Hey guys I just got an interview. Did anyone else get one and would like to carpool from Tuscaloosa?

Does anyone who has interviewed today have any updates? For some reason I am thinking they did not send out any letters/postcards from the meeting last Wednesday. Maybe they will send them out after today's meeting? I plan on calling Mrs. Peggy Terrell tomorrow and asking

Have any reapplicants gotten interviews yet? I'm a little surprised I have gotten one yet as I interviewed in early November last year.

I received a letter dated November 12th today in the mail.

I'm applying round after next. Is there an advantage to doing early decision? Doesn't it tie you up to only South? South is my first choice because I want to stay in Mobile, but I'd like to apply elsewhere too. However I'm not sure I'm understanding the early decision process correctly.

I just got accepted but I have a question.

It says that they need a written acceptance of offer in 2 weeks. Does that mean I have to decide to matriculate in 2 weeks or is it just to hold my place and I can choose to matriculate later.

You hold your place now and we have until to May 15th to make the final decision and withdraw from all other schools

Those of you recently accepted. When were you complete and when did you interview?

Not sure what date I was complete but I was offered an interview on Oct. 2 and interviewed on Oct. 23rd.

One thing Mr. Scott did tell me though....he said when they look at reapplicants, they look to see if they have done a lot since their last application.

Nothing here. Have been complete for a month now

Thanks! Does the benefit outweigh the sacrifice of only applying to one school until October 1? I'm not sure I really see the benefit at all.

In my humble opinion, I don't really think the benefit outweighs the cost of delaying your apps to other schools if you don't get in early. If you get your application in as early as possible, it is possible to interview early and find out something from schools post-interview by the time the first letters go out on Oct. 15th. It might not work out that way, but the earlier you submit, the earlier you can get the ball rolling.

Application received and under review since Sep 23....havent heard anything from USA and I already interviewed at UAB...hopefully i'll get some form of correspondence in the near future

+1

Well I got a Masters in less than a calendar year, improving my GPA. I also tried to do as much volunteering and hands on patient care as I could. I guess it depends on the ADCOM's feedback from your first application. I was told that I didn't really talk about my shadowing as well as they wanted...and to get involved in more hands on patient care.
What did you get your masters in?

No ii yet either. This is worrisome. When were you complete?

I've been complete since 8/14. I called Ms. Peggy just to see what was going on and she assured me I would get an interview, it just might be later than last year. She said it doesn't really matter when you interview here, but I have no explaination.

In Medical Sciences at Mississippi College. It was tough, but I needed to do it to raise my GPA. I took med school level courses as well as upper level bio courses. It requires 33 hours to finish, and I began in August and finished in June.

If you all are wondering about y'alls interviews, Mr. Scott updated us on their new grading scale. On a 10 point scale, you now get 2.5 points for GPA, 2.5 points for MCAT, and 5 (wow) for interview. So you can kinda calculate where you stand compared to other applicants pre-interview

Thanks! How was your undergraduate gpa, if you don't mind my asking.

Any ii recently? I'm kind of getting worried. Last year I applied only to UAB but was offered an interview two weeks after I was complete. I've been complete at south now since October and no word so far. Any advice anyone?

South Alabama is usually late for interviewing and choosing students so have no fear yet.

Just received an ii here a few days ago. In-state, complete early October-ish. Interview scheduled for January 8. I haven't heard anything from anyone since my last interview on 11/14, so I'm pretty excited at the chance to interview here.

Recently received II for south alabama and could not be more excited! One question though: is the only way to confirm your interview simply to respond to the email? There was no link to another site but just wanted to make sure.
