Yep! Around 5 pm. Did you hear today also?

No not yet, I actually thought I was complete around your time when they received my application, but I was lacking a LOR... So, I was officially complete around the end of September. Good Luck!!!

I interviewed at USA on Wednesday and I thought they did a very nice job. I believe there were 13 of us there interviewing. I received some general questions but we mostly talked about my research / work experience (non-traditional). Mark Scott was very friendly and helpful. The Women's and Children's Hospital tour was very good.

This has been mentioned in the past as well but he said that applicants are given a score that is based on 30% GPA, 30% MCAT and 40% Interview. They start with a certain score threshold (not automatically the same every year) and if your cumulative score is above the threshold you are accepted. He said they typically start high and reduce the threshold 2-3x over the application cycle.

The committee gathers at 5pm on the day of the interviews to review the candidates and assign scores. He expected to determine the score threshold in early November. Typically, candidates receive either an acceptance letter in the mail or a 'hold' post card in the mail within ~1 week of their interview (except in our case perhaps due to the threshold not being determined yet).

Good luck everyone.

What are competitive stats for USA? Good luck to you and fact that you were this early means you have a good chance.

Does LOR needs to be in for the time of interview?

Thanks. I believe competitive stats for USACOM are ~3.7 gpa and 29-30 MCAT (at least according to 2011-2012 MSAR), though I imagine additional factors have an opportunity to play a role in the decision. I believe my experience after college (several years as an engineer in pharma working on controlled drug delivery) played some role in my interview invite.

Some of the research they are doing at the MCI is very interesting. I'd love to have an opportunity to work on those types of projects during summers (and/or perhaps during the school year for MS-1 and 2). I was pleasantly surprised to learn there was more of a research opportunity than I originally thought.

Good luck to you.

If secondary was rec'd by USA around Oct 8th, when might a interview be requested?

Hahah you'll be getting an interview invite any day now if your ecs were good as well. I'm sure of it 🙂

^^^

Sure hope so.

ECs are good...... LORs/Committee Letter good.

I wonder what the "score threshold" currently is?

Has anyone gotten an interview request very recently? If so, when was your supplemental submitted?

I'm wondering if USA is taking a small break from inviting students for interviews.

One of my friends submitter her secondary about a week or so ago and got an interview invite a couple of days ago

Submitted my secondary in mid-September and received an interview invite this week. I'm OOS if it makes a difference though.

Well, that's depressing that invites have been issued this week.

Are you sure she submitted a week or so ago and not at the beginning of the month? Do you know what her stats are?

Did the invite come by email??

I believe she submitted it at the beginning of the month. She is in state, 32 mcat, 3.8 or 3.9ish gpa I believe

Thanks....

I'm actually the parent, not the student.

My student sent secondary in the second week of October with very similar stats. Fingers crossed. Instate.

Did her invite come by email or did she have to log on to a USA acct??

Relax you will get ii. Your stats are way too good to be ignored and I am assuming EC's are impressive too. End of the cycle you will have to choose between USA and UAB and both are excellent choices. I will be humbled if accepted at USA or UAB.

Invites come by email. I'm sure he or she will be fine. As another said, in the end, it will come down to a choice between two great schools.

How did they notify you??

I received a letter in the mail saying that I had been accepted. I have read on threads from previous years that if you are accepted you receive a letter and if you are put on hold you get a postcard.

The letter was post-marked 10/31/12 and I live in Auburn to give you a sense of when you might expect something based on where you live.

My letter had the same date on it. I live in Huntsville FWIW.

Grats guys... accepted here as well, interviewed on 10/3. Glad to have the camel off my back. Wish everyone else the best!

Oh wait I got accepted too lol. I forgot to check the mail Hehehe. Any future classmates out there?

Hi everyone! I interview on Nov. 28th! Super excited! Congrats to all who were accepted!!

I also just found out that I will be interviewing at South Alabama on November 28th. For anyone interested, I turned in my secondary on Friday October, 26th so it took a little over two weeks to hear from them. Good luck to everyone interviewing that day and Roll Tide!

I'm interviewing on the 28th. Any advice from those who have already interviewed?

Acceptance letter received today in the mail. Interviewed last Wednesday, November 7!! Good luck to everyone else!

They have a large group of interviewers so your experience may vary. Mine were very conversational and low-stress. One of my interviewers had studied my application, one may not have even looked at it before the interview and the other went through it page at a time during our conversation. The only somewhat difficult question I was asked was about healthcare reform (then again, my interview was right after the election and the interviewer was passionate about the topic)/what I thought one of the biggest challenges facing medicine currently was and what I thought needed to be done to change that. One of my interviewers started off the interview asking if I had any questions for him which threw me off a little, but other than that, as low stress as I feel an interview day can be.

The only other thing I can think of is that you may have to leave the campus for your interview. All three of mine were at a hospital or clinic while other interviewees had some or all of theirs on campus. Be prepared to leave right away to get to your interview in case you are someone who is set for all off-campus interviews because that was probably the most stressful part of my day.

Got the good news today so good luck to everyone else applying!

Congrats to everyone that just got accepted. I have heard good things about South Alabama from family and friends that have interviewed there.

I'm the parent....Getting concerned. Secondary submitted mid October, no interview invite yet.

Should something be done to perhaps "inspire" an interview invite?

When did you get your email?

Wondering why no interview invite so far. ????

I sent in my secondary materials the first week in September and then got an II on 10/17 and then accepted a week after my interview. It takes a while, sometimes. Don't stress about it.

Don't worry. Your child has great scores/gpa...will get an interview. I am in-state and was complete last week of September...

Just curious, does anyone know the stats for interviewed vs. acceptances??

Interview invite also for dec 5, I'm a nearby FL resident 3.9 gpa/32 mcat. Complete beginning of November, went here for undergrad.

this is why I'm concerned. An OOS student gets complete a week ago and already has an II.

JoshTurnerFan...when you say that you went "here" for undergrad, what do you mean by "here"? Florida? or USA???

Nearby FL is considered as instate. Of all the people your child has the least to worry about as he/she is a stellar student. Three months from now you will be torn abt making the decision between UAB and USA.
