I have a question in regards to the application.

The instructions say that "you may attach one (1) additional sheet to your application". What do they mean by that? Is it for the answers?
My answers are not very lengthy since they ask to briefly answer them. How long do you guys think they should be? Any advice?

I have some legit reasons for being late with my application. Do you guys think I could use this extra page for additional info I would like the admissions committee to know when reviewing it?

when I did my application I pretty much wrote about briefly about each of the questions. I guess the additional sheet is if you want to put more. If you answered it briefly that's good. I would make it about several sentences for each. Good luck with it.

How long does it usually take to get the complete email? They received my secondary a couple weeks ago.

They received my 2ndary via snail mail on 10/9 and I just got "Completed Secondary" email today 10/18.

earlier, someone mentioned that within the secondary email acknowledgement, if AMCAS has your letter of recs, then that secondary email acknowledgement is like a complete email. dont worry if you didn't get the complete email. someone asked the director about it and she said not to worry about getting that.

It is about 5 days past 30 day mark that Howard states in their secondary invitation email.
I seem to be able to open secondary (doc/pdf).
Should I send it in and will they consider it? or because it's past 30 days they will ignore it?

Not sure. If it is past the 30 day mark, ask the office of admissions.

The additional sheet is for extra material you have that may clarify or expound on information in your application. And it's ok if your answers are brief.

I turned in my secondary towards the end of Nov. last year and I was successful, so no biggie. But I think you have 30 days to turn it in after you receive the secondary material.

International student here......Been waiting for an II from Howard for a while now...hopefully it comes soon...i already have an acceptance in a great school and about 6 other interviews to attend in the meantime ...i thank God for everything.......goodluck everyone!

I guess that wasn't the best phrasing. LOL! Usually, I am at work when I get on here, so every reply/question is hurried. That's great to hear though. What research opportunities are available? Have you started studying for STEP I? Is there any dedicated studying time given for boards?

Understandable! I guess I will have to do some investigative searches to figure out what research groups/topics are available.

Did the school provide the prep material? I think it is good that they give 6 weeks of dedicated study time before rotations start. I find that a lot of DO schools that I am applying to don't but I guess that is another difference between MD and DO.

What about support services for students? This is another important area for me to consider when I apply to schools. Thanks.

I think you should contact them. When were you complete? Just curious...am waiting to hear from them

They sent me an email saying they received my secondary on September 18th and I received the email about needing my grades on October 22nd. In the email it stated that I can not be considered complete until those are in. I will definitely contact them tomorrow! Thank you for the advice!

I can't believe they are going so slow! I know there primary deadline hasn't arrived yet, but are they really planning to get the ball rolling closer to the deadline?? I hate waiting in limbo. Other than Hurricane Sandy, I think they should move this process a little further along.

I believe they have 2 interview days per month. So they are in no rush! Plus first acceptances come out Dec 15th. They *might* release those on Nov 15th if the committee meets sooner though.

The med school provide NBME testing after each organ units, which test your understanding of board relevant material on that unit, the questions come from the same company who writes the Usmle step1 questions. I'm pretty sure HUCM does other things to prepare students for the board...

Being a student here at HUCM, is like being part of family, there are many support programs that we have at our disposal. Like Medstar tutoring, where an upperclassmen re-teaches lectures covered earlier in the day in a more simplified manner.

I have 2 interviews coming up in 2 weeks and I pray they turn into acceptances. How is the cycle going for you? I'm still working on DO secondaries and I added my last 3 MD schools on Sunday.
