As we assign prerequisite classes, are we supposed to report classes as duplicates if it's a lec+lab?

They gave us 5000 characters but asked for 300 words. Is anyone going slightly over 300 words and calling it a day?

How is everyone treating the first prompt? I'm sorta seeing it like a "why us?" with a specific tilt towards talking about whatever community engagement they have going on.

Has anyone been able to pay for this secondary? I submitted but never got a prompt to pay...

Should be for high school, I believe SUNY schools ask for high school graduation since students can be classified as in-state even if they don't reside in-state if they attended and graduated from a NY high school within a certain timeframe of applying.

I misread the optional questions about my parents’ addresses if I’m under the age of 24 (thought it was over age of 24), should I reach out to the admissions office and clarify? It would just be a repeat of my permanent address since I still live with both of my parents (which is already on my secondary)

Anyone else on a quarters system? If so, how are you breaking it up on the secondary?

For the second question did anyone approach it like an MMI prompt and include an example of a similar experience that we've encountered?

well it never happened to me but yeah I approached it like a CASPer prompt lol

+1 OOS II 8/5! LM 72.4 (I think?) complete 7/8 but strong ties to NYS & super excited!

Uhh maybe I missed this when I submitted but where is the comments section in the prereqs?

Whoops haha, getting some of these New York applications confused with each other. I am thinking of doing:

In biology section one: Bio A and Bio B.

Biology section two: Bio B again and Bio C.

What did you end up doing?

Is it a bad look to only write ~100 words for the last prompt? I know we have 300 to work with but i basically wrote about everything in my primary so im kind scraping the bottom of the barrel to come up with new ways i practice self-care or find joy outside of my the hobbies already on my app...

i think if you genuinely don't have anything more to add or the extra words are j fluff, it's fine to keep it 100 (no pun intended). It's just a prompt about what you enjoy outside of education and med extracurriculars.

Same thing

Hi! Curious is anyone get their interview date yet? I remember they said the Tues before but wasn’t sure if maybe we’d find out this week 🙂 thank you!!

Do yall know if there is an IS bias or if we need to have ties to NY?

I got mine today, my dates are next week

There is an in-state bias, I think their classes are like 90% IS

That said, I don't have any ties

Hi all! Hope everyone’s cycle is starting out smoothly, just wanted to say I’m a current M1 so I was quite literally in your position a year ago…feel free to DM me with any questions you might have, especially abt the new curriculum if you’re curious!

I did read a few things y’all have already mentioned so lemme answer a couple…

UB has a very large IS bias, and they also favor UB undergraduates but not as much as they favor NY residents

You won’t hear until December if they haven’t changed the protocol from last year, the wait is EXCRUCIATING trust me but worth it!! I interviewed in January and got my A in March…

I have strong state ties. My stats are in the range for Buffalo/Jacobs. With good leadership skills and volunteering hours, I think I am a good mission fit. I have not gotten an interview, but I am hoping for one this week. 🤞

What's the interview like?

IS II! Very kewl. I'm just kind of shocked that they expect us to potentially be available for any time from a Thursday till the next Wednesday, from 8 am to 9 pm, including weekends, and will only tell us interview times a few days before... I'm going to be traveling on the Saturday of that week, will admissions let me say "I can't do Saturday"? It's for a wedding :/

Hey guys. Anyone that was complete in July still waiting? I was complete 7/17 and my LM is low (66.5) but hoping I will receive a II from Buffalo, definitely my top choice!
Yes, I was complete on 07/30

Does anyone know the purpose of asking "whether I am registered to vote or not" and will putting "No" hurt my chance or should I leave it blank?

You should
1. Register to Vote, then
2. Click Yes

If you are averse to voting (I don't blame you), then I can't imagine it would hurt you.

EDIT: SUNY schools apparently can use voter registration as proof of NYS residency (or another state, for that matter) for IS Tuition. So, answer truthfully.

To be honest I do not want to register but if it would impact my application then I will.
I could also leave it blank because they said it is optional. What do you think is best?

If you can leave it blank, that should be fine. Can't imagine it would affect your application.
