I think part of the screening process is seeing how you react to upfront questioning. I’m sorry if it was invasive or uncomfortable. It probably wasn’t necessary, but if the interviewer really didn’t care, they wouldn’t be pushing you at all. In other words, they were probably seeing how you did under stress stress. Doesn’t justify anything that might’ve broached personal topics, but take it as a compliment to the seriousness with which they considered your likelihood of attending. If they didn’t get personal at all, that would mean they probably didn’t care about your personality.
