2013-2014 Emory University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am an in-state applicant who interviewed on December 20th. I remember that they mentioned a batch of acceptances would be going out late December/January but that the Dec. 20th interviewees would not be in on that (It seems like the consensus now is that nobody on SDN has heard word of that batch of acceptance, though, hm...)? Does anybody recall the exact details? For now, my fingers are crossed for February 3rd.

Pretty sure we were told the next batch of acceptances would go out the 23rd or somewhere near then. I do remember that they said something about this deadline being VERY flexible though.

I apologize if this has already been covered, but do we know how many interview dates are still available or at least when Emory stops interviewing? :\

Is there anyone knows if Emory still giving out interview invitations for Feb? My boyfriend's is from out of state and his MCATS 33 GPA 3.9. I know his MCATS is not even at average range, but is it not possible to get a interview with these scores? I'm very worried about it.

Those stats should not be a stopper at Emory (depending on where he earned that 3.9 GPA), although it is very late for an interview invite for this year's class. Emory reported a MCAT average of 34.1 for its latest class (entering fall, 2013) with an undergrad GPA average of 3.69. Of the latest matriculating class (2013) 61% were non-traditional (had been out of college at least 1 year)...about 12% were either MD/PhD (9) or MD/MPH candidates (7).

Thank you so much for you information lodestar! I believe my boyfriend is a going to be a great doctor, all he needs is just an interview and Emory is our first choice. Is there anything we can do except waiting and not so aggressive that would make a bad impression of ppl at admission office on him? I really want to help him. Thanks a lot!

I think before you've got an interview, they don't accept updates.

Remember it's not all about stats. I have a colleague that has a 3.5 GPA and he got an interview at Emory. If your bf has great EC's, the "low" MCAT (lol) might be fine.

I haven't been posting on sdn for a while, but it may help someone to know I got an II 01/08. IS, and stats are on mdapps. Looks like I will be seeing some of you guys this monday!

You greatly raised my hope. Chin up!

Possibly. There was someone who posted that they got feb 24th. I think that's the last day. I'm assuming the adcom must have sent all the feb 24th dates out at once.

Could be wrong though.

I thought they do them every Monday? 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th...weird that yours is a Friday.

Anyone know when the next round of decisions are released?

I was given a date as well. No choices, but I don't care. Emory can do whatever they want to me.
oh haha, when you said "had an option", I thought that meant there were multiple options. edit: i am bad at this.. you weren't the one that said that.
Yeah not the first time I have been given a date, and totally fine with me.

you got options? I was just given a date

Yea 😛, only because there was a mistake. On my secondary I indicated I would like to interview on a Friday, but her email said to come interview on a Monday. She emailed again quickly after saying she didn't realize the Friday preference, and offered me a Friday and another Monday. So I had three choices total 🙂

You guys think it's a good idea to mention that Emory is our top choice during interview day, or is that something better left to an update letter?

Has anyone heard a defer/waitlist/acceptance since Thanksgiving break for Emory? I'd like to hear at least some sort of news, but slowly just giving up....

Wait listing doesn't occur until the end of interview season. The next round of acceptances is supposed to be mailed today according to the schedule provided during the interview.

Today is supposed to be a release date correct?

Anyone thinks that will be delayed with the icemageddon? Only in Atlanta will three inches of snow paralyze an entire city for days. 😕

Possibly. They had to close the university for a couple days last week didn't they?
