@wysdoc
There's a few questions at the beginning about campus preference (KC vs St Joseph). Then they ask you to rank how likely you would be to accept an offer of admission to either campus (1-10).

1. We educate physicians/healthcare providers to provide care for individuals with various identities, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Describe any interests, abilities and/or experiences that prepare you to participate in and contribute to that learning environment. (1000 word limit)

Did either of your parents/guardians attend the UMKC School of Medicine? Y/N

If you are not a resident of Missouri, do you have any ties to the state or metro area? Y/N

2. Please describe how COVID-19 has impacted your pathway to becoming a Physician. The questions below will help you get started but do not limit your responses to these considerations: (2500 word limit)
  • Academic: Did your school move to an online-only curriculum? Were you able to interact with your professors? Did you have to leave an academic program stateside or abroad? Did your school require you to move to the Pass/Fail grading system? Did your original MCAT exam get canceled or delayed? Were there other academic barriers?
  • Professional: Did you hold a job? Did you have to go out and seek new job opportunities? Did you lose a job? Were there other financial or professional barriers that you faced?
  • Personal: Did you have to move out of a house or dorm? Did you have to cancel travel plans? Did you modify your planned experiences related to healthcare or volunteer opportunities? Did you seek out volunteer opportunities that arose from the crisis?
Are you from a rural community? Y/N

3. If you are interested in rural healthcare or in practicing a specialty that meets the needs of underserved rural communities, please describe your interest in this aspect of healthcare. (No limit)

Did you participate in UMKC’s Summer Scholars Program? Y/N

Did you participate in UMKC’s Saturday Academy Program? Y/N

Are you a reapplicant to the UMKC School of Medicine? Y/N

Have you had any prior interaction with the UMKC School of Medicine?
-Attended a virtual or on-campus visit
-Spoke with a staff or faculty member
-Shadowed or volunteered at a clinical site
-Attended a camp or conference at UMKC
-Other

Do you all think applying + getting rejected from the BA/MD program years back and applying now counts as a "reapplicant?" This is my first real cycle but I've applied to the school through its BA/MD and Medical Scholars program before and gotten rejected.

Do they accept more than 35-40 for January ? At other schools they always accept more than class size in case people don’t choose to attend

Is it normal to send out OOS II’s before IS?

I just got my instate secondary. It says that my secondary was delayed and the deadline is tomorrow. ??!?!?!

Is there a difference between in state and out of state secondary?

Just received a move to screen/complete email today after submitting my secondary back in July!

no oos sorry for the late reply been MIA
It's pretty tough for OOS unless you are from an adjoining state:
"While out-of-state students are welcome to apply to the M.D. Program, preference and priority consideration is given to in-state students from the state of Missouri as well as to regional students from the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma."
In addition, a large number come in from the UMKC BA/MD program.

They did say LATE AUGUST. So it could be anytime this week. Now if we don't get anything by Friday perhaps someone can call admissions or email and find out?

Opinion - would it be worth submitting this week as a last minute addition. I have a strong rural application. OOS

You can try you never know , but I think the deadline was august 9 for all materials

I emailed them earlier this week about another topic but the reply said we would be hearing back with interview decisions “in the coming weeks”. I was surprised because I thought we would know for sure this week.

If that's the case we won't hear anything until the first or second week of Sept. Well, at least we know invites/rejections will be sent before Sept 18th.

So is this where they send an email to us peasants and inform us of the new timeline or are we just meant to suck it up?

IDK, I emailed them two-three days ago about some financial aid questions and to try and get timelines on an interview and no email back. Based on last year probably gonna be very beginning of September before we hear something (Next week or the week after that).

We just have to wait . I hate going through a long weekend not knowing what is going to happen . I highly doubt we will know anything before Sept 5

Looks like last year they sent out IIs and rejections in the end of September. There might be some more waiting than we thought.

They specifically said on their website that Intercirws are sept 18-20. So it’s likely we will hear something next week. That gives two weeks before interview dates. Now unless interviews are postponed those are the dates I see online .

bro i just got an email saying that they will be sending interview invites even though i was rejected. Am i seeing things? Tripping? Am i not rejected? My mind is spinning rn someone help 🤣😭
