Is anybody else having an issue where Yale says it didn't receive the LORs, even though AMCAS sent it ages ago? :c
 
Seeking advice if it's worth submitting a secondary here with a Lizzy of 67 but 10 yrs clinical experience as a paramedic and now a PA and some teaching on the side as well. I live 15 mins from here so applied as a reach due to proximity. Not sure if residency plays any role. Any love for nontrads here?

how optional is the optional essay? Would you recommend uploading a CV to the doc upload box?

Agree with @Cigar! I would take the chance. Not much to lose 🙂
Have you spent a portion (or all) of those 10 years working in New Haven? (Something to consider, but you may not want to reply to this question here for anonymity purposes).
According to the MSAR, more than 1/3 of last year's incoming class (36/104) were students aged 24-29. 2 incoming students were 30-39 yrs old.

I'm aged 24-29! There was also a guy at my interview who was definitely mid 30s.

It's a funny thing, the premed lexicon. That post made me appreciate that some words take on whole new meanings and significance once your become familiar with the premed journey.
 
For matriculating students @Cigar @TaroMilkT did you guys write anything for the optional essay or did you leave it blank? For optional essays I usually write a "why that school" but since that's the actually essay prompt I was thinking about leaving it blank.

Yes, I wrote something for the optional essay. It's valuable space to express something that you want admissions to know that isn't conveyed elsewhere, whether it's about your upbringing, activities, or whatever. In general, I would advise answering optional essays unless they don't apply at all, but don't fill it with fluff just for the sake of answering the question. If you feel like all your bases are thoroughly covered, go ahead and leave it blank, I guess. I have no idea how many applicants/interviewees answer the optional prompt.

I used the optional essay as an adversity essay.

There is no one right way to go about this prompt, but if you have anything at all that you would like to mention to shed light on who you are as a person (that you haven't already mentioned in other parts of the app), I would take advantage of this opportunity to do so.

It's hard for us to know what exactly about our applications secured the interview, but if you have an informative diversity essay to add, go ahead and throw it in there. If it's a fluff piece that you wrote out of necessity for another app, maybe spare the admissions committee.

Hello,
I am writing the "Why Yale" part of the secondary, and I would like to focus on my interest in autism research in accordance with Yale's Autism Program and the school's investment in understanding it's impact as a renown institution on the New Haven community. My stats are 516/4.0. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Hmm, I haven't gotten my secondary yet. I'm also applying MSTP so that may explain it. Anyone else still waiting?

For Yale and many other schools, it takes time for them to process all that stuff and mark it complete online.

If you're verified and AMCAS has your stuff, you guys don't need to worry about receiving a secondary or having your letters transmitted.

re: letters not yet marked as received

I just got an email from Yale saying my file was complete, so it looks like they were just a bit behind in checking letters (my letters were received by yale june 5th and just now got marked complete).
