Indiana does not employ a secondary essay phase in their application process.
Apparently they will send you an email that your AMCAS application has been received, then at the time when they choose whom to interview, will send selected students a link to fill out some additional non-essay information.

They do ask for the CASPer test.

I saw that was no longer needed on Reddit though

How competitive is this school for OOS and no ties? 3.84/new score MCAT tomorrow AM.

Does anyone know if there is any opportunity to say whether I have ties to the state, given that they don't have a secondary?

I have the same question. My MCAT is within their 2nd quartile for OOS students but I have significant ties to the state.

Has anyone heard back regarding interviews yet? I'm an ED applicant and received a confirmation email on 7/1 and I'm being silly and neurotic about not hearing back yet haha

Got an email that I might be a good fit for their Urban Medicine Program (UMP). Has anyone received this email before/know what this might be in the grand scheme of things?

Got this email last year, although, I did not end up applying. As far as I know, youll first be considered for UMP and ultimately if you get accepted, you have to spend all 4 years at the Northwest Gary campus. If you do get rejected from the UMP, you'll be reconsidered in the regular pool. Take a look at their website (MD Program | Northwest - Gary | IU School of Medicine) and see if this is something you are interested in pursuing.

So I essentially can’t get accepted to both - because Indianapolis would be my first choice then UMP

I'm an incoming M1 btw and I'll be happy to answer any questions anyone may have! I'm a 2x IS reapplicant and got in last cycle.
I'm wondering, what did you change between your cycles that helped you get admitted? Also, do u have any info about ED applications or tips you can share?

also why do some people rather than others get this email? Is it because they live near Gary, Indiana?

I haven’t received a confirmation and was verified on June 20th. Should I contact them?
I don't think its necessary to contact them, I saw a lot of people in last year's thread not hearing back for a while longer but do what feels best to you!

I can't really say anything about ED since I never applied ED. Sorry about that!

Also regarding the changes I did, I had a lot of changes between my first and second cycles, and so I don't know what exactly were the factors that made the difference. In summary, the major changes I did are the following. I rewrote my primaries completely. I took a brand new angle towards writing out my experiences. I also gained new experiences (new gap year job, new volunteer experiences, and so on). Another major change I had was my new MCAT score (+4 points). I like to think all these things together made all the difference.

Not sure tbh. I never lived near Gary ever until now. My guess (which may be wrong!) is probably due to having experiences on your primaries relating to contributing to an Urban community. Maybe people also get the invitation to the Rural program in Terre Haute similarly by demonstrating their contributions to a Rural community in their primaries. Again, this is just an opinion.

Hi, MS2 student here. I'm not great at responding to things in the thread, but please feel welcome to message me with any questions 🙂

Usually, this is based mostly off on your experiences/activities that suggest you may be a good fit for the concentration program. There is also a MCAT (and maybe GPA, I don't remember) threshold that you have to meet to be offered consideration for the two scholarly concentrations that allow applicant to apply directly to the concentration. So having experiences that fit the purpose of the concentration (s) is not enough. There are pros/con to applying to a concentration directly as an applicant. There are also other scholarly concentrations to which you can apply during MS1.

IS ED: verified 5/29, application confirmation 7/1, interview invite 7/17

I really do not want to take this test. Should I just take the plunge?

I feel like since you already got an interview invite its not necessary, especially as results take a bit to come back. I thought Casper was borderline worse than the MCAT so if I hadn't already signed up before realizing it was optional I wouldn't have taken it

Exactly. only reason I would take it would be because it's required for BU and I accidentally submitted my primary there. But I don't feel like adding more unnecessary suffering.
