Hey guys, sorry if this question has been asked before. Are ALL the OOS interviews done in February?

Have a friend that is an MS2 but did Ad com last year and she said they don't even look at OOS until Jan-Feb and do all of the interviews at this time.

Well I'm OOS and mine is tomorrow, but I think that, yes, it's normal for all OOS to be mid-late January and early February.

Interview Invite for Feb 11th!!!! I got the invite on Monday afternoon. I am applying as OOS but I did live in Kansas City for almost 6 years. Best of luck to everyone!

Begin nervously checking to see if the mail has come...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't we be looking for responses this week?

Soooo.. realistically, how many spots do we think are going to be left by the time March is here? I'm assuming they have to over-admit a few as well.

They overfill the class by 20 I believe.

15 scholars in rural health + 12 post bacc + 40 EDP + 60 accepted post interview + 5 MDPhD + 10 deferrals = 142
Overfilled class size: 231
231-142 = 89 accepted in March
These are conservative approximations. The number accepted in March is likely larger than this value.

Out of general curiosity where did you get those numbers? I believe you. Just interested

Scholars in rural health is typically set at 13-15 students.
Post bacc program is typically set at 12 students.
A premed advisor gave me stats on EDP for the last few years and they typically take 45 or so but Dean McCurdy said on interview day they were taking a bit less because of more students who deferred from last year and the year before. .
Accepted post interview number comes from Dean McCurdy saying they are giving approximately 525 interviews and about 10% get an acceptance offer post interview.
Admissions stats for KU say that they take approximately 3-5 MD PhD students each year.
Dean McCurdy said deferrals were higher last year than in the past, which have ranged from 1-5 or so according to an info sheet I received at an open house a few years ago. So 10 is a conservative estimate if there are more this year.

Those are my estimates, but I could be totally wrong!

This is my problem with deferrals right here. I get that they are needed in some cases, but its really pretty unfair to those in the current cycle.

As stated before, 10% get rejected immediately, leaving 50-55 students gone. Out of 470 or so remaining, 45 will be accepted EDP. The remaining 425? About 50 will be accepted. So out of the original, we have 100 seats occupied, and 375 to go. 30 of those will go to scholars, dual degrees, and post-bacc. So 130 seats filled, 345 to go. They'll fill to about 230, so 100/345. That gives you a 30% chance of acceptance, and counting waitlists, up to a 40-45% chance of a positive outcome.

Wow. This is depressing... 🙁🙁🙁

Hi all! I'm sorry I'm late to the thread. OOS, no KS ties, but love this school. Can't wait to meet those of you interviewing on Feb 13th!!! II 1/26. App complete late Sept/early Oct, marked complete by adcom in Nov.

Now there is a delay in sending out our decision letters? What cruel world is this???

I think they have sent that delay email with each interview group. I got my letter a couple days after that email.

So what's the point? In case your letter arrives after their estimation they gave us on interview day?

did anyone receive interview invite for feb 13. thx

Considering we are now a week away from the final interview date, I would imagine that all interview invites have gone out.

Sorry :/ I know you've been here since the start and I was really pulling for you.
Thank you. It's unfortunate as It's a wonderful school, but hopefully my luck at other schools will be better. Good luck everyone!

Does anybody know where to find some of the recent KC campus match lists? I know they showed us one at the interview but I havnt seen it since.

I've been reading some medical books.

If you plan to read medical books I would suggest getting the latest edition of Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease. Start at page one and see how far you can get. It is very high yield for step and for classes. If you want to simulate medical school try to get through 2 chapters and understand it well in 1 month.

Honestly super annoyed I have to take the MCAT again. I mean I understand why I have to but ughhhhhhh

Bummer man! Don't give up though. Many of us had to retake before getting accepted. I was studying to take it the fourth time when I got an acceptance. The only person that doesn't get in is the one that quits trying. You got this!

So uhm, I know for sure they sent out the last interview invites the last week of January (this is what the lady I talked to from admissions told me). She said that they don't send notifications to those who did not receive an interview until the end of February in case any of the people who got interviews cancel. So on one hand I know I did not get an invite the first round, but on the other, I have some friends that already got rejected but I have not heard anything? Does this maybe mean they looked at my app and are just keeping me as a possible last resort or...?

Don't worry, I'm realistic and my hopes are not too high. I'm 95% sure I've been rejected, but I kind of wish they would just let me know already to give me some motivation to study for the MCAT again...

I'm too stubborn to quit 😉 I'm just not quite sure where to start since the MCAT changed...trying to decide if I should take a course again or not.

Just start. You should never plan as though you're in. Always be working towards it until you are.

Right there with you! Hang in there! At this point I'm hoping my other interview has a great result, but in the meantime I will start to think of a game plan for the next cycle...

Hello! To all of those who have been admitted, congrats!!!!!! Here is the facebook group for the class of 2019 https://www.facebook.com/groups/1701932683364423/?ref=ts&fref=ts

For those of you who haven't been admitted, keep trying! Don't give up! Apply again, call Dean McCurdy and set up a time to talk about what you can improve. Just don't quit!!!!!!!!

I think I posted this before, but here it is again.

I thought I remembered Dean McCurdy saying that around 1/3 would be rejected immediately, and about 10% accepted immediately. I could be wrong but I was pretty sure that's what she said.

Just adjust the math accordingly. 158 people get rejected immediately, leaving about 370 candidates. 230 seats get filled, roughly. That means an additional 140 will still be rejected. That still yields a 40% chance. Accounting for those waiting to hear right now, 100/370 is still about a 30% chance of acceptance.
