This is speculation but is there any chance these invites went out to mostly international students? I have two non US friends who got II today

Congrats to everyone getting those IIs! Save some for me plz?

Do your international friends have ultra high stats? From what I gather, it seems like they're prioritizing high-stat URM and other ultra high-stat applicants. Or maybe it's just what I tell myself to make me feel better, as my stats are very average for this school. lol

By stats, I mainly mean MCAT.

Yeah it seems weird to say, but for those of us with LizzyM's right around this and other top schools medians, it appears from previous years that we have some waiting to do while top schools try to recruit ultra high stat and URM applicants. We'll have our day though.

I have done some researching and I think that almost all of the interviewees are URM in some way (race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, etc.). So, hopefully, that gives most of us hope!

Long time lurker here and just made an account. I received an II this morning, but I'm a straight Asian male. HYPSM, 20+ pubs

CONGRATS EVERYONE ON YOUR II. I am going to be first year at Yale this upcoming year! I interviewed there last year and literally got an interview in Feb LOL (so congrats on being badasses and getting the interview this early). I'm sure you have a lot of question on general interview process: "what airport do you fly into?" "What is New Haven like" etc. When I went there, I vlogged the entire process! This video is NOT monetized and intended purely to educate and help y'all. Check it out here:

"What airport do you fly into?"

As if there is an option that is either close to Yale or reasonably priced 🙁

I took Amtrak to my interview lol

Secondary submitted! Spent a great deal of time polishing that "Why Yale" essay, hoping someone notices

@Albanian24, you're amazing! How do you find the time to write 59 secondaries?

Still got 9 to go! But I try to get 2 or so done every day. Just gotta keep focused and keep your priorities in mind! It just becomes really difficult to do so much work without compromising quality even just a little.

I've been sitting on my secondary here, feeling like it might not be worth the donation.. Any current/incoming students have any insight on how they see lower GPA applicants? I'm applying with a nearly 3.6 (ivy, upward trend), 518, zero pubes and/or pubs, but lots of research experience. Very unusual life experiences, but that maybe won't be seen in a good way.. haha. Any advice?

I watched several of your videos last month - they're so helpful. Thanks for posting and congrats on ending up at Yale!

Solid MCAT, and GPA is still within their 10th (maybe 25th??) percentile of the class, and that's a 3.6 from an Ivy. Your biggest weakness is the lack of pubes, but they use a holistic approach sooooo

I think generally a high MCAT makes up for a low GPA, not the other way around.

I'm hoping that's true, but a 518 is pretty meh for Yale. Maybe I'll do some digging and see if I'm descended from Harvey Cushing or something..

Going into this cycle, everyone is insecure about something. For example, while I feel pretty good about my stats, I don't come from a well known school and all the talk about how top schools prefer other top schools can get me down. I also don't have publications or other cool experiences that I've seen from lurking the forums. However, none of us really know how this is going to go so I think it's worth applying to any school (within reason) that you wish to attend so you don't have regrets at the end of the cycle. I certainly wouldn't call your application a donation 🙂

Well I got in with a 518 and came from a pretty mediocre public school, so you guys don't need to get too worked up. Focus on making the case for yourself, not against!

I feel that. I'm applying with a 516 and I definitely feel insecure about my score compared to many top schools' averages. All my advisors have assured me that 1-2 points from the median/mean doesn't really mean much and that I should still apply.

Any current Yale students willing to share their experience at Yale? It is one of my top choices, so I wanted to see if someone could answer my questions, with a benefit to the whole SDN community!

1) What do you think Yale SOM excels at in terms of educating future doctors?
2) What are some of the programs/activities you have taken part in at Yale that you have enjoyed?
3) What made you choose Yale over the other acceptances you had (i.e. what unique opportunities does it offer)?
4) What do you think of your classmates and the overall "feel" of your years here?

Any answers would be great!

@Willy38 should be able to answer some questions for you, if he has time to stop by in here.
