If I’m on multiple WL’s, but some of them are top (25) tiers, but for various reasons the 2 WL’s I care about the most are mid tier schools, does that say anything about my chances? Could I leverage the top tier WL’s and an acceptance in an LOI (I’m on these WL’s and have been accepted elsewhere, but if accepted here I will withdraw from all those offers)?

Also would someone be willing to glance at my app and help me decide on which school should get my LOI? I know which ones I prefer for my own reasons, but I also want to maximize my chances, and don’t want to send an LOI and have it not help or help too little.
If you PM me, I will let you know which place might be the best fit for an acceptance off the WL. Obviously it is just one person's opinion...FWIW

Of course, but thanks a bunch. I’ll PM you by the end of today

I've been debating on whether joining this thread would help me relieve my stress or simply heighten my anxiety.

Interviewed at 4 MD schools. Accepted to 1. Waitlisted at the other 3.
Not a terrible position to be in at all (especially considering the fact that I'm a Low GPA applicant who should be relieved by an acceptance to any MD school) , but the school I'm currently holding my acceptance for is my last choice. I would literally be 10 times happier attending any of the other waitlisted schools.

I'd like to think with 3 waitlists, odds are I'd have to get off at least one right? Like I know there are so many variables to consider, but... c'mon. At least 1.

Sent a letter of intent to my fave. Submitted an essay for a scholarship to another because why not? I'm hoping the essay will at least suggest that I'm showing an interest to attend, even if I am not awarded the scholarship in the end. Not sure how to handle increasing my chances at the final school, which is a larger institution that doesn't seem so receptive to updates.

Been a rough week. Got a post interview R and a WL to an IS school that shows a 70% acceptance rate (idk if that includes the waitlist movement). That would mean I have 1 A, 3 WL, 1 R post interview. Anybody else feel like their interview skills must suck with all these WLs? I feel like the only reason I was accepted was because my interviewer and I had a lot in common and it wasnt a "qualified" acceptance.

I know it’s late, but any rate that super high always includes WL movement.

first of all - i love the doggie picture!!!! So adorable.
I think you have GREAT odds in getting at least one acceptance from the WLs. keep working them, sending updates. I have 2 WLs, and both are higher on priority list than the acceptances i have now. So definitely do not feel bad about that! And its definitely not weird at all.

And congrats on the acceptance!!!!

Me you and mmaslyanko. Fingers crossed we all get off our WL, and that our 1 acceptances go to someone who wants them really bad.

I'd say stick around. Not many people can empathize with being on multiple med school waitlists at once. Before you and you others sent LOI's, did you inquire about your WL position, and whether the schools like LOI's? It's tempting to do whatever it takes to get off a WL, but we need to be very careful about not looking desperate, and our one LOI should be a very calculated decision that takes WL position into heavy consideration.

The school I LOI-ed has an "unranked" WL, and their WL decision letter welcomed updates, which I tried to include in the LOI. I didn't contact anyone directly though.

I wonder if LOI's make a huge difference this year at unraked WL schools with the MAR being gone.

3 Rejections
1 Deferral
3 waitlists
2 to hear back from

Felt good on all my interviews. It is what it is.

I had 11 interview invites and 8 interviews that I actually went to. The results : 3 acceptances, 1 rejection, 3 waitlists, and 1 that I’m still waiting to hear back from! Basically my waitlists and the one school I’m waiting to hear back from are all my top choices so I’m really crossing my fingers for May! Good luck to everyone

Are your 3 A's really that low of choices for you?

Is there a reason you feel like you need to make derisive comments to anyone who has had decent or good results? It’s not very helpful. You don’t know people’s circumstances.

My intent was not to be derisive whatsoever. It was a legitimate question. If this person has 3 acceptances, and they wish to come off other waitlists, then yes it is surprising. Maybe personal circumstances do play into that. If that is the case, and if this person does not wish to share, then there's no harm, and no shame on anyone's part.

Same. My WLs are my top choices. Strange feeling of being so grateful to be able to go somewhere, but holding out hope for a school I really wish to attend.

Not surprising at all just considering the fact that most everyone applies to multiple schools and likely can rank them from most to least desirable. Of course personal circumstances come in to play, off the top of my head cost and location.

Also, if I came across as abrasive, my bad

Oops I didn't understand - no the WL with the strong financial aid is in NY and the state school is MD

Haha it's okay! And ah I gotcha. I heard it can be beneficial in a letter of intent if you mention that you have an acceptance already but would STILL choose to forgo that for the school to which you are sending the LOI, because it shows you are serious about your intent if you are intending to forgo another acceptance for that school.

That makes sense. Fully acknowledged.

This debt thing is becoming more and more real by the day and I want to get into the school that is the cheapest for me now lol. Please accept me.
I hear you !!! I am lucky that my top choice is also the cheapest .... I am waitlisted though ... and NOW we WAIT.... ahhhh

Im hpwl at rwjms and priority waitlist at njms, and im waitlisted at temple, waiting to hear back from geisinger and i have a drexel interview coming up. Hoping things will work out this season, have rowan do as a solid backup though.

So I am reading your post and it occurred to me - I am sorry for a poor person who randomly stumbles on this thread 🙂))) we use so many abbreviations!
Good luck in Drexel !

Hey everyone, current M1 here, I just wanted to pop in and tell you to keep your head up! I was in a similar spot last year waiting to hear back from five different waitlists. I unfortunately had to wait quite a while but I had a lot of good news come my way the first week of May, so that does happen to people 😀

Good luck to you all!

Figured I'd join in on this thread. Sitting on one waitlist with no acceptances and getting worried about having to reapply. I'm hoping the rumors are true that there might be more waitlist movement this year compared to previous years, but I'm preparing for the worst.
I feel you, its not a good feeling!
Have you started preparing to reapply, or are you waiting? I'm so torn on if I should start prepping soon.

+1

I've started prepping - figured I would rather be pleasantly surprised and not have to submit AMCAS in June rather than scrambling at the last second. Just wrestling with the idea of applying again this cycle or taking a year.

never thought i was so impatient until i went through this process
I completely agree. I had a late MD interview in February, and waitlisted last week. I have no idea when I could potentially hear back, but days just seem to drag!

in the same boat as you. working on my personal statement but not sure if i should take an extra year between cycles or just do it in june. how are you gonna decide?

I'm meeting with a pre-med committee member at my undergrad and we'll see what she thinks. I have a feeling I know what was off, all of which can be fixed before the upcoming cycle. However, I'm also a bit older, and have a few personal life things that I want to accomplish/consider (ie. marriage/SO's work situation) and am going to discuss with my SO this weekend about all options. I'll be reapplying one way or another though! Unless I get off a wait-list of course 😉
