly for me so far. Really hoping that this carries over for the next three weeks...

HST: ~160 interviewed total, reviewed by subcommittees --> ~80 sent to main committee for review --> ~40 selected for acceptance

NP: Darts. So many applications and so few darts. No real systematic way to get in 🙂

March 3 is a Sunday. Probably March 4, Monday

Or.... March 1...... I wish...

oh man, so we have the potential to hear two weeks from today? 😱

Are there still interviews going on? My friend says hes interviewing for HST and MSTP tomorrow.

Would they be able to finish all the applications with this short time frame?

This whole month has gone so slow. I was reading last years thread and I started feeling even more anxious. I interviewed NP, HST, and MSTP. I had a good feeling after my interview but not anymore. Whatever the outcome, just want to know already and end the waiting. I have MSTP offers from other schools but my dream is to do MSTP/HST at Harvard, I was blessed to even interview and get to play the waiting game with all you fine applicants. Good luck to everyone. btw also waiting on Columbia and UCSF

I also felt really good after my interviews, but then I realized it's because the MDs I met were just really good interviewers. Fail.

Better than the alternative I suppose... I definitely felt like one of my interviewers did not want to be there (or maybe just didn't find me interesting)...

According to the HST MD Admissions Website:
"The interviews will be held on the following Tuesday afternoons: November 27, December 4, December 11, January 8, January 15, January 22, January 29, February 5. Final decisions will be made by mid March 2013."

Additionally, HST only interviews on Tuesdays, so it's likely not taking place. Not sure about the MSTP interviews, but I'd assume those should be finished by now as well. Like other non-rolling schools, the bulk of February is used to finalize decisions after everybody has interviewed. Harvard should be finished, especially because decisions come out the first week of March.

Does this mean the update letter I just sent doesn't mean anything? 🙁

Cosign. Harvard was my most negative interview day, though I heard to expect that in advance.

@Gorillapanic

Probably tough to say unless you get opinions from others who interviewed with him. He might just have short interviews in general.

Same. One of my interviewers was really bad. Kept cutting me off and criticizing my responses. It was borderline antagonistic.

That being said, the second interviewer was awesome and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very casual and easy going.

Maybe a good cop/bad cop scenario?

I interviewed with the dean and it was pretty short... only like 15 minutes. Does this sound unusual?

That seems really short. I imagine it would be hard to fully represent yourself in only 15 mins. What were the questions like?

I heard a rumor that the Harvard revisit would be the same weekend as the Johns Hopkins revisit (weekend of April 12th).

Can any current students confirm or deny... Thanks!

I had great interviews for the NP program and it was very conversational. Student interview was hard to judge whether he thought I was boring or not, but overall they went really well. I also interviewed on Sat. so I don't know if that affected anything.

Arg. I know how that feels. I had a very similar interview experience at my state school -- first interviewer, first interview visit. Was the interviewer pimping me? Not sure. But I got fairly irritated after 15 minutes and at times wished I had just said, "Excuse me, would you mind letting me finish?"

I heard that they do this every year LOL. Such trolls.

My Yale interview lasted three minutes before the professor said "I don't have any questions. . . oh, do you have questions?" I managed to drag it out to about fifteen minutes before he said, "Yeah, I just really don't have any more questions."

I sent emails to the admissions office requesting to provide feedback through a survey. Several times. I haven't gotten an email back.
