That would make sense. I hope 505 isn’t my ceiling I’ve scored higher on all of my practice tests, so I’m hopeful I can do better! But my fingers are crossed that I won’t have to take it again Thanks for all of your insight!

Hi. Let me know if you want any tips if you don't get in this cycle (fingers crossed that you do!). I went from a 497 to a 515. I know I'm an outlier but it is definitively possible to do significantly improve. Good luck on both the app and studying!

Wow! Congrats! Yes, I'll let you know if I end up needing to retake 🙂 Thanks!

Nope, no WL # yet! How about you?
I have a WL #, but I don't know it since the letter that discloses my WL # got lost in the mail 🙄 haha. Keep us updated if you hear back from your school!

I’ve been debating retaking the MCAT, but being in the 510+ range, I worry about doing worse. In retrospect I probably should have studied longer than 1 week. I originally wanted to apply the next cycle but my husband pushed me to take it and apply.

IMO, if you are at 510+ there is no reason to retake. At that point it is not your MCAT holding you back, and since the majority of retesters do worse, the risk is not worth it.

i'm not sure if this was posted already and im too stressed to look through the thread HAHA does anyone know if letters of intent are worth sending?

From what I can see - depends on the school .... but if you are sure - won’t hurt !!!!!
im not sure what to do in my situation, i interviewed at a school this week and they said that all interviewees are waitlisted at this point and they will get back to us in a few weeks. I feel like it's too soon after the interview to send a letter of intent right now, but I don't really know what a few weeks means and I don't want to wait too long to send one and miss another round of cut offs, idk. Any advice would be helpful. This school is my absolute top choice

Send it . At the very least won’t hurt . Just my two cents

Anyone have any advice about how to tactically choose which school to send a LOI to if on multiple waitlists? There’s currently 4 schools I’m WL’d at that I’d go to in a heartbeat but trying to figure out a way to determine which one I have the best shot at getting off.

I feel like this is tough because some schools may care about LOI more or less than others depending on your competitiveness and the school itself. If one of the schools is a top 10 or so I probably wouldn't bother sending a LOI to them because they will likely assume that you would go. If one is your state school and you're at about the average competitiveness for the school, then again your LOI may not have much weight. If one of the schools is a state school that you are OOS to or a school you are far above the stats for, then it may be worth it to send them your LOI really explaining why it has to be that school. Just my opinion though (and then of course there's the many people on sdn who say LOI are irrelevant)

I don't see any reason why you need to wait. Did they tell you before your interview that it was an interview for the waitlist - or they told you on interview day?

You got a third acceptance? Killing it.
yeah, this has been a great week 🙂)) got acceptance from Vermont today... It is insane - my first interview was in OCTOBER..... and till this monday all i had was 3 waitlists... And now, 5 days later, i have 3 acceptances and 2 waitlists as the result of 5 interviews (i cancelled the 6th)

What if All are T20 and I’m right at or under their MSAR medians

look, my point though is that if you do not send that LOI, and they will not eventually offer you a spot, you will regret it for the rest of your life, because you will be thinking that if you DID send it, they would have accepted you. If you do send the LOI though - you are not losing anything. THats why i sent mine. Because it is easier to regret something you have done than something you have not.

Definitely not hesitant to send one. Just trying to figure out where to send it to haha. See my post above

Hahaha . Maybe i am projecting my own thoughts ... hahaha.

Send it to the schools you LOVED. If you loved all - send it to one you think you have the best chance at (you rocked interview, your EC are aligned with their goals , etc)

I would send it to whichever school you feel you would be the best fit for and can make the strongest case that you would be the best fit for. A letter of intent should have some substance about why you need to go there so much so whichever school you can list the most compelling reasons for I would pick that one.

You give me hope! This is amazing news! Strong work 🙂

If I'm WL at 4 schools, would one school be able to look up the other three schools I am WL at?

No. Schools don't get the acceptance report anymore. They get an aggregate total number of students who have selected "plan to enroll" to for their school.

Any ideas on what to do if we already sent a letter of intent (pre-waitlist) and are now waitlisted? Is there anything to add an edge or do we just have to sit back and watch? I assume it's too late for additional letters of rec?

If they accept updates, you can update them if anything significant happens or changes to keep you in their minds.

I was wait listed at my top choice school, and it was the only school that I interviewed at. This school is known to take a lot of people off of their wait list, so I want to make sure that the Letter of Intent is super effective! Does anyone have advice on what to specifically include in the LOI?

In my LOI I tried to be really specific about what about me/my app is a great fit for the school (like what about the curriculum, the fit, the city/my family, etc). You need to express your intent to go and your love of the school but mostly you just need to convince them that you're such a great fit for them - that it is mutual - not just that you really want to go there.

This is exactly what I did. I picked 3 things about the school that fit my goals or learning style and explained in a few sentences why each of them were important to me and made me a good fit for the school.

I'm leaving my gap year job in April (been there almost 2 years full time for gap years). I'm under no obligation to mention that in a Letter of Intent/Interest, correct?

If In your application you said you would be working there until August or something then technically I guess you should clarify that you are ending early but doesn’t really seem necessary

IDK about AMCAS schools, but when I called up a TMDSAS school for feedback on my application, they were able to see where I was waitlisted.
