Can anyone elaborate on what is happening with tuition? A little confused..

Ahh i see, other medical schools should follow in their footsteps. Thats a nice gesture. What was the tuition last year and what was it supposed to be this year?It was supposed to increase for us that are incoming in 2020. Its not going to increase anymore. We are getting the same rate as the 2019-2020 school year.
last year its like 48k something around that range, it was previously 50-51k so there was about to be a 3k increase.Ahh i see, other medical schools should follow in their footsteps. Thats a nice gesture. What was the tuition last year and what was it supposed to be this year?
Anatomy lab is going to be your second block-- which starts around September I think. When does Anatomy lab start during first year?

A lot of current students stated they do not go to class, can someone explain a typical day (block 1)? I know a schedule was posted earlier and I’ve gone through most of the accepted students day curriculum video but like are you waking up early to study or waking up just in time to get to lab? I know there’s not a lot free time but is sleeping in ever a possibility?
I know this will vary from person to person so I’m interested in all the perspectives I can get.
this might sound sappy but are there ever times where the WHOLE class gets together? like Joplin + KC get together? I want to meet some of the Joplin folks 🙁
sad 🙁Nope, I've never met the people from the Joplin class
well if football ever comes back maybe we can do something where both campuses go to a game or something. Or do a social meetup.. that's if life ever goes back to normalthis might sound sappy but are there ever times where the WHOLE class gets together? like Joplin + KC get together? it's completely variable based on the person, the block, which lab group you are in... there are definitely people that seem to step out of bed into the 8 am labs. I know people who stay up to all hours and then sleep in. I know people with basically normal 9-5 schedules (with more hours around exams I'm sure). the nice thing about not having required attendance is that you are free to make these choices for yourself.
the truth is that we have no idea what post-Covid KCU is going to be like. I'm not trying to fear-monger and say that we will be all online this fall--instead I'm saying that there will very likely be changes of some kind to accommodate our new reality. I don't know what those changes will be but we will survive them together.
to tag onto this, what are the available banks in KC?Hey guys! I am looking to switch banks since my current bank isn't available in KC. Any recommendations in KC?
precisely 🙁But but "two locations, ONE school" 🙁
Obviously no one knows what's going to happen, but it's unlikely that KCU will be online in the fall. MO/KS barely have any cases; perhaps 100% didactic courses will move online, but I can't see them not starting anatomy labs or PCM/OS labs. No hate on your post, just trying to offer a different perspective.the truth is that we have no idea what post-Covid KCU is going to be like. very true.. fingers crossed y'all! cause i wanna meet the Joplin folks at least once in my 4 years lolwell if football ever comes back maybe we can do something where both campuses go to a game or something. Or do a social meetup.. that's if life ever goes back to normal
Theres nothing I hate more than an 8am lab, so definitely definitely not looking forward to that but right on with everything else you said

Not really. That being said one of my closest med school friends is a Joplin student (shoutout @Magus5454 ) and one day we will meet in person when we eventually have some sort of free time 😛this might sound sappy but are there ever times where the WHOLE class gets together? like Joplin + KC get together? What's the city that's midway KC and Joplin? We can meet there lol.precisely 🙁

There are people on the KC campus I haven't met and I go to the KC campus.sad 🙁
Yes, but that's all that's happening right now: talk. Don't take it as evidence of the likelihood of a change. We might switch to P/F, but I wouldn't count on it yet.is it true the administration is in talks to move the curriculum to pass/fail?
Any ballpark ideas on when we would know this? Days/weeks/months/years? It’s a huge factor and some of us are still trying to make a decision on where to enroll.Yes, but that's all that's happening right now: talk. Don't take it as evidence of the likelihood of a change. I honestly doubt any announcement would be made before closer to the start of school.Any ballpark ideas on when we would know this? Days/weeks/months/years? It’s a huge factor and some of us are still trying to make a decision on where to enroll.

I agree with @fldoctorgirl here. I haven't been closely following the topic, but the administration seems to be keeping pretty tight-lipped about it.I honestly doubt any announcement would be made before closer to the start of school.
I believe they are going to be watching for how it goes through this semester, and see at the end of the semester the kind of impact this change has. Granted, we are also working through the change of going completely online, but I am sure they want to see how a (half of a) semester with Pass/Fail impacts things.Any ballpark ideas on when we would know this? The sets being sold are the ones the school recommends. If you don't mind having a different one than the one everyone has, I guess it doesn't matter? Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a cheap otoscope/ophthalmoscope? I see a bunch of students selling their really expensive sets for $500 and I'm seeing reasonable sets for as low as $100..
anybody else sign up for one of the accepted student zoom calls tomorrow? i still haven’t gotten an email with the link yet and want to see if i’m the only one

I'm usually up till about 3am. I'm very much a night owl and get in my best studying then. I got by just fine with my RA Bock one.Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a cheap otoscope/ophthalmoscope? I see a bunch of students selling their really expensive sets for $500 and I'm seeing reasonable sets for as low as $100..

A mish mash of biochem and immunologyWhat is the first block?
#remotecampusBecause I have to, for current students #onecohort @BellaWriterChic will get this.
I use two monitors. I cant stand one only. Cons..price if you dont have a second? I also did a displayport to HDMI so I can stream any lecture or video on my TVAny current students study off a dual monitor or ultrawide? I’d like to know the pros/cons?
Joplin hasn't graduated a class yet so residency no. Board scores likely yesAre the board scores and residency placement rates for Joplin and KC lumped together? #oneschool #onecohort
To an extent, but essentially, gym attire is appropriate. Occasionally they will say wear shorts or sleeveless top depending on what the topic of the lab is, but other than that, I wore scrubs or t shirts and leggings. No jeans. You can palpate through scrubs or leggings, but it is hard to through thick jeans. They don't tell you what kind of bra you have to wear, so I either wore a t-shirt bralette or a sports bra, depending on what we were doing that day. If we were doing back stuff, I just didn't wear a halter bra so you could feel the spine landmarks. Is there a dress code for omm lab? At one of my interviews at another do school, they had specific rules about the type of sports bra you could wear and stuff

Yeah, I saw the Bock set for $100.. and it comes with the eye chart lol, don't see why I wouldn't save the money. Did you notice any downsides to it compared to the ones your classmates had?I got by just fine with my RA Bock one.
