Congrats SocialMed88!! Were you informed of being taken off of the Super Alternate List via email or telephone call?

I was sent an e-mail with the subject stating "Howard U CoM: Your Final Decision." In that e-mail was the PDF file with my beautiful acceptance letter 😍😍😍😍

Congratulations Botasky and SocialMed88! :highfive:

This application cycle has been an emotionally exhausting experience; one that has slowly chipped away at my resolve and confidence. However, to hear of your acceptances gives me hope that I have a chance, however slight, of also joining the Class of 2017. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel! 🙂

If you haven't received a rejection there is def still hope. Howard has ~80% acceptance rate for interviewed students. Just keep yourself busy. I wish everyone still waiting all the best. This is one of the most stressful times with all the waiting, but the waiting makes you appreciate the journey much more.

CONGRATS, Botasky! That's great news; especially that you were offered PARP 🙂

MosEisley, I, too, interviewed on March 26 and am waiting on the super alternate list...trying to stay busy with work but I can't lie, I'm thinking about HUCM constantly!!!

Congratulations to everyone who received offers this week! I hope to be joining you all soon!!! 🙂

Just withdrew my application after getting accepted into a school closer to home with a more affordable tuition.
Howard is a really special school in my opinion, and it has been really hard to make this decision..I hope my acceptance goes to another deserving candidate.

Thank you for communicating that with us. Congrats on your other acceptance!

Congratulations to everyone that has been accepted!!...

So I have NOT been interviewed yet and am getting more and more nervous as the days pass... It is extremely frustrating...
Is there anyone else out there who has yet to interview?

Wouldn't they be done with interviews, at this point?

I called them just today and they said they still have me on a backup list in case people drop out.

Is there anyone I can contact to increase my chances to getting accepted?
I live in NJ, but I'm willing to drive to DC if it'll help my cause 🙂

Perhaps you could send an update with a letter of interest or anything else you think is worth mentioning to the college. At this point, colleges may accept those who are very interested.

I doubt they will interview anyone else. I sent Ms. Walk an email last week asking about my status because I hadn't heard anything for several months and the May 15th deadline had approached. She told me they were busy compiling their 2 lists so they could send out an email soon. They have people they interviewed on alternate and super alternate waitlists, so I am very skeptical they will interview anyone else. I'm not trying to be negative, but that's how most of these schools handle applicants.

Received my acceptance a while ago but I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in July 😀

Hey Kamalpreet Sing,

I am in the same situation as you are! But I highly doubt they are going to have more interviews because I spoke with Ms. Walk and she said there is only 1% chance of even having an interview. I am also placed in the back up list. They did mention they only waitlist few people, so if people from the waitlist dropout as well, then we have a chance. But I am not sure if that will happen. Regarding driving there, I went to three open houses but it didnt really help me and I am from NJ too! I have also submitted my fall and spring grades, so I updated them like every 2 months. I still haven't heard anything positive from them. Just keep your fingers crossed, there is still one percent chance 🙁

Good luck!

Came off the super alternate list today.

Interview: 4/10
Super alt: 5/8
Acceptance: today

I am as white as it comes, non-traditional former military. As someone noted earlier, Howard is by no means exclusively a school for african-american students. While I did grow up in an underserved community, the diversity and family-feel fostered at Howard is the most exciting prospect about attending! Good luck all!

I still can't believe it...it feels like a dream...

I've been accepted off of the Super Alternate List! :soexcited: To God be the glory!

Congratulations to everyone else who has been accepted so far! I'm so excited about meeting all of you in July! :biglove:

Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting: Sometimes it seems bleak, sometimes you may even lose all hope, but never give up! There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I'll continue to root for you all and pray that you may hear good news also!

Is there anyone who interviewed early April who has still not received any sort of decision from Howard? I am still waiting to receive the out-of-committee email. I am still hoping for some good news soon. Congrats to everyone who was recently accepted. I hope to join you ....

Has anyone heard from the financial aid office about scholarships yet?
I was accepted 15/03 and I still haven't heard anything

Congrats to all the acceptances at HUMC!! 🙂

If you are still waiting, good luck! :luck:

CONGRATS, MosEisley! That's awesome news and gives me hope as I'm waiting, too. Hope to join you all in July 🙂

Congrats JueroEnfermero! I'm excited for you and hope to join you soon!!

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!! Can't wait to meet you guys in July.

Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Hi All!!

Reading your acceptances (however, late they may come) takes me back to when I was finally accepted to HUCM at the tender age of 29. I just graduated a few weeks ago and for those about to start it is an amazing experience and I'm so excited for you all! For those who have interviewed and are waiting there's still hope, and even those without interviews I recall in 2009 they offered a few last min interviews from which people were accepted (during orientation). Sure that's not common AT ALL, but it happens. Have a plan B prepared for reapplication and in a month be sure to contact Ms. Walk to get some insight as to why you either didn't get an interview or were not offered a spot after your interview.

Lastly, I'll be staying at HU for another year for residency and have a basement apartment available in the house I've been renting since 2008. It's about a 10 min walk to HUCM and the hospital. One of my classmates lived there for 4 years, and this year a dental student has stayed there but she's moving in with her BF. Anyway, if you need a place that's close check out this craigslist ad. I have people looking today and tomorrow and it will probably rent quickly but I wanted to let you all know as I know how hard it can be to find a place to stay. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/apa/3830380092.html

Hey, can somebody PM me the link to the Facebook group for our class? I've confirmed my acceptance and gotten financial aid info and all, but I saw somewhere earlier on here that admissions has been including the link in an email.

Thanks!

Hoping from some good news from Howard in the next couple of weeks as June 1st is approaching and more movement is expected according to the admissions staff.

Hi, everyone! Congrats to those who've been accepted. I'm a long time lurker on this thread and I love the uplifting vibe on here! I just wanted to post that I recently withdrew from Howard and chose a school closer to home. VERY hard decision since I loved Howard so much. Best wishes to those still waiting, and I hope one of you wonderful candidates get my spot soon! Keep praying and don't give up!

Congrats on making a final decision!!

May I ask, are you a male or female student as that effects who (male/female) on the waiting lists can take your seat?

I declined my acceptance today. I wish all of you who are still waiting for an acceptance the very best of luck. I hope my seat goes to one of you!

Oh and Faithful.. I'm female 🙂

Hey All,

It's been pretty quiet on here, I just wanted to wish all those waiting the best of luck! I'm in the same boat.

I spoke to the admissions staff last week. There are many, many people still very much interested in attending HUCM (for obvious reasons lol). To dispel any misconceptions or rumors, they confirmed to me that it is true that they can take people off the list up until the day before orientation. It all depends on whether people give up their spots or not. So again, best of luck and prayers for all. Hope to be a part of the class of 2017!

Were you able to find out how many people are on the respective Super Alternate and Alternate lists?

For anyone who might know, are people selected from the Super Alternate list in First-In/First-Out order? I recall Ms. Walk mentioning something about the Super Alternate list not being ranked, but I'm not sure how applicants are selected if it's not completely random.

I'm in the same boat as many of us -- still waiting. Good luck to us all!

I, too, called in and asked the same questions...they said that they're formulating a list of people (from Super Alternate AND Alternate Lists) to give some open seats to. Hopefully we hear some good news soon and good luck to everyone :luck:

Are you waiting on the Super Alternate or Alternate list?

How about everyone else waiting?

I'm waiting on the Super Alternate list.
I'm on the Super Alternate list. Although at this point, I really don't see the significant difference between the two of them...smh

I made this account just to let you guys know that I interviewed April 10th, was placed on the super alternate list May 31st and was accepted today via e-mail. If you have any additional questions please PM me and I will try to help. Good luck to all of you out there, I know how difficult this can be for everyone.

Congratulations to both recently accepted students!

Are you two gentlemen or ladies? I ask because it lets us know how many male seats vs female seats opened.
