im 32r, 3.6 cgpa in-state and lots of extracurriculars/volunteering. i'm not sure what to do with this.

anybody do a letter of interest here?

I tried to update the admissions committee with my new job (pretty important add to my application...it's a hospital job with clinic and research experience) and I was told I could only present my updates at the time of the interview, should I be invited to interview. I'm not sure if they would feel the same way about an LOI...? But, Elizabeth Whalen, [email protected], in the admissions dept, responds quickly to emails so you could ask her if they are receptive to LOIs. Hope this helps.

Interview invite today by phone! Complete very early, but was waiting on new MCAT scores until September 5th.

In state, 31 MCAT, 3.97 sGPA. Well-rounded ECs, years of clinical work experience.

Second interview invite of the cycle, and this one is easily my top choice. So psyched!

👍
congrats! It is a great feeling!

Interview invite today at about 3:30! So stoked!

awesome! Are you IS or OOS?

Has anyone checked with hr yet, because I don't want to flood her inbox with questions about LOIs if someone already asked. If no one did, I will email her and let everyone know.

Anyone know anything about how UCONN feels about RI residents? We don't have an in-state med school (well, we have Brown, but it's not like they care whether you're IS or OOS), and so I'm wondering if UCONN might consider us "sorta" IS. Probably a stupid question, but it really sucks not having an IS school to apply to.

They do have a separate "new england" tuition, so it might help...but i have no clue

II today, OOS, complete 9/8. For those of you that got the invite via phone call, did you receive the confirmation email shortly after?

Has anyone heard back yet? They were supposed to start getting back to us today.

Accepted this morning via email from Dr. Zeff!!!

Just cancelled my interview for the 26th .
(OOS)
Hopefully someone gets an II tomorrow! Good luck

Not sure if I got your II spot, but I did just get the call! So excited! UCONN is undoubtedly one of my top choices to attend!

Congrats! Would you mind sharing complete date and stats? I'm starting to lose hope...I was complete mid August :-(

I know this might have been discussed already, but does anyone know if UCONN SOM gives people from Rhode Island any special consideration because we don't have an In-State med school? I really like UCONN, but I think I probably won't get an II (even though my profile is certainly up to par) because I am OOS.

Ok, thanks for the info! And congrats on your acceptance 🙂

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned (if so, I'm sorry I didn't see it) but does UConn send out a complete e-mail indicating the application is complete or is everyone basing completion on when one submits their secondary?

Thanks in advance!

This is the only email I got from UCONN after submitting my secondary:
"Dear Applicant,

Thank you for submitting your Supplemental Application to The University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the admissions cycle. If your application is selected, we will contact you by telephone or e-mail to schedule an interview.

Should you have any questions, please direct them to:"

If you get an interview invitation, they will call you to confirm a date.

I.....did not receive that e-mail. Just e-mailed them. Def. submitted both secondary and got confirmation of application fee being paid. Strange.

It was an automatic reply from an "away" message when they were on vacation I guess. Maybe it isn't like that regularly? I'd call them tomorrow and ask I guess

So, I tried to submit an application update with no success. I was told that I could present any updates at the time of the interview if I was invited to interview. Has anyone had any luck submitting LOIs to this school or expressing their interest post-secondary submission?

Just got my ACCEPTANCE email yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so freaking excited... I <3 UConn

Submitted Secondary: Sep. 7th
Interview: 2nd week of Oct.
Acceptance: Oct. 24th

😀 University of CT Medical School Class of 2017 😀

Lol yeah at the interview they said that they typically send out first acceptances around mid December, but that "we should be expecting a happy surprise this year." I'm certainly happily surprised!

II! By phone. Complete sometime in September (don't remember when). IS/31R/3.6

Hey guys. Anyone want to comment on the interview day? Anything you think I should know/any special way to prepare for this aside from what's on the SDN feedback page?
