2018-2019 University of South Alabama

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends on the interview day. The ADCOM meets every two weeks on Wednesday. They send the letter that Thursday and you will receive a letter on Monday. I got my letter 12 days after I interviewed. One of my classmates got theirs 5 days afterword.

Has anyone sent updates to USA, or know how to?
A lot of schools have an area on the portal, which I'm not seeing here, so just wanted to check I'm not missing something before I email! TIA

Anyone heard anything or have an idea of when we will hear something? IS with mediocre scores, but haven't heard yes or no or anything. Submitted back in Oct.

Has anyone tried to contact them and ask when the bar will be dropped?

Last year I was rejected late January. So we may here a go or no in late Jan/early Feb.

Anyone know the next time they will lower their standards to get in? I got a hold notice today.

What did that look like? Like what did the email say?
Subject: USA College of Medicine Admissions Final Decision
Message: "The Admissions Committee for University of South Alabama College of Medicine has carefully evaluated your application for admission to our class matriculating August 2019. We are very sorry to inform you that your application has been denied..." and then just stuff about how it's not an opinion on if I'm qualified, blah blah

Pre- II rejection.

Nah idgaf. They’re not stellar. 500 mcat, cumulative GPA 3.16, science GPA 2.97, last 90 hours of coursework cGPA3.5/sGPA3.6

Over 4000 hours of clinical experience. Over 50 hours of primary care shadowing, leadership experience, etc. Reapplicant.

Anyone else still waiting for II from south? I think things will really get going in the upcoming month.

II today! Can any accepted students or students that interviewed, please private message me? I would like to know what the interview is like!

I interviewed here last Wednesday and had a very pleasant experience. No idea how to PM so if you guys could shoot me a message, I can answer whatever questions you have.

I can't PM you based on your settings. But you can click on the username and hit start conversation. I have some questions and I would love to hear your answers!

Do everything you can to stay encouraged! I got rejected last year with a 500 and was devastated. I tweaked my study methods and got my score up several points. Was able to apply early decision this year.

Awesome. What score do we need to apply early decision?

Anyone else get any more II from South, I think these next two weeks will be the last dates for II to be sent.

Any acceptances for anyone who interviewed in January?

Anyone know when the admissions standards are going to be lowered next? It seems that is usually happens in February.

Anyone got the background verification request without getting accepted?

Was accepted a couple weeks ago and will be attending in the fall. Does anyone who happened to go there for undergrad/is familiar with the area/know any current medical students know of any good apartments near the school?

Congratulations! You should be getting an invitation to the Facebook group. I was told that people use that platform to get information for roommates, apartments, etc.

I didn't get any invitation to the FB group.
I requested to join 🙂 if you can find it on Facebook you should be able to request to be added! I think there was an email with a link to it a little while back.

So I deleted my Facebook about a year ago and I tried to make another, but Lord Zuckerberg thinks that I’m trying to impersonate myself. Advice? Suggestions?
