Hey guys- are there any people who have been accepted to Yale in previous cycles that I could PM with a specific question?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
I was just checking my status and found it said "letter of recommendation" incomplete on the application status page but all my LORs were marked received on their recommendation status page... weird...
Does anyone have the same situation?
Same. They prob just gotta check some boxes first.
If we haven't received a secondary yet, and we were verified early, should I just assume that I've been rejected pre-secondary?
Yeah, it isn't there, lol.Did you check your spam? Thats where mine was...

Oh, OK, then.No - everyone gets a secondary.
Everyone always says that adcom staff get sick of reading "I love science & want to help people" in peoples' personal statements. Do you think Yale gets sick of hearing "The Yale System is great! Collaboration & interdisciplinary learning FTW!"
Rachel, did you figure out the MPH/MD dual degree thing? I did the MPH program at Yale (five years ago...), so if you have questions about it you can PM me. I think I saw you posting on OHSU's page too, are you an Oregon resident?I'm into the 5th year option, and particularly I am looking at the advanced professional MPH degree (which is done between 3rd & 4th year). Is anyone else here looking at MD/MPH?
I am a little confused on applying, though. The MD and MPH applications are separate. One part of the site says that students are encouraged to apply simultaneously, but another part of the site says "Candidates for the MD/MPH Program must be currently enrolled in the Yale School of Medicine." Anyone know if I can at least wait around to see if I got into the MD program? I still need to clarify which MPH track I am most interested in, anyway.
Hi, this is my first post in this forum (or any forum). This is my first time applying to any medical school, and I have written my Yale secondary. If I post my essay here, will anyone be able to give me some feedback? I havent seen any other posts with full essays.... I would like to submit it asap, so please let me know. Thanks 🙂
lol okI get what you mean, but I thought thats what this forum was about? Ive been searching online and have found many forums where people are getting their essays edited by others, but I guess not on this one.
Does anyone know this yet? Should we just re-list our AMCAS activities in order of importance or what?I'm confused on this as well. Anybody know?
Got my secondary today. I'm confused. They ask us to:
Are we supposed to copy and paste our AMCAS stuff and just re-list them in order??
Anyone find an answer to this yet? Are we just supposed to re-list our AMCAS activities in order of importance?
Thanks!
Same question here.
I'm looking to submit so does anyone know for sure? The thing is I have 15 activities plus sub-activities, should I list all those as well?
I also wanted to echo the secondary question someone else posted. In the Activities/Achievements section, can we add anything that didn't really fit into the 15 slots on AMCAS? Or recognitions at activities that didn't fit into the descriptions? Or is this section really just a place to rank the activities you didn't designate as "most meaningful?"
Anyone find an answer to this yet? Are we just supposed to re-list our AMCAS activities in order of importance?
Thanks!

What's the verdict on not using all the 500 words? It seems like a pretty long essay for such a straightforward topic. Mine's around 300 and I'm trying to add more, but I don't want to make it BS.
I was wondering if past applicants can speak to whether or not it's ok to make it on the short side...?

In the secondary application, I'm not quite sure what the Additional Information - Document Upload section is for... here's the description:
"Use this tool to upload your CV, abstracts, application updates, letters of interest, or any other material that you wish to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee. (Note: This section is optional, and is not needed to complete your application.)"
I don't think that it's common to submit letters of interest/intent together with the secondary application; they are usually sent post-interview. Are we able to re-submit this section at a later date after we submit the secondary application now?
And would it hurt my application not to upload a document, but filling out the "Additional Page (Optional)" essay within the application?
I'm pretty sure you can't access any part of the secondary once you submit. You can do LOIs later via their email.
And no, it would not hurt your application at all.
A letter of intent or interest submitted to Yale along with the secondary application (prior to an interview) wouldn't be of much help would it...?
Regarding additional information. I'm tempted to upload the following:
1. CV (containing all the abstract information that I am also co-author on but have not presented myself)
2. First page of all my publications.
Thoughts??
I think my secondary essay is almost done, but I might have a problem. I wrote it thinking "Well, all med schools have a medical curriculum, so I'll focus on what makes Yale unique, which is mostly outside of that." For me, that was access to an MPH program & an interdisciplinary atmosphere that allows me to further my study of bioethics while training as a physician. I barely mention the medical program at all other than touching briefly on clinical research. Is this a ginormous red flag? Can I let my primary do most of the talking for the "why medicine" question?
From what I understand, It is generally advised to return secondaries as soon as possible. So take the time you need to put together solid essays, but I would think sooner rather than later would be better.
Though this is my first app cycle, so if others have better input please, feel free! 🙂
Not gonna lie. I am super excited about this school. Does anyone know when they start interviewing or at least start sending out invites?
I need some goddamn answers about when the first fcking IIs are coming.

Is it important to write the optional essay?
Topic: This section should be used to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee any information not previously discussed throughout your Yale Secondary Application. Please limit your response to 500 words.
I think I'd have trouble writing this essay because I already kind of answered this question in the first essay and in my primaries.
Thanks

Does anyone know the answer to this? I'm working full-time; I can submit my secondary today if I don't need to write the optional essay but otherwise I'm probably going to have to wait at least a week. Thanks again.
