Received my A at what I think is 2pm EST (I'm not in America right now) and I interviewed a day or two before Christmas!
 
Allow me to introduce myself. In the shadows the Harvester has lurked, only a whisper or rumor among the presence of the demigods that traverse this SDN thread. With the burning glory of a thousand suns, this is almost.. overwhelming. Terrifying. But magnificent. A drop of ichor has blessed a small town in East Texas.

A town that harbors the Interview Harvester.

Does anyone know if Columbia will reimburse travel for their Revisit if you qualified for the AAMC Fee Assistance Program? I don't see any info about that on the portal/website. If no one knows, which email would be best to reach out to for clarification?

I didn't see anything about this either. I believe emailing the Admissions Office at psadmissions@cumc.columbia.edu is your best bet. It also seems they won't sponsor housing for Life @ VP&S?
 
What does it mean to accept the "waitlist offer?" Does this just mean that you accept being on the waitlist and not that you auto-accept if you're taken off the waitlist?

Yes - it just means they'll keep you under consideration on the WL!

I'm currently and M1 and the only impact its had so far is a question mark on funding for NIH research during your first summer before M2. I wouldn't stress too much about it as there are plenty of other opportunities to do research and also do anything else. I'm planning on traveling/working my first (and only free) summer in medical school. When you are ready to apply to residency it's all about the story you tell and not always about how much you've accumulated on paper.
 
For all those who were wondering like me: VP&S provides no reimbursement for their Revisit weekend, even if you qualified for the AAMC FAP

When will we know for sure how this affects M1s who want to start doing research in their first year? Should we concerned about projects we might be interested in getting shut down or put on hold? Who would be the best person to answer these questions (if there are any answers at this stage)?

The impact is pretty much on every medical school in the nation. It will get sorted out in 3-6 months which will continue and which will be gone but take it for granted every school will have fewer funds to play with from NIH.

Message 532 is a reply to message 529, which is a news article talking specifically about the $400,000,000 NIH grants that were terminated, not the indirect cost cap of 15% which affects all med schools!

Could you speak to how the Reddit post is being received by the student body? Were all of these things a complete shock for you to read, or were you and your classmates aware of it to some degree?

Funding definitely makes me nervous but this is overshadowing it at the moment.

Anyone here know what's happening with the MSTP? Funding seems to have been cut for that too but not sure if Columbia is continuing to fund the program with internal funds and if they are keeping the acceptances they already made or planning to rescind them. I'm on the wait-list and haven't heard anything from the uni.
 
Excerpt from an email sent out just now by one of the Deans for Admission re: recent news:

Do any current MSTP students have an idea of what the current plans are for the waitlist given the T32 loss? If yield is lower than the typical 12-15, are they just going to keep a small cohort and not pull from the waitlist?

Happened to me too! In some time, I'd presume that the portal would update as a confirmation.
