(Username checks out)Or maybe next week is the week! Or the week after is the week! And so it goes until there will be no more weeks.
I want to let them know that even though it’s been 7 months since the interview I will literally move in two weeks if needed
I know this is repetitive, but if my school says they don’t accept updates, is a letter of intent okay? I want to let them know that even though it’s been 7 months since the interview I will literally move in two weeks if needed. This process is so stressful
well for me, my school's cte deadline is this week and my waitlist school's cte deadline is also this week.Or maybe next week is the week! Or the week after is the week! And so it goes until there will be no more weeks.

Please tell me that that is not your real name..
Is that your overall or science GPA? I thought my interviews went okay too. I went and spoke with the director a few months ago (wow), and she told me both of my interviewers had voted ‘yes’ for me. My interview was on 12/13, and I got the waitlist email on 2/13. My assumption is they decided on me two meetings after my interview, but since the class was full, there wasn’t really much to debate.~3.4/511 Pretty decent ECs and an alright interview. Did you take a long time to get a decision? I was kind of hoping that meant they were considering acceptance, but I guess I'm not very high on the waitlist after all.

I feel like if I had the same back story as The Burned Man maybe my diversity essay would be worth something. I just appreciate New Vegas.
dw i sent an update and they said that no more movement is gonna happen. felt worse.I sent in an update and received a nicely-worded, optimistic-sounding email in response. Why can't they just be mean to me so i know it's over
send it as soon as you have something to update. you never know if someone will drop their acceptance before the CTE@gyngyn Hi, I had a question. If your CTE deadline is coming and you want to send an update (and you haven't sent one yet) when is the best time to send it? Before CTE, on CTE day, or after CTE?
I have never been through a CTE cycle before so I have no experience upon which to base an opinion.@gyngyn Hi, I had a question. If your CTE deadline is coming and you want to send an update (and you haven't sent one yet) when is the best time to send it? Before CTE, on CTE day, or after CTE?
Lmao doesn’t seem like I’m getting in with my 3.7/502They're both about the same. Mostly applied DO so I don't know exactly what AMCAS ended up with. Somebody in the school specific thread said they had a December interview and a decision in January for the waitlist. A friend got off the waitlist at the start of last week with like 3.8/514 so there are some acceptances.![]()
Congrats and thanks for your assuranceDebated posting, but as an assurance to all concerning the importance of patience, I was recently accepted! Best of luck to all, attempt to be positive, and trust in your application and more importantly, yourself!
@gyngyn I remember reading way back that you said at your school, very few acceptees had multiple acceptances. My apologies that I can't find that post now and if you addressed my question back then, but do you know if that is largely the case around the country? Do most applicants who have an acceptance at all only have one?
Also just curious if you know about VCU specifically (not sure why you would other than the fact that you created the VCU thread this year). Thanks in advance !
do you mind saying where?Debated posting, but as an assurance to all concerning the importance of patience, I was recently accepted! Best of luck to all, attempt to be positive, and trust in your application and more importantly, yourself!
Right now, only two accepted applicants at my school are holding multiple acceptances.@gyngyn I remember reading way back that you said at your school, very few acceptees had multiple acceptances. We'll find out soon.Yikes, that's a big oof. Basically our only two hopes are that either other schools have a lot more multi acceptance people than yours does, or that some schools haven't filled all their seats so they aren't to 1-to-1 replacement yet. And I seriously doubt either of those is the case 🙁
If there will be more, it will be when all the CTE's come to roost. Also, I understand that your prediction is that there will be much movement around CTE deadlines. But why won't CTE deadlines simply force the remaining PTEs at a given school to just turn to CTEs? I am assuming if he/she is PTE at that given school, he/she is not holding any other acceptances.
Was this friend IS or OOS?They're both about the same. Mostly applied DO so I don't know exactly what AMCAS ended up with. contact the waitlist school and ask them if there's anything that can be doneMy acceptance has a CTE deadline of July 8 and my top choice where I am waitlisted at has a CTE deadline of July 9th. Am I really about to be forced to drop a waitlist right before possible waitlist movement because of an arbitrary date...? What are my options here?
I did and I was essentially told to wait and see what happens. I really hate that the new traffic rules arbitrarily block some applicants from hearing from waitlisted schools, it's a terrible systemcontact the waitlist school and ask them if there's anything that can be done
@gyngyn -- does your school not have a policy requiring PTEs and CTEs to drop other acceptances after 4/30? Are people really still waiting for financial info after all this time, or are you simply not enforcing your rules, and, if so, is that because only a small handful are taking advantage?Right now, only two accepted applicants at my school are holding multiple acceptances.
Almost all of them had multiple acceptances on April 30th.
I have no info on VCU, sorry.
Only AMCAS knows so they are and thus are the only ones who could do anything. They seem to be completely ok with the whole situation.Given that school is going to start in a few weeks, how ethical is it (both for the school and for the applicants) to allow accepted applicants to be forcing other applicants' lives to be disrupted when those seats become available, either at your school or the others, in the next few weeks? I get that lots of folks will happily drop everything and come running when the call arrives, but why is that necessary (or even allowed) when the call could (and, arguably, should) have come the first or second week of May rather than the middle or end of July???
Who gains by schools' allowing this, other than inconsiderate rock stars who are unnecessarily dragging out a decision to the detriment of those anxiously awaiting that fateful call?
i think the community might benefit from a re-teaching of what info med schools are and are not privy to, esp whether they concretely know whether their cte’d students have indeed withdrawn from all WL or whether it’s based on trustOnly AMCAS knows so they are and thus are the only ones who could potentially do anything. They seem to be completely ok with the whole situation.
I thought hitting cte notified the schools you are waitlisted at that you have cte'd elsewhere, whether you formally withdraw or not. At that point it's up to the school whether or not they want to take you anyway.i think the community might benefit from a re-teaching of what info med schools are and are not privy to, esp whether they concretely know whether their cte’d students have indeed withdrawn from all WL or whether it’s based on trust
We have no idea whether CTE results in WL relinquishment. Only AMCAS knows.i think the community might benefit from a re-teaching of what info med schools are and are not privy to, esp whether they concretely know whether their cte’d students have indeed withdrawn from all WL or whether it’s based on trust
You are correct.I thought hitting cte notified the schools you are waitlisted at that you have cte'd elsewhere, whether you formally withdraw or not. At that point it's up to the school whether or not they want to take you anyway.
given that people have reported being poached after CTE'ing, I would think not.We have no idea whether CTE results in WL relinquishment. Only AMCAS knows.
AAMC definitely knows. They have chosen not to act upon this knowledge.given that people have reported being poached after CTE'ing, I would think not.
that's...really sadAAMC definitely knows. They have chosen not to act upon this knowledge.
They have told us that they will not act.
that's...really sad
The AAMC lawyers have no interest in your interests (or ours). Is there a way we can impeach this system and revert back to how things used to be?
It protects them from having to work. Who knew? Lawyers afraid of a suit!I don't understand why AMCAS thought this was a good idea when it has only led to people having to settle for their preferences or be anxiously awaiting even one acceptance from multiple waitlists. Is there a way we can impeach this system and revert back to how things used to be?
@gyngyn -- ???? You said you have two acceptees with multiple acceptances. AMCAS is not the only party that could do anything; your school could rescind their acceptances if they refuse to release their other acceptances!Only AMCAS knows so they are and thus are the only ones who could do anything. They seem to be completely ok with the whole situation.
We don't know who they are! AMCAS tells us that there are two of them, not who they are.@gyngyn -- ???? You said you have two acceptees with multiple acceptances. AMCAS is not the only party that could do anything; your school could rescind their acceptances if they refuse to release their other acceptances!
So if the theories are right, we should see a few acceptances for schools with CTE today coming out tomorrow or the next day. If we do not, then it would seem (almost) all hope is lost.
To be honest, high tier schools poaching after CTE is probably the best thing that could happen for those on the waitlist without an acceptance. It means another spot is freed up at a low tier school.
