Hey all! I know Maryland usually requires a non-STEM LOR from a professor if you don't have a committee letter. Does the same apply for those with a letter packet organized by a pre-med committee? Or in that case would my letter packet have to include a non-STEM?

to be safe I would say definitely include a non-STEM in the letter packet. Letter packets are not the same as a committee letter so I would def make sure just to cover your bases!

Thank you for the response! Unfortunately, I don't have one but wanted to shoot my shot at the school :/

"Aside from summer and holiday breaks, have there been any pauses or delays in your education semesters between high school and college, during college, or after college?"

Does a gap year after May 2024 graduation count as a pause in education?

since they include after college i think that means they count gap years. can you post the secondary essays?

that last question... How are y'all going about this? Confused if they are just trying to get a sense of our understanding of professionalism?

I talked about the key qualities of entering into a profession, like leadership, teamwork, service... kinda overlapped alot though w/ other q

How is everyone approaching the question about your most meaningful exposure to clinical medicine. If you listed a clinical experience as most meaningful on AMCAS are you writing about the same one? I feel that makes sense, but then it also feels like I am kind of repeating what I already wrote.

I think there are many ways to go about it. I would always refrain from double dipping unless you have a secondary that tells you it’s okay to do so. If you are taking a completely different spin/angle, it could work tho.

for those who have done gap years, are you basically writing the same essay for prompt for "Please describe what you will be doing during the 2024-2025 academic year. If you graduated/will graduate in 2024, what are your plans for the coming year until you matriculate to medical school? " and "Aside from summer and holiday breaks, have there been any pauses or delays in your education semesters between high school and college, during college, or after college?"
My activities during gap years have been the same and carried out for 2 years now.

I am taking one so my answers will prob be the same or reference each other.

If you have taken multiple years, maybe try to make a distinction like what you learned during the first year and how it changes your goals for the second year? Idk the fact that asked the same question twice makes me think they may want us to provide more info

Yep earliest for me was Oct 28 and the next one was Nov 4! I hate to wait that long but it seems like that’s what we’re doing lol
