Hey does anyone know what the interview format is here? Is it all MMI or is there a 1 v 1 as well

Got a hold update! "update to your application status is Tuesday, November 12."

Hi,

Grateful to have received an II on 10/28 for this school! The issue is that I am OOS and it would be a large hassle to travel for the IRL II. The adcom offered me a date in March for the virtual II, but I am concerned that most of the class would already have been filled by this date. If anyone has any insight, would be much appreciated!

for those of you who have interviewed, how did you prep for the mmi?
Ive done 5 MMI interviews now. Look up the Bemo mmi situations, they will help you with ethical situations. in MMIs youll also be getting asked generic questions too. MMI is honestly pretty easy if you can be friendly from the start and have a clear answer.

Hi there current student here: For UofA specifically- Highly recommend somehow relating every answer to a personal experience

Also remind yourself before each room that the interviewer has no idea how you did in the previous room so if you bomb it…. It’s a brand new chance to start over and ace the next one. It also means you can re-use the same experiences all over again!

UofA’s is very chill take a deep breath and you’ll do great!

I submitted my secondary late August and received no updates. Does anyone know until when I can be hopeful of receiving an II?

for anyone that attended the "casual mixer" the night before interview day, what did you wear and what were most people wearing? I'm leaning more towards business casual but was wondering if jeans are fine

Most people wear casual leaning more business casual, jeans would be fine

I think assuming if there was no call yesterday we can expect a hold email today?

Depends. From what two interviewees have told me: Except for the first round of interviews in late August, the UACOMP has grouped the interviewees on each interview day into Group A and Group B. For the October interview day, Group A was told they'd hear back this week (~11/12), and Group B was told they'd hear back on 11/26.

If the previous cycle is an indication, you'll either hear good news on 11/26 or will likely see an R or (in March) WL. It's a small sample size, but CycleTrack doesn't show any A's after November except for a few off the WL in April and May. But past results do not guarantee future performance. Hoping the A's keep coming, y'all!

any idea from last year's track how many OOS got A
According to MSAR, the school only interviews about 5.8% and matriculates 1.2% of OOS applicants.

If you're asking about the conversion rate of IIs to acceptances, the school interviews approximately twice as many OOS (298) as IS (144) applicants, to yield roughly 60 matriculants from each category. They don't publish yield data of offers to matriculants, or even how many As are offered. If the yield (ratio of offers to matriculants) were 50% for each category, then there would be 120 OOS offers and 120 IS offers. But my guess is that the school's IS yield is higher than 50%, and its OOS yield is below 50%. Ballpark guess? They make 100 IS offers and 150-160 OOS offers, to get about 60 matriculants of each. I have no hard data to back this up.

As far as interview day goes, what is involved in the Student Panel portion? Is it a time to ask current med students questions?
