Would anyone be able to explain what the biggest differences between this school and other schools are? I understand there is the 3 year program, but for someone wanting to do a competitive specialty and a 4th year, would your med school journey be the same as if you were at a different school? It's hard to find things online that separate the two. Everything is saying it feels rushed but to me it looks like how most schools do it, if you don't plan on matching in 3 years. Like would it be any harder to do something like anesthesiology in 4 years vs at another school?
Current student here. I don't think the experience is very different from a traditional 4 year if you choose to go that route. If you wanted you could do a dual degree or research project and be more productive than you might be elsewhere. It's up to you but it can be very similar to another school.
Secondly, if you are interested specifically in anesthesia, that is an option for the 3 year program. Also OBGYN, Gen surg, neuro, etc. It's not just primary care.

just got a phone call to complete a second interview - they said this one will be shorter, around 15 minutes. has anyone else experienced this and been accepted? worried this is an indication they didn't like me very much after the first interview despite it going well haha. first interview was 01/24

I actually spoke to an interviewer about this. He told me that the adcom has a policy where the if the interviewer feels that they didn't do their job as well as they could have (connecting with you and assessing your candidacy) then they extend a second interview. A lot of the interviewers are attendings who have to interview during their workday, so they aren't always "on their game". So no, not a bad sign. I have several classmates who had 2 interviews. Hope this puts you at ease.

Yes! Was in the same boat! Chances are it might go longer though.

Does anyone know what the timeline is like for financial aid? When do you apply for the primary care scholarship? Is there an application or do they give it to anyone who wants to do it?

You have to apply, I think in an email they said the module will open up at the end of this month in the portal. Unsure of the timeline on fin aid, I’m patiently waiting myself.

Does anyone know if they are still sending out II's and if so, until when? Or are they just considering people who are now on their wait list?

+OOS II just now, super surprised and excited y'all ( I applied a tad late 10/21/2024), can't wait for this March interview

Congratulations I hope you get in. Would you mind sharing stats ?

Congrats to those of you who got would those of you who got II this morning/yesterday! would you be willing to share your stats?
wishing you all the best!

For those who got an II, how far out were the offered interview dates and do they only interview on certain days of the week?

For those of you who did a second interview, how long after your second interview did you receive a decision? My first interview was 01/24 and I'm so antsy to know lol

I have heard that responses come around 5-6 weeks after for folks with just one interview so I can imagine with a second interview the wait may be prolonged! I am in the same boat 🙂 Sending you good vibes!!

Do we think those of us waitlisted will be waiting until April/May? Or could maybe hear sooner lol

I think any school that uses Amcas will be around April/May. It's hard to pull off the waitlist until you see the PTE numbers.

I applied to Hackensack back in July and have heard nothing. Does anyone know whether not hearing for this long is a good sign that I was not rejected or waitlisted, or if not waitlisted by now, should I just assume I will be rejected? thanks so much!

I personally thought I was fine but it turned out they did not accept my committee composite LOR, so I had to have a letter packet sent. If you can check your portal and all of the requirements are complete yet you have heard nothing, then I am not sure. It is definitely getting late in the cycle, but they are technically still sending out II. If you do end up contacting them at any point with urgency, I would go by phone because they were not great about replying to emails.

does anyone know if hackensack accepts LOIs?
There are options to upload updates and LOIs on the application portal, so I don't see why not. The schools that really do not want anything additional sent after the secondary deadline seem to be very clear about it (eg Penn St).

There's just no dropdown for LOI. Only updates, letter of interest, and schedule.

I'm a little confused, is LOI in this case letter of intent? If so, I just have a hard time imagining that putting a clear letter of intent, that is named as such, in a letter of interest category would be an issue.
