2014-2015 Drexel University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
does science LoR refer to BCPM? so does a letter from a professor that taught me a course that classified as math (it was a stats course) count?

Did people reenter their schools attended in chronological order or leave them as is? I'm confused by this part of the secondary.

+7, I'm actually relieved this is a problem. While thinking in the shower this morning I couldn't remember if I had gotten a 2ndary yet since all my others came in like a month ago, just checked and of course there was nothing.

+8, there's seriously no point in complaining anymore.

I got the secondary yesterday. It literally took me all day to get the submit button to finally stop timing out. Not making an excuse for Drexel but it is clear that they are staggering the thousands of secondaries otherwise the website probably would not even load.

is anyone else's AMCAS experiences just...nothing? I don't have a grid for my activities

The moment when you see an email notification thinking it's the secondary from Drexel, but you see a coupon for a pumpkin candle from Bath and Body Works! :bang:

Or a "Pins of the Week" email from Pinterest... :bang:

Yay! Got the secondary

Just got the secondary!!!

Woot woo me too!

Me three!

Submitted Drexel app. Yep, that's the last of em. 3 months of nonstop apps. Finally over.....

..........i dont know what to do with my life now.

Just got my secondary today.. Does Drexel screen pre-secondary?

can one of you guys post the prompts?

No essays. Just little update questions "Explain gaps" "What are you doing post grad" type stuff.

I'll second what the other current students have said, Drexel has a very supportive environment - from students helping each other to faculty being available for academic or any other problems.

If you have any questions about Drexel or PIL, feel free to PM me - I'm in fourth year and on sub-I right now but I'll try to respond in a timely manner.

So the grading scheme doesn't foster competition?

We get grades, but there is no class rank and no real curves. So, no one to compete with but yourself.

Aaaaaand apparently there have been several more pages on this thread since the post I responded to. Good luck to you guys who have submitted secondaries, and hang in there to those waiting!

Finally got the secondary as well, will be filling it out tonight

I just got the secondary application and have been spending the last hour trying to log in, but it keeps timing out!

Drexel also just sent me a secondary and I can't even "Submit Incomplete Form." It's going to be a long evening...

Yeah I'd like to know where my secondary is, as well! Just started a SMP program and this is one of the few I'm waiting for, although I read it's fairly simple so I'm at least glad for that. Best of luck to everyone!

Sigh, I can't spent hours trying to submit this right now. I have to get home... 😡

EDIT: Did anyone else notice that in their imported AMCAS list of activities, the first several rows lack those ComboBoxes (check boxes)? Or am I the only one? Is there a reason for this? I didn't look that carefully before I got the timeout page, and now I can't access it again.

They don't want activities more than a few years old.

Crap. One of my absolute most important activities was 7 years ago.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. Still can't even log in right now.
6 years is what they ask for maximum.

Also I keep clicking Finalize and Submit and it's not doing anything. I'll be so angry if this doesn't go through.

Just click it, then let it take as long as it wants. That's what someone said yesterday and it worked for me. Twenty minutes later it's in! Easy as… well… something that's actually quite difficult.

Whenever I click submit incomplete form my session times out and my answers are not saved.... luckily I only put in my email and clicked a few things to test this out.

However I want to get this secondary out.. anyone who has done it have any suggestions on how to get the website to work? Should I just try again at some ridiculous hour in the night when less people may be on the site?

I've been doing little bits at a time. One out of every three times it saves my changes.

yes, save bits at a time and try to do bulk amount during odd hours.

I still haven't gone home. I might just sit here all night until it finally takes it.

Just waited 23 minutes for it to give me the prompt to submit, clicked yes, and now it timed out.

EDIT: It still saved!! Completed my secondary!

I'm getting so close to having all the information saved. If I can just get to that point, that's good enough for me to go home. Hitting the "submit" button can be done from my phone. (My apartment doesn't have internet... hopefully soon to be remedied!)

EDIT: Well, upon this most recent "successful" save, it kept the new information and deleted information it successfully saved hours ago. And with that, I really do need to go home. I'm starving and I have medicine to take. I'll try again tomorrow. Adieu, folks.

I'm torn between wanting to get the secondary and not having enough money to submit even if I do get it.

this secondary is awful. I typed a new activity into one of the boxes and clicked save. It pasted my activity into 5 other boxes and now I can't get it to delete the other 4. why does this have to be so difficult?

So, tonight was the night I finally got Internet in the apartment. At 2:30AM, I submitted my application like the website isn't having problems at all. So for my fellow SDNers, wait until the middle of the night. It may solve all your problems.

My remaining problems include the application website saying I didn't pay the fee even though I did (and have an email confirmation), and the fact that I didn't get a confirmation for submitting the secondary... anyone else feel me on either of those?

I mean don't worry Drexel, it's not like I wanted to apply to your medical school or anything.

For the two questions about continuous education and graduating more then 6 months ago, I'm not sure what I am supposed to put. I graduated years ago. My education therefore has not been continuous to date and I graduated more than 6 months ago. I would essentially be writing the same thing in each box. Anyone else in a a similar situation?

It tells you to email a specific address for address changes

Before you open the actual secondary but you are logged into the portal, scroll down and read the FAQ section. That should clarify your question!

I graduated this past may and am on a gap year. I still answered no to the continuous education question because I took it to mean 'were there any gaps during your undergraduate education?'. It seemed redundant to me to think of a gap year as a discontinuity in my education because then you would be answering the same question twice.

For those that have submitted, does the table in banner have anything marked received for you? When I go to check my status in banner, the bottom of the table has nothing.

You mean you clicked 'yes?' I think that is what I will do.

mine says nothing as well. I am sure it just takes some time for them to check all of them (aka it is probably not an automatic system), so it will probably take a little while since they're so busy sending out all the secondaries etc.
