2015-2016 Emory University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I do declare, I got an II!

For anyone that's interviewed already, do people actually wear sneakers to the tour? That seems like a trap.
people will wear tennis shoes/flats (a girl in my group wore some bright colored purple ones, and was commended for them lol)

Definitely bring some extra comfy shoes! It's a lot of walking and they actually really encourage it. I brought a pair of grey sperrys that matched my suit but other people had tennis shoes and no one even cared. It's very laid back.

I loved the atmosphere at Emory. It was so neat to be able to talk to current students all day long, and I love their curriculum. The group interview is really not that bad, but the one on one I felt was less like a "conversation" as they kept stressing. Overall, it's a very friendly place. Be prepared for a long day though!

Waiting to hear about acceptance! Fingers crossed.

Did you leave your shoes in the car then go back to get them for the tour? Or did you bring a bag to the interview?

brought them in with me. they have a lot of storage space in these little cubbies for you put them in, as well as suitcases.

Anyone else gonna be checking their mail compulsively over the next few days? 🙂

My parents will be for me 😛 . If they mail it today wouldn't it not arrive until like Wednesday or Thursday?

Probably but that won't stop me from checking tomorrow lol

I wonder if people would be able to tell via their secondary portal

A buddy (MS1 at Emory) told me that his mail notification just told him to check the secondary portal. I still don't see anything though -_-

For current students/people who have already interviewed: is it easy to get an uber near Emory? I'm staying at a hotel a few miles away, and want to make sure I won't have any trouble arriving at the interview day on time.

I didn't have any difficulty getting an Uber

The traffic in Atlanta is absolutely horrible however, so give yourself plenty of time

For those who aren't at the address they put down on interview day (like me) the admission offer is available on the portal. SO PUMPED!
What day did you interview? I interviewed on 9/25 and don't see anything

Congrats to those who have been accepted! I really wanted an II here but since I've been complete since early July, I doubt it's coming 🙁

samesies. complete 7/31 :sorry:

Anyone who interviewed on 9/25 or after see any news on the portal? I don't see anything about waitlist/reject/or acceptance or getting passed on

Just popping in to say that I got my interview invite in December last year and was accepted (complete in August). This forum can be helpful to get an idea of the stage other people are at but it's also great at making you super neurotic about not being at the same stage. Just relaaaaax - it's the last time you'll be able to once you start med school (kidding, mostly).

any MD/MPH applicants hear? not sure if those are reviewed differently
I was and I haven't heard anything. I don't think they are reviewed differently though. From what I recall, we're just considered for the MD program and if we get into that, we're automatically into MPH also.
When did you interview? I did on 9/25 and don't see anything. Thinking I was passed on in this round of applicaiton reviews 🙁

Emory doesn't reject within the interview season. I'm not sure when they start waitlisting but as far as I know, you'll only hear about an acceptance and nothing else for now. They continually re-review applicants who aren't accepted at each round.

March 7 is the last batch of acceptances, after that they send 'alternate' aka waitlist statuses or rejections.
Note: they use snail mail and that date is the last MAILING day, so there's some extra delay built in.

Really want to hear something from my alma mater.....

Since Emory releases decisions on a rolling basis, does anyone know how often they admit applicants during the cycle? Does Emory have set acceptance dates (ie. once a month till March)?

Decisions sent out via US mail on Oct 19, Nov 23, Dec 21, Feb 1, Feb 22, Mar 7

So does that mean that if I interview on November 13th I'll be included in the decisions for November 23rd?
