Received a secondary today with a 517 MCAT! Really excited 🙂

Just got the secondary this morning. Kinda excited, but also kinda disappointed because I've been in the mindset that I was done with secondaries for three weeks now lol. Gonna have to give myself a good pep talk to power through this one. LizzyM ~76

When can we stop waiting for a secondary here and accept that we didn't make the screen?
I'm guessing for people (like mwah) that don't have 4.0, 528s ... they kind of just hold onto it for a while until all apps are in.

Hey hey hey..woah dere. I def don't have either and I got the secondary the first day they came out. Have a little faith in yourselves lol

For those panicking, here is a timeline that may reassure you (current M1):
I submitted primary second half of july, recieved secondary first half of september, received interview in fall, interviewed in the winter, recieved 75% tuition scholarship with acceptance. The mysterious initial secondary screen doesn't rule you out of anything.

Good to hear about your experience. How do one qualify for scholarships? Any merit-based scholarships?

They have a significant amount of 75% tuition merit scholarships that you are automatically considered for with acceptance. They are largely for recruiting students to vandy.

Thanks for the insight! Do you remember how quickly you turned around the secondary, and then how long it took to receive the II?

I'm tryna submit this thing rn, and my challenge essay reads as 498 words on online wordcount tools, but the Vandy app claims its 517 and over the limit? Wtf?? Anyone else having this issue?

edit: the app lets you submit when it's over so I just said F it and submitted. This place is easily my top choice rn, though I am a bit wary of the 1 year preclinical. Not sure why every school feels the need to rock the boat with their curriculum nowadays. But hopefully I can snag a interview and learn more firsthand! Good luck all

I submitted it the same day I got it because UCSD has the exact same secondary and I had already done it. I don't think mine was particularly good.

I had the same issue with the word count, but actually just shaved off a few words in order to make it.

Sorry to contribute to any neuroticism, but today is when the timeline says first IIs will go out and the admissions portal is currently "under scheduled maintenance"

:nailbiting:

Been like that all day! I've checked...a lot... :scared: Also, did you all get an email or some other notification letting you know you were complete? I submitted my letters last week, and didn't see anything different on the portal when it was actually working.

My first II! Yeah!
There's an option to schedule a meeting with someone from Diversity Affairs, is that gonna be part of the selection process??

Anyone with II plan to meet with diversity affairs representative?

II! So excited; I love Nashville!
LizzyM 76-78. Didn't get automatic secondary, but I made it through the screening the next day.

II! LizzyM 75!

I'm planning on meeting with the Diversity representative, though I honestly don't know what to expect. Figured either way it wouldn't hurt since I am URM. Will call to find out more information.

I'm simultaneously jealous and happy for all of you

In the midst of IIs, I'm just excited I received a secondary.
LizzyM ~ 76, verified 12-8 and received 13-8.

If my MCAT score was released last week, assuming it's competitive, how long would it take to get screened for a secondary?

II as well, complete 7/23. Is anyone having trouble accessing the portal? Havent been able to access it at all for the past several hours...
